  2. Hey Siesta911... Im at little manly almost every weekend... Trevallies are the staple fish there haven't cause anything other than them (for keepers any ways) I have caught many port jacksons there and the bigger they get, the harder to take off your line i might even have a go with the a small trevally, sub it for a yakka for a king... I will be there maybe probly early saturday morning around 2ish until morning Say hi if your nearby. i have a blue shimano back pack...

  5. G'day pete, being the jew man to ask, do you cut your frozen squid up to pieces before hooking it on or do you leave it on whole? I've been trying to catch a jew all this time without success kinda like DGF, but he has finally caught one... (good stuff)... so a little advise would be greatly appreciated. especially presenting squid, targeting jews... Ta, John.
  6. Well done pete on the nice size bream!!! im guessing we all wish to have caught that monster... lol... Me and couple mates went to wet a line near manly and also caught about 5 keepers each, reaching the 30's mark. One actually let itself loose at my feet, it was at least 45cm plus!!! but what can we do aye. will be having another crack this long weekend.
  7. That's right mate. The dedicated fisherman does not take the weather into fact. lol.... we're actually doing a all nighter this friday up to saturday with a couple mates... hopefully the reports will be good on Sunday.
  8. Hi, I actually went to the store and checked it out. are they the ones with the clips for the reel attachment? if it is, it does look like some of the other high priced rods, but with a cheaper price tag. I had received a mojiko telescopic rod 10kg/10ft as a present. At first I had thought it was rubbish because I didn't like that brand that much, but after using is quiet a numerous amount of time, I found the rod was light and very very very durable. I have caught many fish on this rod, and even though some people might have negative thoughts, the flexibility and durablity of the rod is un-questionable being a telescopic piece. I also dont think Mojiko is actually made in korea, is it? any ways, hope the new rod gives you plenty of action mate!!
  9. Yes Pier 2 does hold very nice size Breams at the moment. or you can give the ol RB a go... if your land based.
  10. gday mate. I might be around fishermans bay this weekend off the Rocks. Hopefully will catch some beauties. Good luck, looking forward to the reports. cheers,
  11. Yeah I have never seen that happen. next thing you know breams having 3 eyes!!!
  12. Heading out near diamond bay this weekend. we'll see what we catch.
  13. Might have to set a date and go out with you guys!!!... everytime im there, i seem to catch only bonnies and some frigs.... nothing other than that.... is any one going to be there this long weekend???
  14. Hi Ritchi, I was there a couple of weeks ago after hearing that it was back open. It is open and yes you are able to fish. We were there at night time, getting bream (a couple legals) and baby snappers (all thrown back in to fight another day). if its a nice and quiet place your looking for, then its the place, but sometimes disturbed by loud people lol... Let me know how you go, might give it go this coming long weekend as well, if the weather prevails.
  15. I just wanted to ask, what are the main catches usually during this season? I went over to Avoca and it was choca block full of fishers starting from the night, but we only starting hooking things up in the early morning (sunrise) bonito's and frig's... any one else catch anything apart from those 2? Thanks guys.
  16. Yeah mate, Try rosebay a go... i was there last night caught 4 legal breams and one huge octopus (which i releases). Its where we go for our yakka's and take them to another place to catch the good ol kings.
  17. Did you go out mate? Where abouts did you go on the harbour? Any luck?
  18. No, I think you can fish there, but it's not open at nigt times. I went there last night just to check it out, but the gates were closed. Fishing only during the day time allowed I think but not too sure. Hopefully cut loose knows the deal. Lol
  19. Hi have you been there night? do you go around the locked fence?
  20. Hi, I went this place last night, but unfortunately there were gates and they were closed. apparently they are open to the public from sunrise up until sunset (according to the sign). Has anybody went there early morning or late night? if so, how do you get in?
  21. Yes, i agree with ImDale, Im using 40lb line with 80lb leader, that way it wont bust as easy. Kings tend to hit hard, so be ready and let it take your some line before trying to reel it in. Also use size 7 or above Gami Hooks if your using yakkas/slimies, and hook em in the back but not too deep in the body. I have never gone wrong with hooking them in the back (i guess its the best way) but others may disagree and have other tactics. Has any one had any descent king catches these? Haven't they all disappeared? if not, will be out this weekend.
  22. Thats pretty good mate... Went over to Rosebay on monday night to catch some yakkas for bait and the bloke that was there before us, was catching Breams like crazy. but all in all, nice catch!!!
  23. Hi, went over to Avoca south part of beach on the 27/02/2010 at night time and there was no catch at all. Only a few small taylors. But when it hit Sunday Morning, Bonito's were being pulled in crazy. Raiders using all sorts of techniques: pilchards, luers, fly bait on floaties. I caught around 5 decent size around the 30 to 40cm mark. Others around me were catching non-stop. Morning Sunrise was when they were biting, apart from fishers reeling in bonitos, didn't see any other sorts come. Be careful of the waves especially if the tide is coming in, and wear cleates as its quiet slippery near the edge. Other than that, have fun!!!
