  1. Hi Formosan, Ive got a 6m bar crusher with a 140hp 4 stroke and a 130ltr tank and I use around 20 litres to get to Browns cruising at around 18-22 knots then if I troll for a few hours by the time I get back Ive still got half a tank.
  2. Awesome catch mate, I'm heading out Monday and hope you might be able to give me a few tips like what lure you were using and what was the temp of the water you were in, also did you have to go as far as Heatons or were they just past Browns. Thanks for your help
  3. I heard they are still out there with boats hooking up 80kg models today.
  4. I picked up around 430 metres on my sounder the other day. Not sure if i was at the highest point of Browns though.
  5. Thats funny, I was calling out to you guys because I didn't know what type of tuna it was till I looked it up on the net. I didn't hear anything on the radio which is a shame because I would have loved to have hooked up a bluefin. Hopefully they hang around a little longer and maybe closer. Thinking about getting out on Thursday if weather looks good. Damn I should have followed you. Might see you out there again. Take care
  6. Hi Erroll, congrats on your catch mate. I was just past Browns when all of a sudden boats started flying past me towards Heatons I think. Is that where you found them ?
  7. Thats awesome news, I was out today trolling just past browns but only managed an albacore. Great day out on the water today. If you don't mind me asking how far out did you go to get the bluefin. I couldn't find the temp breaks anywhere.
  8. Well done, you sure know where to find them. Im heading out on Monday and was wandering if you could steer me in the right direction. New to tuna fishing so any tips would be greatly appreciated. I will be trolling a few laser pro 190's and skirts. Thanks
  9. Hi Raiders, Just got a call from a mate who was out today and they landed 5 YFT all around the 25kg mark. They were at Browns when they heard the news over ch21 that boats were hooking up and they had to travel another 10nm past Browns to get to the spot. All fins were caught on lures, apparently they weren't interested in cubes today. Lots of boats were out in the same location so keen to know if anyone else had any luck. Cheers Stacko
  10. Nice work champ, Good to see that many jews around. Well done.
  11. Hi Mate, sad to hear you didn't do to good on Saturday. I went out today but couldn't go to my usual spot because there was a large ship anchored there with its motor's running and it was too noisy so I went to a place called the drums in Botany Bay. Its those big white drums near Kurnell and they are numbered. I think there is about 6 or 7 of them. Anyway I was there an hour or so before the tide turned and had a good trail of burley going towards one of the drums and fresh yellowtail as bait and we caught a few nice fish. Just anchor so that the back of the boat is facing the drum and try and be about 20m away and have 3 rods going. Cast all around the drum and you will get a mixed bag of fish like we did today. Your sounder will go crazy as there is heaps of bait fish around as well so have a hand line with you to catch fresh yellow tail for your bait. Also try and use the lightest sinker you can. Good luck for next time.
  12. Hi Tony, We went to a few different locations but all were in the Kurnell region. We fished around Watts reef and near Towra. We also caught a few while we were catching the yakkas at Yarra Bay. Water temps were between 18 and 19.5. Very small running sinker with about a metre of 6lb fluorocarbon with a 1.0 circle hook did the trick. Water was a little murky, even when I was catching the yakkas I couldn't see them like I usually do. Hope this helps. Stacko
  13. Hi Nick, I caught the yellowtail in the morning at Yarra bay and kept them live in the bait tank then I was using them when needed. There are also heaps of yellowtail hanging around the drums where the big ships anchor and they are some of the biggest yakkas I've seen averaging around 30cm. For me they are the best bait when presented nicely on a small circle hook. Just wait for your rod to bend and there is no escape. I catch the yellowtail with a hand line and a size 6 or 8 long shank hook and usually a small split shot sinker if they are down deeper. catch ya later
  14. Went out on the Bay today in search of some bream. Caught a few and also managed to catch 3 legal snapper, a flathead and a tailor. We caught a small squid early in the morning so we decided to put it on the down rigger and see if there were any kingies around. Unfortunately It got nailed by the tailor. All the other fish were caught with strips of fresh yellowtail. Would anybody please give me advice on rigging live baby octopus. Is it even worth down rigging occy's for Kingies. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I down rigged a small one today and it got taken by a bigger one which I gave to my old man as he loves occy. Tight lines Stacko
  15. Thanks for your help Trung. Thats an awesome set up you have. Did you build the bases they sit on or can you buy them from Santmarine. We managed 3 good sized bream and about 30 leather jackets as my dad loves them so I promised him a feed but no big action around. Might go out Friday morning for a few hours. Might see you out on the water if you don't have to work. Take care Stacey
  16. Hi Trung, Guy with the orange Bar Crusher here. Nice to meet you today. Im sorry you had to leave the bay so early and go to work but 2 hours is better than none. Would you be able to tell me where you got those live bait tanks hanging off the back of your boat. My neighbour can't find them anywhere for his Stacer. Cheers Trung
  17. Hi Formosan, do you have any places you recommend to buy fresh squid from. Thanks
  18. Awesome video boys. I always fish Botany Bay in my boat but can never find the squid. Do you have a preferred time you go to catch them. I think I know where to get them but just don't seem to find them. Any tips for a novice squid fisher would be much appreciated. Cheers Stacko
  19. C'mon PJ don't be like that, at least give him the right directions. It's actually 165 steps past the she oak.
  20. Hey PJ, After I left the weir I went back to the tackle store and bought a few more Tassies (small and larger size) in pink and once I got out to the FAD I flicked the larger one straight at the FAD and hooked up in no time. Only a small undersize dollie though, nothing to brag about. Still good fun with my 3000 size reel with 10 pound braid. Let me know when the trout is firing up in the Nepean and i'll organise to come down with the boat. Stacey
  21. Hi PJ, Thought i'd put a pic up for you. Get ready for a phone call soon so we can take my boat out on the Nepean. Went out for dollies yesterday and just for a laugh I caught one on my pink tassie devil. Yes of course I still had it on backwards. Speak soon Stacey
