  1. yea well the otehr site has sum good points too. well they could be trying to penetrate the market. or they could be floggin off some 20c rod made in china and then revalue it to some crazy australian standard. i cant immagine it would be any worse than a 30 buk rod a Kmart. il just have to think about this one. $30 at the pub or $30 on sum rod .... or $60 on both ... hmmmm il figure it out soon enoug
  2. im sure you are all aware of the fishing magazine modern fishing. well i went to the news agent and it had a thing in it saying free fishing rod. basicaly if we paid postage of $30.00 we would then get either a beach rod or esuary rod from pirana. i think this was the brand. well i dont know to much about rods and all that but im wondering if this is a good deal. or if it would be better to just save my money and later on uy a much better rod. as i dont money to burn. btw i have only been fishing for a few months as well so i am definatly no pro. cheers antman
  3. had a fish around 5 pm at iron cove of land with my mate. first cast my dodge line got completely tanglet and had to let heaps of it out untill the tagle was free then cut it. (it went in the bin not the water ) any way no fish for ages. my mate who borowed my line brought in 2 tailors both undersize. wouldnt u know it. then to top it of i get a phone call and jsut as i pick up bam im finally on give the phone away then just like that bust off. o well still better than watchin tv... so sunday my friends bought new fishing rods and wanted to give them a wirl i couldnt go in the morning so they went. they started at little bay. got nothin then moved to bronte where they got a flattie but didnt manage to bring him out of the water. then to watsons. where they each got a flathead. then they called me again. i could make it now told em we would go to iron cove. so showed em the way and we fished under the bridge. nothing was really biting. we had pillies and cooked prawns. unfortunatly no sp's cuz shop was closed and i dont have any (never used them but keen to start) well not much happening but i was gettin a few bites on my ultra light supa flexi Kmart rod. then finaly managed to pull it in. tiny bream. smallest thing iv eva caught. no wonder it took a while to pull in, hook was too big. then anyway one of them was playin round with the toad fish. dont as me why. and we saw a nice big eel. just a bit out and i pulled that in. bout 50 cm long. that was definatly catch of the day. the thing stunk. no way id eat one of those. esp from iiron cove. so we wraped it with a towl got the pliers and unhooked it. sent it back home. so no great fish for me this weekend. but sum great fun had. esp with the 2 keen new fishos. antman

    Camping

dont have a boat. and dont camp in sydney. however. North Narabeen has a camping ground at the beach/ river entrance pretty much. might be worth a good look into. as theres good surfing to! there also may be a camping ground at curnelle if i am remembering correctly from memory. neither of these camping grounds looked amazing (have only drove past them) as in not many trees etc. but im sure have toilets hot showers etc. thats all i really know about in sydney. but a bit of a drive out of here and there are plenty of beat spots im sure heaps of em have a place for your boat. good luck. antman

went for a quick fish sunday night around 6 30 till 730 under the bridge. was using pilchards for bait. gave them a little flik on the bottom as i pulled them in. on second cast had my first bite and managed to pull in a dusky. just under 40 cm. every other cast bait was taken. once had a really big pull. but it spat the bait. think it was a decent sized flathead again because it stayed in the same position. just needed a bigger hook and mabe couldhave pulled it in. but thats the luck of the game. so basically i didnt pull bait in once. i ended up throwing the fish back. not sure if i trust the area. does anyone eat the fish from there. antman
  9. last weekend had a fish in the cooks. no luck. friday night bout mid tide. just fishin with bread nothing not even a bit. saw a mullet or two jump. went took sum near by lady friends on sat for a fish. one bite on first cast thats it. again just fishing on bread. was awsome fun to take the chicks out one was right into it. was a good laugh. iv heard of people landing a few bream from the river. id never eat it. but hey better than tv and at least its close. antman

  14. gday all. im pretty recent to this whole fishing sport. iv gotten into it and been goin pretty much at least 1 time a week for about 3 months now. i have no boat and live in the inner west. i usually fish at entrance of the georges river into Botany Bay. however i have also fished a few other spots in botany bay. (with no luck). The Cooks River (no luck, and would neva eat from that dirty place but at least its close) and under the iron cove bridge. id be really keen to try some new spots and techniques. wheter it be the beach of rocks, mangroves at low tide, the harbour where ever. i live in newtown and it would be great to get some spots close by and a few techniques in how to fish them. thanks for all the great storys iv read on the site, and much more to anyone who offers any advise. cheers Antman
