  1. the lake was open when i fished it last week
  2. Im no expert on the matter but I have cousins who used to live in Marrumba Downs that used to catch quite a lot of sharks in the Pine River around deep water bend and along the stretch of river next to Acacia Park
  3. We started a little north but moved south of the entrance. We werent specifically after sharks, he just came up our burley trail
  4. Fished out of Brooklyn yesterday in about 50-60m of water, just after a feed of flatties but prepared if something a bit larger was lurking around. Stopped at the pill boxes and quickly filled the tank with yakkas. I havent seen that many in the area in a long time, they were thick! Then headed off for a drift in around 50m of water. Only managed a couple of flatties there and was a bit slow so we moved on to another spot in 60m. Caught about half a dozen flaties and then noticed a mako in our trail. We quickly set up a rod with a wire trace and sent out a livie. He was a little too smart for that and was not interested, we switched to a mono leader with a dead yakka and we were on! after a short fight we had him boat side but the flying gaff didnt hold and off he went again! got him back and this time the gaff shot stuck. Ended up with the mako and 8 flatties for the day. Had the flathead for tea last night and am looking forward to flake for dinner tonight!
  5. I think that puts me in second place for the Yellow Fin on bait record? Thanks again Mike and Damo. Still cant get the smile off my face!
  6. Thanks again for a great day Damo and Mike Wont be able to wipe the smile off my face for a while after getting that big fin onboard. Will be out again with your guys again for sure! Kieran

what you have there should do the trick. jerusalem bay and smiths creek are not far away and produce good flatties and bream, particularly on the run out tide and late arvo. juno and flint and steel are not far away also so worth a shot there for jews. personally i have never got a jew on plastics, always whole bottle squid. best of luck, cant wait to see the report!

What are you targeting? And what part of the Hawkesbury will you be fishing? As long as you have nuclear chicken you can be assured of some flatties. They go mad for them up here.
  12. the bay on the bottom left has a whole lot of leases that are worth trying around dusk, also the dangar island flats are usually worth a shot.
  13. G'day raiders headed out from mooney mooney yesterday at about 10am, mostly just to get the boat in the water and take her for a run. went up to the vines and was quiet for a while until my new rod went off, and after a 5 min fight with a few runs up came a very health 41cm bream. Was quiet after that so we decided to head up towards berowra waters and try our luck with some plastics for flatties. tried a few spots and came up with just 1 keeper just on legal and 4 others just under. wind came up so we decided to try somewhere a bit protected. tried up around bar island for zero. we had enough for a feed for the 2 of us so we called it a day. kieran
  14. The hawkesbury is a big place. do you have anywhere specific in mind?
  15. fresh from local tackle shop (not sure if im allowed to post the name)
  16. yeah was a good arvo, bit cold but you get that with winter. we werent fishing for jew, we were after bream at the vines and flatties at bar island, so just luck i guess. Have previously fished a hole near bar island for good sized jew at night at the top of the tide with fresh squid or live mullet or strips for bait. Yeah the eastern side of milsons is always worth a shot on the drift or anchored and does produce plenty of crabs during summer.
  17. Decided yesterday morning to go for a quick afternoon fish. Launched the boat at the bottom of the tide at Mooney Mooney and hit the vines first up for a small jew around 40cm. Didnt get much after that so went up to a spot near bar island and got another small jew about the same size plus a bloody eel tailed catfish. Was getting close to sunset so we decided to head back to the ramp but stopped at one more spot for a quick drop. Got a flathead about 30cm, tiny tailor, a small bream, a whiting and a flounder. Good mixed bag and a spot we havent fished before so will be stopping in again next time. All fish released except for the whiting and flounder for my dinner last night. First new topic I have posted so hope all works. Sorry about no pics, didnt have the camera with me. Kieran
  18. hey peter, of your ever going again give me a days notice. i havent fished for blackies before and would love to pick someones brains about the ins and outs of it. i work in warriewood so the lake is just across the road. Kieran
  19. I had a quick flick after work today near the punt and got a few tailor on atomic chicken 3 inch minnows. also tried mouldy cheese 2 inch worms but got nothing. there was a bloke there fishing with chicken and beef peices and was doing pretty well for himself. landed one of the biggest bream i have seen come out of that part of the river. he also got a good sized flattie before i arrived. best of luck on the weekend
