  1. the bucket and perspex works a treat.but the perspex will scratch up -eventually when cutting the bottom out of the bucket, leave a lip of about 1cm all around for the perspex to sit on and bind to.
  2. my brother is getting some from the beach.
  3. hi pinkus. congrats mate.we could start a club i got my first EP around the same size on the weekend. it was also on a hardbody it was on a pink bassday sugardeep 35mm.it hit me close from under the wharf i was standing on at The Entrance. i thought was a black bream only realised we only get yellowfin bream.my son pulled it in and wasnt he nearly as happy as me but almost. it was actually my first FISH on hardbody lure [except tailor on poppers] and my son is suddenly interested in the tackle box with all my pretty hard lures in it now. sorry raiders no photo of mine to show at all but i will figure how to use camera phone its been playing up or its too technical n tricky for me. nath
  4. yea mate need to be careful with your money when a good part of it is applied to fishing like so many do..
  5. mine wasnt a dodgy sale, the trailer rego checked out in the sellers name.that makes him tracable for the boat that i bought from him, so thats safe enough for me.the boat wasnt great condition-wise but floats. picked it up at the local public markets on a sunday morning.

    Stone Fish?

i agree thats pretty oogly. i would think stonefish too.
  7. yea mate same here got a 10 foot aluminium on a registered box trailer with barely running 4hp for $400.great for The Entrance.it needs work but im fishing in it meanwhile.
  8. trion tournament is step up in quality from trion at $100.but i bet they on par with other in their price bracket. i looked at trion the other day and found 2-4kg rods at 6'6 and 7'.the 7'was much lighter in the tip to throw a light lure or jighead. id reckon 1-3kg in 7' would be a little extreme for me as i dont use weights of 1 gram or less for luring. 3-6 kg may be an option for you if 4grams is more your weight.hope this helps
  9. 8ft isnt much of a vessel to sit in mate cant help but get cramped up with low seating as well. about 10 feet aluminium 2 seater with a bit of width FOR fishing would be a good start and a small otbooard would push it.but respect that river and ocean also dont forget the oars..
  10. for lures a graphite rod might get a look in..but not lucky enough to know what i would like myself.
  11. pflueger are regarded and around $100 that is ifthey have a baitcaster google their site lox have breakage guarantee although no b/caster? t curve if they b/c sol great too nitro over $400 but nicer
  12. nothing for the thread starter, why bother then mate?
  13. hi anthony night times for bream fishing in winter is nailing them eh mate. nathan
  14. flattys my favourite to eat and always possible.really nice heavy one you got there.blading pretty successful in winter down deep eh?might give it a go and get my old man into it. nath
  15. braid or mono?braid dont stretch when a fish makes a surprising power surge as mono will.but its more sensitiveas it weighs less from the hook to your rod to your fingers when detecting mouthing of your bait.which would be good when detecting when to strike a tricky fish like a jew.they are completely oppasite qualities to consider. i LOVE the braid in the surf myself as its not heavy like mono anD doesnt weigh itself down into the shore or sand break waves so itS better against the constant bump of the broken waves.but i take another reel of mono in case i start losing it to weed knots.pro there for me is not restrictive and con is expense of loss in mid line weed clump. you can think about yours reason(s) for mono and yours possibles for braid in your environment and add what hard reason others give for their preference and you may have a good cause for paying for it. or to know for yourself why a lot of people have it (and some had and they no longer want to know about it)is because they have their own hard reason to pay its price.wondering about it should be a good enough if for you you find theres always new things to love about fishing ,it may be another for you to go buy it to try it for yourself and know whats for you to like about it.really i reckon it could be a good link to a fish in at least one way in every environment any where.but be patient with learning that it needs to find its new lay on your spool rather than its lay on the spool that was in the pack, dont overfill and be knowledgeable and respect its new technologies and respect yourself for that we've only been good at the older (mono)different technology-this stuff is entirely different.that bit is a little exciting to me. how to keep knots out as why they got there from your use will come in early lessons and you could respect mono for its other qualities.or you could not benefit from the different qualities braid may be useful for and not learn why some embrace it.something about that bit that sold me to trying it and sticking with it.i thought theres enough fishers satisfied enough with it that i tookthe chance and experience another WAY OF HOOKIN' UP. so thats a vote from me -for you trying it out- if what i posted may have been too confusing
  16. havent had fireline braid long myself but i reckon it may be preventative of knots to pull out 70ish metres and wind it back in between thumb and finger hoplding with as much pressure as possible to get line twist out.untwistind moo or fluro line can be a common occurence as well as braid for me when winding spinning baits in when not getting fish to take them.who didnt get knots in the days before braid? i used to with mono.still do. fireline braid is flatter rather than round and if i look in the light i can see the twists easily so check it out,a lot of the bottom priced range braids are flat too.oh and while im winding it back in i run it through a weight in a bucket of fresh water when at home as taking the salt off while not using it lengthens its life. stripping it on the beach or running it out of the boat while moving saves time....against a big knot..., as well as line and prevents frustration.i often adjust placement of my soft plastics to prevent soft plastics from spinning as all the cast and retrieving create a big twist and knot and they do spin until adjusted every time.also hard bodies dont always crank straight.i keep an eye on that too. this is number one aspect of knots for me,and proven to me,as twist of spinning bait was the first lesson i learned versus knots.i respect what others have said here but my routine takes all of my head space and spare fishing time as its been kind to me.
  17. that first shot is an experienced take off spot for riding "the point" as its called by some.
  18. thats the same view id used take in each way to primary school.thanks for the memories
  19. ive been considering which rod to get for my first graphite.though i will enter the market for one around $100 -$130.preferences of fishos on line seem to be pflueger strudwick and berkley.looked at that range with others today and found these to be not soft like other rods in the shop.those stronger/harder rods were the ones i like myself better so a look instore certainly tied it up for me.
  20. i think the shallower spool choice on reels give less drag capability.looks though youve settled your choices already anyway.but thought id share this interesting piece of info.
  21. ive found the round traps from tackle shops best for me.they have conical entries each end and each endcaps come off for pulling out the fish that went in.they have a tie point on top for string too.sometimes having cork handy for floating them but mostly they float on their own.put bread bits sticking out the entry holes to coax them to this part of the trap.and as said the key is once one is in leave it in they cant get out, others go in.like sheep.
  22. hi raiders i had a go aound the bridge with soft plastics 2nights over the weekend for only one undersized flatty. yeah i'd say its quiet.got 2 25cm snapper on bait shop squid on saturday arvo as well. chrome lures been taking tailor over 50cm for other lucky fishos though.. natho
  23. i heard a report the strong current was dragging the fads down
