  2. Great report and sweet catch there The georges is producing some great jewies of late do you mind me asking which part of the georges you were at?

  4. FISH 10 Hi Raiders Here is my entry for catch of the month A Beautiful Bream measuring 41-42cm Report HERE
  5. Hey mate, i usually fish at picnic point most weekends. Main catches are bream, heaps of small ones but do get the ocassional bigger one, caught a 42cm one just last week on a 3 week old prawn Also get smaller whiting and some 30cm+ trevs. I mainly use prawns and chicken breast and find it better on the run in tide. Gets fairly busy on the weekends so get there early to get a good spot. Cheers Matt
  6. FFS!! that's all i have to say
  7. Thanks mate, yea there were plenty of jet skiers and boats on Saturday, especially since it was a wonderful day. Its much quieter on weekdays though.
  8. not at the beginning. it stated getting busier at about 2pm. There were alot of people on the rock cliffs but. Sundays are fairly busy down there
  9. cheers mate tell me about it..poor fella must have had a bad argument with the misses
  10. Hi Raiders The Day Before... Me and the brother were looking forward to our first boating trip up the Georges with my father in-law and one of his mates who was supply the boat. After hearing all their stories about them hitting up The Entrance for a good bag of fish, and my father in-laws run ins with some Jewies, well we were in a optimistic frame of mind that the day would turn out great. Later that day... Had a call from the in-law advising that the boat wouldn't be available due to his mates prior commitments. That put a downer on proceedings, however we knew that Sat would be a great day to be near the water so decided to fish land based at P.Point Today... After a talk with the in-law about when to go down (he really loves early morning fishing), decided the best bet would be to show up at about 11.30am as the tide was gonna peak at 3.30. Armed with only prawns and Parmesan chicken breast, we made our way down to the water. Set the chairs up, and i rigged up my rod with 8lb line and a nice prawn, put it in the holder and sat back. The brother and in-law were still rigging up, when i noticed my line getting a few hits. Next thing i know, my rod tip bends over by half and I'm ON, ZZZZZZZZZZZZ the fish is taking line however no major head shakes. Started to bring line in slowly and the fish kept fighting. Me and the brother weren't sure what it was. Thinking it might be a Trev as I've caught one there before. After about a 7 min fight we see a large silver shadow in the water, WTF damn its a Bream and what a specimen it was. Brought the fish in, however had another problem as we had no net and we were near the rock path plus we could see the hook was right on the edge of its mouth. Built up some courage, got down to the water and the brother got it on land. YES high fives all around Measured the bream up, knowing it was big, it went 41-42cm Fish for a few more hours, and my brother was on. This Bream went 28cm and the most interesting thing about it was that it seems as though another much larger fish decided to take a chunk out of it. Not sure what could have done that, maybe a monster tailor. Anyways left at about 4. A great day on the water and a new PB for me Thanks for reading. Till next time Maz
  11. Thanks for the tips guys, mainly targeting flatties and bream. Not sure if im heading out on the boat tomorrow, might go picnic point landbased instead. The area is quite full of jetskiers so might head further down towards como etc if i do end up going. Will check out the areas mentioned if i head out aswell Matt
  12. Hi guys, Weather permitting, ill be fishing the Georges on saturday by boat with my uncle and his friend on his boat. We will be launching at the national park, so i was just wondering if theres any general areas that produce good fish that are not too far from the ramp. Cheers Matt
  13. I am sure everyone on these boards fully understands the laws with regards to licensing and undersize fish, however i'm am not so sure if the general public realize these rules. example being, if my dad came out with me fishing (he doesnt fish much if at all) would he know the rules etc I think not, therefore it will be up to myself to educate. Is this education happening at the moment in the general public? Thats why im glad there are so many fishing shows on TV at the moment to educate people, however more needs to be done. Do fines really make a difference to people who have always kept undersized fish and dont learn their lessons or would more fines reduce them from wanting to fish/keep undersize fish?
  14. just interested but would anyone know of the fishery inspector numbers? i can understand if the numbers are quite low, then this can lower overall inspection numbers, however if there are quite a few around then there really is NO EXCUSE!
  15. it gets under my skin when i see people keep undersize fish could it be a case of, more education is needed on this subject to the general public? or do people really just don't give a ....
  16. Absolutely awesome footage there mate The look on your face at around the 6:30 mark says it all
  17. Wow great session guys  How far upstream do you guys usually head?
  18. The whole area is quite snaggy, have pulled in line with hooks and sinkers still attached numerous times.
  19. tell me about it, its the second one ive caught down there in the last few weeks. their good fun on light line
  20. Hey guys. Fished picnic point today from about 3-6 this afternoon. With great weather i expected it to be busy and it was, but found a good spot and started burleying. Not much was happening, cousin caught a undersize whiting and i caught a undersize flatty. At around 5:30 and getting nearer to leaving i get a decent bite and was on. After a entertaining fight up came a 35cm or so trevelly on prawn. Was released to fight another day. Cheers
  21. The red spot is where i usually fish, it gets busy on weekends but there's heaps of space if you keep walking down. The yellow is where people fish for blackfish. Matt
  22. Hey mate, Ive fished there quite often the past few weeks with limited success. I usually fish near the lagoon side of picnic point, have caught small whiting, flouder, a few 25cm bream, small tailor, undersize flatties and a 30cm trev last week. My brother hooked a larger fish but the 8lb fluro leader snapped. Main bait that was getting hits was chicken breast coated with parmesan. People fish off the rocks for blackfish but cant say that ive noticed much fish being caught. Cheers matt
