  1. Hey Guys I have a few quick reports so i can have a crack at the Records. 1: Brown Groper of Cronulla (Estimate 80cm +) Fishing off Oak park at cronulla with a Cuttlefish head on a cold overcast day. Honestly just throwing the head down cause we could not be bothered to cut the tenticles off cause of the cold. Rod just goes off first time i ever heard drag actually running none stop. Had to chase it a little bit in the boat as we were so scared of loosing what it was in the reef and running out of line. 2: Blue Groper (Estimate around 70cm + ) Fishing in Bate Bay for bream with a 1000 saros and a 2-4kg berkley dropshot with a size 1/0 hook 4lb braid. Rod bends over to the point i thought it was going to snap. Had to hand spool the fish for a good 15 minutes (Lucky i had seen this on youtube videos of fishing) cause drag was on full. I had 20lb leader cause we had nothing else with us. 3: Gummy Shark - 109cm Pretty much same as the blue groper but with 2500 reel 2/0 hook slither of bait while fishing for flathead near jibbon. Light line really does get so much more fish. Brother is holding the fish 4: Southern Calamari. (Estimated 50cm +) Didn't really want to say where but here we go. Caught in Lilli Pilli on high tide between the 8 knot markers and lilli pilli wharf where the sandbar builds up on either side and can be walked on on low tide. Big weed patch there and a great squid spot. 5: Octopus (estimate 3kg +) Caught while squiding of Whallies wharf very late at night. Head is beant over my hand as we had been tenderizing him for ages. If anyone thinks any of the estimates are way off please tell me as we nearly always seem to think our fish are bigger then they are. Thanks
  2. Hey Buddy Youtube (AFC Forster). AFC Bream tournament get techniques and places and is a good to learn for anything.
  3. Well Buddy maybe Friday (weather permiting) you will have 11 Calamari in your fridge aye.
  4. Hey Guys Went out Saturday for a fish in porthacking and around the bomie but caught nothing besides Sgt. Bakers, which are only good for a 5 second run then you might aswell be winding in sea weed. Stopt of at the flathead spot for about 20 undersized flatties and picked up a Port Jackson that someone else must of caught 10 mins before we did cause it didn't run once. After all the dissapointment we stopt at the squid spot and pulled in 11 squid. So atleast we get to eat.
  5. There is a nice little flattie spot just outside the mouth of port hacking should be easily fishable in your tinny. Cause i think we all know Port Hacking sometimes feels like you just out to practice your casting.
  6. Hey Buddy I tow my 5 metre centre console with my gf's little Holden Astra. I don't think you will have any problems with your current car. Besides if it is rear wheel drive and it is low tide and slippery.
  7. Judging by your Name i am guessing you already know what the Co-Ordinates are :-)
  8. Some squid are Bate Bay (Very Close to mouth of hacking any boat could get there). My PB squid were caught about 200 metres from the 8 Knott Zone. Other squid where caught inbetween Bundeena Wharf and Jibbon beach. My spot in Bate Bay is on my GPS and doesn't have a name.
  9. Better head down Myer and put a few deep fryers on laybuy
  10. Hey Buddy I am a bit the opposite. 10lb Braid with 20lb leader I don't think squid care that there is line attached. I have caught monster squid that have been eating a little squid i put out live for kingies. Also caught squids on a hook with squid strips as bait. Some days i rekon you could throw down a dirty old sock squirt some tuna oil on it and clean up as they eat anything. Look up squid eating marlin.
  11. I have just loaded a few pic of some squid i have caught since there seem to be high interest in squid on this forum :-) http://www.fishraider.com.au/Invision/index.php?app=gallery&module=user&user=14840&do=view_album&album=609
  12. Hey Jenno64 I use a little heavier this time of year. Daiwa MD Jig 2500 symetre 10lb braid 20lb leader When a monster jumps on then fills up with water they get pretty damn heavy. I actually have few kg of squid wings and heads i need to offload as i forgot to seperate them into smaller containers and froze them up and i have so many in the freezer i really cant be bothered with the mess of trying to seperate them.
  13. Big Squid make my 71cm Kingie look like a little Tailor
  14. These were caught in the bay this time last year. This is the size i am cashing. Fishing done from a boat early morning, overcast or night never daytime.
  15. Hey Guys Went out Port Hacking for a squid session as it is around this time when the big ones start to come out and play. Pink Daiwa MD Squid Jig did most of the damage and the biggest squid going close to 2kg. Anyone been getting many decent fish in the hacking lately? As it has been a bit dead for me besides the squids. I have just loaded a few pic of some squid i have caught since there seem to be high interest in squid on this forum :-) http://www.fishraider.com.au/Invision/index.php?app=gallery&module=user&user=14840&do=view_album&album=609
  16. This was Last week session. 70cm Kingie to.
  17. Jackets were a problem today for the first time in a while. Hopefully they just passing by cause this time last year Bate Bay was packed with them.
  18. Hey Guys First post on this forum. Went out Bate Bay as usual today which it ended up being pretty good conditions from about 9:30 onwards. Stopt at my squid spot and got a few squid and was trying for some Snappers. Only managed 1 snapper 31cm which went back in. Had one kinige run but of course it took the lightest rod on the boat game over. Ended up with 39cm flathead a half decent leather jacket and a few squid.
