  1. We have been inspected a few times over the years, once at Appletree, there were Fisheries and Waterways looking over boats and gear etc, we were going out (about 8.AM) and Waterways did a safety check while Fisheries were checking gear and licences etc. The one time that sticks in my mind was Christmas at the Entrance, Fisheries went to the wharf on the northern side of the bridge and absolutely made a killing, we had the boat tied up on the sand (it was about 8 pm) and there was a bunch of them. It was very interesting watching Fisheries conficating gear and small fish. They had so many people in strife they called the local Police to help out. we asked the Fisheries later what the deal was and they told us there was a blitz on undersized fish and illegal gear over Christmas and The Entrance was a known hot spot. All I can add to this discussion is we all know the rules and we should all obey the rules, if we don't and get caught whatever penalty we get is our own stupid fault. CYA Geoff
  2. Thanks heaps guys, (and Roberta) we have been lucky enough to fish with Roberta before, just chasing blackies off the wall, smart lady. I am surprised that Flatties are still on the chew as I really thought the cold water would have nixed them. Thanks and hanging for Saturday,(no laptop or emails for a week.......Heaven) CYA Geoff
  3. hey all, got a week at Foster coming up, (this Saturday) and taking the boat, I don't really expect any Flatties but could someone steer me toward some Bream action in the lake. Thanks heaps Geoff
  4. Hey Roberta We (Geoff & Jeff) met you a couple of years ago, we were on the Foster side blackfishing. Anyway what's the scoop on "plenty of fish about". We have the boat and NO KIDS so we are pretty much free as the handbrakes are doing a shopping spree. A little bit of info would be cool. Thanks heaps Geoff P.S Thanks Cut_Loose for the info, we tied up to an oyster lease once and watched the biggest bream you have ever seen swim around looking at us like we had two heads, never mind we will try for some prawns anyway.
  5. Hey All, sneaking off to Foster on Saturday for a week, taking the boat and was wondering if there any prawns about, enjoy a good feed with fresh bread rolls and an Ice Cold Coke. If anyone has any info I'd appreciate it. Thanks Geoff
  6. Richie Blackmore's Rainbow at the Kerb & Gutter, he was smashed so the crowd rioted with beer bottles & stufF. Billy Thorpe and Skyhooks at Blacktown Showground Dec 1974, the Hooks first NSW Gig and they played the whole Livin in the 70's album, we had never seen a bunch of guys dressed like that, amazing. Paul McCartney in Parra Stadium and The Stones at Homebush, and any Status Quo show at the Horden. CYA Geoff
  7. Hey all, just got back from the shop after jacking around with our Johnson 70 which was not a happy camper. Between us and the good folk at Fishraider we fixed it. 1) The one way valve in the bulb had collapsed (actually broken) 2) A small peice of junk had lodged under the needle & seat of Carb #1 from the one way valve 3) Half an hour later and it runs like a dream. 4) Hopefully out this weekend after some jew. Thanks to all for their suggestions. CYA Geoff
  8. Steve, Had the exact same thing happen last week, Johnson 70 HP 1986 model. Ran fine all day on two of it's three cylinders. The one that was a dud was number one (the top one) Got back to the shop and started playing. All cylinders had spark, so we swapped plugs (maybe a dud plug) but all were OK, swapped coils, same story, number one did not fire but had spark so that tells us no fuel. Pulled air filter thingie off to get to carb drain bowl screws. start at the bottom, number 3, bowl full, number two bowl full, number one dry as a (yeah you know). So now lets look further, the fuel bulb (black thing you can pump up) would not go hard and would not push fuel through vaccum the fuel pump fitted to motor. however if we pressurised the tank fuel would run out through the filter no problems. So the end result was the bulb had passed on and there was not enough fuel pressure to fill the top carb, replaced bulb and rock n roll, it all works again. CYA Geoff

I own a publishing company (not desktop but full on Colour glossy magazines) and we produce 2 x 56 page mags every 2 weeks, MAC MAC MAC MAC MAC MAC MAC MAC MAC, I think you get the drift. And don't be fooled by clock speed, the Mac equivelant is heaps faster than a PC CYA Geoff
  11. Welcome to the rest of your life. Back off on P-Platers ??? NO FU&*%$G WAY My daughter just got her red P's (first go) and I honestly don't believe that she is a great driver yet. mate, it's all called experience, and included in that experience is attitude, of which all the young ones I see(plenty from my girls schools) have the big bad "I know what I am doing cause I have my licence and no one is gonna tell me what to do" attitude. My girls go to Layola at Rooty Hill, the school that tragically lost those young kids last December at Glendenning. It is ALL about attitude. Both my girls compete in Motorsport and as I write this we are still in the USA after racing here. Now I totally believe that they are under absolute control on the dragstrip but on the street I'm not so sure. As a Dad I have done all I can to get them to this point in their lives, the rest is up to them, but if I can prevent something tragic from happening I will, and at ALL COSTS. As I said at the start of this rant, if that's the worst thing that ever happens to you life will be a breeze. Keep smiling cause you will get your licence, and than the responsibility you have will be huge. CYA Geoff
  12. All you blokes going fishing this weekend are lucky Ba@#*&%s I'll be in Las Vegas with the tribe drag racing this weekend, but I will be back and on the water for an ANZAC Day fish. CYA Geoff
  13. Off Corlette is a small broken reef, about 30 metres out from the shore where a small stormwater drain empties at a little sandy beach, if you drove by car it's just before the small group of shops where the hardware store is. there are plenty of wrasse (butchers unsavoury characters) and red rock cod. If your too far out you will get shovelnose sharks off the sand, keep coming in till the wrasse start. Pretty easy to find. CYA Geoff

    Hubs

There are 3 major bolt patterns that trailer hubs are manufactured with in Australia in the 5 stud pattern. The "early Holden" pattern which is 5 stud with a PCD of 4.25" (PCD is Pitch Circle Diamater) these hubs have a 7/16" diamater wheel stud (7/16" Right hand thread). Early Holden is FE (1957) through to HG (1971) The "Late Holden" pattern is 5 stud with a 4.75" PCD pattern. It also has 7/16 studs and is HQ (Late 71) through to HZ (1979) Do not fit Commodore wheels to HQ style hubs, they are Metric PCD 5 on 120 MM and whilst you can force them on they bend studs and give a vibration. The third pattern is the Ford pattern, all fords from 1967 (XR) to 1994 (EF)? had the 5 stud 4.5" PCD with a 1/2" right hand thread stud. Of course there are 4 stud Mini wheels I can't remember the PCD sorry. Hope this helps CYA Geoff
  15. Jeezus, 44 years ago we stayed at a place at Budegwoi that backed onto the back channel, except then it was a stinking creek with NO FISH, an old wooden bridge and no water flow between the lakes. Anyways the old man ( oops Santa) gets me a fibreglass rod for Chrissy, so I'm there fishing like a champion not getting jack when Mum calls me in for a drink. Out I go again and pick up the rod, it weighs a ton and Dad makes me bring it in. Well F*&% Me, there is the biggest mullet you ever saw on the end (remember I was only 4) it frightened the s*^t out of me, I dropped the lot and ran for my life, all the relo's were cacking themselves. When they got me back to have a squizz the mullet was still frozen solid, the old man thought I needed a bit of encouragement so when Mum called me in for a drink he attached this stinky frozen mullet. I was 48 last November and I still remember that day clear as a bell, I taught my 2 girls to fish when they were about 5 or 6 at ATB (mid teens now) and have had a few mates kids catch their first one out with us. Yeah I still get excited about going fishing, these days it is THE ONLY THING I DO that actually relaxes me, I wouldn't change it for quids, and whoever thought up this thread, KOOL!!!! CYA Geoff
