    Trolling Tips

I would try Rapala Xraps. For me,they seem to work better than most. You could try across the heads at Botany Bay, from the Oil Wharf across to the Bare Island bombie, around Yarra Bay and from the heads at Botany Bay down to Bate Bay. Good luck, Hiles. Cheers, Scoop

    Numbfish

    What a shocking story. Scoop
  5. I used car polish on a cotton bud then gave the whole reel a light spray with Inox. Scoop
  6. I haven't yet mastered how to post photos yet.I'm a bit like Tony Abbot ie not much of a techno head.... but I will learn soon. Tried the polish and this worked really well. I will be a bit more thorough in future when cleaning my reels after a session. Thanks for all the comments. Scoop
  7. Hi Locodave, These spots may be of help to you : Hawkesbury 1. Walker Point : On the northern shore between Patonga & Juno Point. 2. Juno Point to Walker Point along the shoreline. 3. Railway Bridge hard up against the pilons. Berowra Waters 1. Brittania Rock : South of the Berowra ferry. Locate the large cave on the shore and fish the channel. Hope this helps. Scoop
  8. I'm not meticulous in cleaning and servicing my reels, however, I do rinse and clean after every outing and oil and lube every so often - maybe 3-4 times a year. What I have noticed on some of my reels are small area's of corrosion which is green in colour. Does anyone have any thoughts on the best way to remove this without causing any damage to the reel. Cheers, Scoop
  9. Between Shark Point & Shelley Beach Baths at Cronulla there are spots just off the Esplanade which are flat and reasonably easy to access. Little Yena at Kurnell is easy to access and is a short walk from the carpark off Cape Solander Point. If he has a 4wd he can access Boat Harbour at Bate Bay and fish the beach or rocks. Hope this helps. Scoop
  10. This time of year you are likely to pick up tailor or salmon with the odd bream or whiting early morning or late afternoon depending on the tides. Probably better around towards the Green Hills area or closer to Boat Harbour. Chance of a jew as well if your lucky. If you have a 4wd then you can get access to Boat Harbour off Captain Cook Drive via an access road but you will have to pay entry. Cheers Scoop
  11. This is just an observation, but I feel that the Marine Parks Poll should be highlighted in other area's of this website so that it is brought to the attention of the users of the site. I only came across it by accident and feel that it should be pinned in General Fishing Reports, Game Fishing, Lure Fishing as these sites are more widely accessed.Hopefully, this may encourage more Fishraiders to vote. Cheers, Scoop
  12. The first fish is a Bearded Cod. The second fish is a Herring Cale. Not sure about the snail. Cheers , Scoop
  13. Agree that it is a Purple Wrasse but I'm more inclined to think that it is a male. Cheers Scoop
  14. Try Kiama. It's close to Sydney.Has a safe harbour for the kids to fish from the wharfs. Plenty of options for beach & rock fishing & outside fishing if you have a boat. Heaps of cafes & shops for the wife including plenty of places to eat. Google some of the local real estate agents for accomodation or try some of the caravan parks which have cabins etc. Enjoy your trip. Cheers, Scoop
  15. The middle fish looks like a drummer but has interesting stripes, very faint, like a blackfish - cross bred ? Cheers, Scoop
  16. Don't bother taking a "Jacket". You will find plenty out there. Scoop
  17. Dave & Will, Lake Conjola is a great waterway which can be very productive. However, the flathead fishing over the past few years has dropped off somewhat due to the weed infestation taking over the lake. The weed covers the sand bed floor and makes it difficult for the flathead to bury in the sand which is there natural cover. Having said that there are still very good flathead to be taken around area's such as "The Steps".Catch & release is the go especially for the larger fish. Other species you could target are whiting, blackfish, bream & tailor. Lures work well on the flathead and nippers can be pumped on the sand flat close to "The Steps". Hope this helps. Scoop
