  2. Great. Thanks guys. Talk about your quick turn around. Businesses dont get back to you that quickly
  3. Switching from mono to braid. What breaking strain do you suggest for above fish (plus salmon when the chance arises). Got 10lb mono on at the moment.
  4. Great articles!!! Thank heaps, that given me a good point to start from.
  5. Hi guys, Keen to switch from bait soaking to lure fishing from the shore while im over this way. Anyone got any tips on where or techniques. Guess i'm hunting flatties and bream (figure they're the most common catch). Picked up some pearl Berkley 3"power minnows and a prawn looking lure the tackle shop guy insisted was the best. Live on Botany Bay but now have wheels so can explore a little further afield. Or if anyones keen for a fishing expidition let me know. Dont get home til 8'ish mon to fri so weekends are probably best. Tight lines all
  6. Let me start by saying that i've met two of the coolest guys this side of the country, Sharky and Outnumbered. After getting an invite to meet them at 5am for a crack at kingies I was there faster than you can say boo. So before the sun was up we were on our way across Botany Bay. With the entrance behind us we cruised up the coast with a beautiful sunrise to our right and spectacular cliffs to the left. With a couple of rods in the holders and one in my hand outnumbered proceeded to explain the subtle rules of how a dry run results in the new guy doing backstroke home when BANG line starts racing off my spool. Cranking up the drag and fingers crossed for a Kingie I started hauling him in. As he approached the boat he had one last crack at freedom before I drew him along side and Sharky scooped him up with the net. And there he was, the most beautiful (and first ever) kingie lying at my feet . Up against the brag-o-metre he measured in at around 50-55cm. Not quite legal but big enough to put a 6ft smile on my face. With the kingie back in the water and my kingie-virginity left behind we turned south to try other areas. Unfortunately the rest of the morning didn’t prove productive but I didn’t mind, my trip was made. I can’t track down my cable for my camera but rest assured I shall find a way of uploading the photos over the next couple of days. So how’s that. One Kingie bagged for the day and it was by the tourist with an aching for that kingie experience (maybe it was fish’s intuition). Thanks again Sharky and Outnumbered for your great hospitality. I shall never forget my first (and definitely not last) Yellowtail Kingfish. Tight lines all Rus

  8. huh??? Arent the whiting any good over here. In WA they're a sweet delicacy, especially the KG's.
  9. Hi guys, Im from Perth, over for 2 months and boy id give anything for WA to have a site as cool and informative as this. Just doesnt have the population for it I guess. Have learnt oodles from this site already, not least that everyone wants to bag the same thing as me, Kingies!!! Have to get one before I get back or ill not live it down. Problem is im boatless and transport is limited. Good news is im staying at Dolls Point/ San Sousi. Any advice on where I can head? Can you catch Kingies from shore? If so can they be caught on bait or is livies/lures the only way to go? Also would love to bag some Aussie salmon. Got a Perth mate who brags about his salmon expiditions (be nice to show him a photo of me bagging one ) Thanks heaps for a cool site and best of luck next time you're wetting a line.
