  1. Damn, bad luck mate, could be 20-30kg kingie !!!!

I don't have any problem with FG knot :) The more you pull FG knot, the stronger the knot is. I always pull tight at each 10 turns to make sure knot is strong and remember to lubricate the knot before tighten as well. Normally braid colour will change when I pull at last.

  2. You should have approached them if they were taking undersize fish. There are always people keeping undersize fish at the south head of Maroubra and I have no issues with questioning them. It's tough, but has to be done.

Last time I did that and nearly get bashed. I mean LB tho.

  3. Hey mate,

I tell you the easiest way. Just go to Super market - buy pork mince or any mince ($2-5). Grab some and chuck into water as burley then drop the line. You will get hook up within secs.

    Cheers,

    Max

  4. Nice squid mate. I got one around that size yesterday afternoon down on the port hacking. It was taking line like no tomorrow!!! It justed smashed my 2.5g yamashita....

Thanks mate, squids are coming in now. Will go chase more after work haha :) Any pic of yours mate?

  5. Hi All,

Attached pic is the squid that I caught last week. Caught on Yamashita 2.2 glow orange.

I didn't measure the length but it was as big as my thigh :D and my height is 172cm.

    Location: Watsons Bay

    Thanks,

    Max

  6. Hi Mate, I just LB and use Snell knot for 2 hooks. Hook right below top 2 fins.

They have different of type of presentation for boat. I just google it and found some pics with explanation for you.

    http://www.bdoutdoors.com/forums/fishing-tutorials-members/163382-live-bait-presentation-can-make-you-break-you.html

As for squid presentation, I can't find the thread on raider anymore. I remember PRED-ATOR has drew some awesome pics about how to hook them. Maybe someone will find the thread for you.

    Hope this helps

    Cheers,

    Max

  7. Hi

Sat does not looks to good.. It all depends How big is your boat. And your experience to handle the boat.

If you look at the weather 1 m wave with 5 sec wave period that is choppy. May not be a very good day to go wide. As for the forecast rain it does not looks too bad after 8 am but at 5 am it is bad.

Good luck let us know how u go.

Look at http://www.windguru.cz/int/index.php?sc=208682 may give u bit of more details. like timeing of the rain and wave.

    BigKing

    Hi Raj :)

    Thanks for your reply.

We have decided to go next week as you mention it could be quite choppy and not safe. We want to try jigging and that is why we need to go out bit far.

The site you've given was awesome. Will use it for next time :)

Oh btw, when are you going to take me out for kings haha

  8. Hi Mate,

If your heading outsied its not the rain that you need to worry about, its the wind and swell. Check out this link,Bom Wind/Waves, best forcast around from my experience. Also check seabreeze, etc. Keep in mind that when you read predictions they are often very general for the whole of Sydney, small storms can still hit only localised areas.

In terms of safety alot depends on the size of yout boat and the skill/knowledge of your skipper. A few km out is far enough if you get stuck in the wrong weather in a small boat. I have a 4.5m fibre glass half cab and i only ever go out if conditions look perfect AND the prevailing weather system is stable.

Please dont take offence but by the very nature of your question you really should do some more reaserch and gain some more experience if you are going to be the captain of a vessel heading offshore.

    Rich

    Hi Rich,

Thanks for taking time to explain. Skipper is quite new and we don't have much experience with the boat. Boat is around or more than 6 meters and we have decided to go next week.

Thanks for the useful site and I have bookmarked to check it next time :)

  9. Mate just depends how sheltered your spot is. I have fished in howling rain in the hacking a number of times and it has been pretty safe, but uncomfortable though. For the bay you should be considering the wind and the swell though as it can get pretty choppy...

    Thanks for reply mate.

It would be bit windy at morning and wind should be going down from 11am. As this is my 3rd time going out on boat, I am not sure what would be like rainfall of 1-5mm. We're just planning to go few km out to like 70meters for jigging :D

    Hope it would be sunny.

    Wind for Sat.

    8am - 20.6 km/h

    11am - 14.5km/h

    2pm - 11.6 km/h

    5pm - 8.8 km/h

  10. Hi All,

Just got a question to ask about Rainfall. Is rainfall 1-5mm safe for boat fishing?

One of my mate booked the boat and we will be going out tomorrow?

We will be launching from 6am - 5pm. Most likely will be back to Botany bay around 3pm.

    Thanks.

    max

  11. So jealous. Good work mate. Wish I will have boat to chase kings haha.

Great to hear you put it back. Maybe you will get hook on again when it becomes bigger. Sometimes I still see some azn that bleed undersized kings at kiama :( Such a shame cuz i'm azn too.
