  1. I dont think your tying it right mate, it should'nt slip at all.

The only problem ive had with an albright was after heavy constaint fishing i have noticed wear on the mono around the loop.

There are good instructional vids on youtube that show you step by step how to tie correctly.

Its only a good knot to use with braid to heavy mono leaders, if your just using light to medium leaders stick to double uni and take your time tying it.

yeah mate, I did it accordingly from youtube video :( Like i said, I caught over 45+ bonnies and salmons for last knot.

Oh yeah, I notice something as well. I lost the line when I cast it for first time and 2nd time. Could it be because of knot hitting the rod guide?

  2. Kinda happen to me at beginning as well.

I was using 65gram metal and I couldn't catch anything so i switch to 40g. Once I switch to 40 gram metal. I couldn't believe that I got one even 1 or 2 cast :D

Play with the speed as well. Sometimes, I wouldn't catch anything on fast speed then i'll try to slow down bit.

  3. Hi All,

I'm currently having some problem with my fishing line. Mono always slip away with albright knot after fishing for few times. I have even tried with improved albright with super glue and I lost my mono line again (float + size 6 ball sinker + hook + pilchard). My last joint was before just X-mas and I caught over 45+ bonnies and salmons.

To give you details of my setup, i'm using Seagate 4500h has spooled up with 30lb braid then approx 6-7 meters of 40lb mono. I just need mono to cast so that I won't cut my hand with braid.

So i'm just wondering if you guys have the same problem or am I doing something wrong? Please give me some suggestion :(

    Thanks.

  4. Hi max. Yes the spot is the right side of the stw. From the carpark, you can go down in front of the carpark then go around the rocks on the left side or go up the hill and follow the path going to the right side. Its better to go there in daytime specially it is your 1st time. It can be very dangerous there at times specially after dark. Always watch the waves. Plenty of bonito there at the moment. The spot gets really packed specially on weekends. Try to get there as early as you can. Some even stay there overnight on weekends. Hope you catch heaps. Regardd

Awesome. Thanks for advice mate :) I'll go day time if its not too windy :D

  5. Hi Guys, just quick few questions on Hill 60. Is that Hill 60 is referring to rocks behind Sewage Treatment Works? I'm planning to go take photos and fishing with my gf on this sat.

I saw it from some photography forum about someone took some beautiful shots at "honey comb rocks/Hill 60 @ Port Kembla". So i'm just wondering if that is the place?

I'll be taking my spin rod to see if I can get something as well. North or South of hill 60 will be better for fishing.

    Thanks.

  6. Yes, it can be dangerous falling in those deep holes, but I don’t think it’s as bad as going rock fishing with huge waves smashing nearby.

All you need to make sure is that you have a good pair of grip shoes, be light with your fishing gear and balance. I don’t recommend it for young kids & make sure there is another person with you.

I recommend you check the place out before fishing & see if it’s a place for you to fish.

    Cheers

Thanks for info, Triton :) I'll try next week. Do they have any gate there? What time you reckon is the best?

  7. Thanks Peter. The gear I used was an Okuma Reel / 8 Foot Ugly stick rod, 20lb line, sluggo's (white), no leader with a size 2 ball sinker.

Botany Bay seems to be on fire with bait fish feeding, allot of fish appearing on top of water.

Camera is now charged & in my fishing bag, all ready. Now just need to pick a day to get out there.

    Cheers :biggrin2:

Nice. Btw, i heard my fren said it's quite dangerous there and you might fall into those concrete. You think it's safe?

  8. double check if you can fish at botanic gardens, i thought u couldnt

Botanic Garden is not a good place tho. I went to Peir 2 on Sunday 6am. There was like 10 people there and no spots left. So I went to Clifton garden and got there like 6:15am. Again, there were like 9 people !!! Wasn't even high tide and people were there. I fished for like 30 mins and a guy caught tailor, I would say it was under size but he kept it. I notice few other guys caught small fish too but they never put it back to water

Stayed for another 10 mins and I left to Bradley's head to have a look. Wasn't that nice either lol. Finally I decided to go back home at 7am to sleep haha. FAILED

  9. u dont have to go of the rcks for kings there are some good landbased spots around Woolloomooloo i have seen some monster kings cruise past few guys with me got spooled on light gear in seconds!

Nice, I just looked up google map. It seems that end of botanic garden could be good too. Garden Island looks really good spot but I don't think you can fish there.

  10. Im happy to take you rock fishing some time mate although im busy the next couple of weekends

If your inexperienced I would be very mindful of fishing off the rocks, especially on your own.

Make sure you tell people exactly where you will be fishing and what time you plan to be back, wearing an inflatable PFD is a great idea and NEVER turn your back on the sea.

    Good luck!

    Musty

Thanks for reply Musty. I know it's dangerous. Maybe I'll just try out at Balmain area until i can look for someone to take me around :)

  11. Hi Guys,

I'd like to chase some king fish. I never caught King fish and I'm fairly noob at fishing :( I heard that there are lot of kings around Sydney Harbour now and hope to chase some kings or bonito from rock or around harbour (landbase). As I'm inexperience in rock fishing and limited knowledge to rock platforms, I don't want to go by myself. I'm willing to travel and preferable around syd harbour.

Or if you have any good and safe spots for newbie, please let me know :) This sat tide is kinda good and if it's not raining, I'll go alone.

    Your name: Max

    Your Location: Sydney City

    Fishing technique: Rock Fishing

    Availability: Saturday Only

    Preferred location: Happy to travel

Provide your own gear? I have 9ft and 13ft rod + reels

    Thanks for reading
