    Hi I have found lately that most new model reels (include ABU ) quality is not of the top standard any longer.Since they where manufactured in the East ? I found that many parts that hardly ever rusted .Now is rusting much faster than in the past . Even bearings ? Your guys thought on this will also be appreciated ?

    Hi David I currently have only one motor on my boat .The result being that I had to wait some 4 hours in blazing sun ,for a tow. CDI decided to stop working after 20 years. Lucky this happened on a fresh water lake. Out at sea I have also prefer 2 x motors even with the higher running cost . Better than waiting for hours to get towed . Love this quote of yours : " So ask me one engines or 2 and I will tell you about not needing to be towed twice." So true

    Very nice revamp ! Enjoy the boat with or with out new steering ! Second thought I agree with the other guys . A new steering will be good !!!

    Very nice build !! Do you use "letter sets" for the letters on rod ?

    I would have love to help . Only to far away !! Google : " rebuild boat transom " may be you can get some ideas from the sites that then is available. Good luck

    Think that idea can work to lock rods & reels. Just remember that most pad locks can be broken with 2 x flat spanners . May be one need to fit the lock in some way that only a key can get to it ? My 2 penny's

    Its always sad to hear of some ones lost of any property (your case a very nice boat) Hope they find it very soon . Some years ago a friend of mine's boat was taken from behind steel fencing . The a...... broke his gate down during day time .When he was at work . Found it a few weeks later. Where it was parked at some one else's home. My late dad always said " any lock is made to keep an honest man honest and not to keep a criminal out "

    Mako I can agree with you as a ABU lover/collector. Even if you want to pay mega bucks for new reels.They are still not up to standard as with most of them now manufactured in the east. The material used (even stainless) is not of original standard. I have found many new models rust in places where the older models never did rust ever . Even if we abused the reels.
