  1. Thanks mate! I’ve cracked that PB now though. Wasn’t on fly, unfortunately😔 Most times I’m out in the yak, I’ll have the fly with me. I think I can cast quite well these days, but would still like to work on a few things. A decent Bream and Whiting are this years targets.
  2. Hi mate, I’ve only just seen this. Thanks for the reply. I’ll be in touch after the silly season and we’ll see if we can organize something. Cheers, Adam.
  3. You’re pretty much spot on with the set up. I use a 4000 Twin Power and a Shimano Starlo Stix shore spin (9ft, 5-10kg) It’s rated to throw 10-35gr, but I throw 40gr metals no worries at all. I think I’m using either 12 or 15lb braid and either 20-30lb leader, depending on where I’m fishing. This set up holds up for solid Salmon and decent Kings off the rocks. It’ll be a work out, but you’ll get them in. I’ve used this set up for plastics off the rocks and beach too. I’m not sure what the Twin Power pulls in for each revolution, I just wind faster if needs be. 😂 Hope this helps you a little bit. Cheers, Adam.
  4. Stay safe mate!! I was at Woongarrah at a mates for New Years last night, we were starting to get a bit worried about it. I went up to Bunnings at Lake haven in the arvo and heard some bloke say it was started by some kids bonging on in the bush. 🤬 Bloody shocking if that’s the truth. Hopefully it settles down and they get it under control.
  5. Change the Fluorcarbon for Mono. Mono floats, Fluorocarbon sinks. If you’re using surface lures, you can affect the action using a sinking leader.
  6. Just to throw more confusion into the mix....could be a hybrid. I reckon Bass though. Most hybrids I’ve got look more like a Bass (body and colour) but with the scooped head, but not as scooped as most Perch. It all gets confusing if you overthink it. Your best bet is to say ‘well, I got this in total fresh, it’s a Bass. Or, I got this in salt, it’s a Perch.’ And yes, I know they cross over. I’ve gotten Perch way up and Bass way down.
  7. Bass have a white edge on their pelvic fins, Perch are all dark. Perch have a bigger, blacker eye and the scooped forehead. Once you catch a few of both, you’ll notice the differences every time.
  8. I fish around there a bit, just keep at it and you’ll find fish. The best piece of kayak advice I can give you is to take an empty bottle with you, for when you need to ‘go’. Saves trying to find a suitable place to get out of the yak. Best thing I ever did! The ol Pee bottle! 😂😂
  9. It sure is a shame, we definitely need a good drop! I’ll keep at it though. Even though no fish, we did have a good weekend away from Sydney.
  10. No good, Frank. Stopped at Flat rock camp ground on my way out. Spoke to a bloke who was leaving, he said he’d been there for a few days and got some good fish, all on fly. I fished with plastics and didn’t get a touch. I then drove to the place you told me about. I think I found it, but there was hardly any water there and it looked tough going to even get to the water line on the northern side of the road. Drove back into Bathurst and stopped at a shop for some advice. Got given a few spots but all I saw was Carp. It hasn’t deterred me from trying for Trout, I’ll put in some more research and see what I come up with. Wentworth Falls lake and Lyell are my fall backs.
  11. I’m actually heading up this weekend. So if anyone has any more advice, feel free to throw it my way.
  12. Cheers Frank! That sounds like an option, I’ll have a look at that for sure.
  13. G’day gang. Thinking of taking a drive out to Bathurst soon, not so much to fish, more for a day road trip, but I will have a rod and a box of lures with me. With limited time, I won’t be able to explore much area, but I have looked at the water where the highway goes over the river, just coming into Bathurst, on my way to the V8’s, and it looks like it could hold some fish. Any locals willing to throw me a few options or a little knowledge, I’d appreciate it immensely! Cheers, Adam.
