  1. Anyone fished Narra lately? Gave the lake a go the other day, not much success with only a few undersized bream and all released. I did see a good size flattie while wading on the flats and that was about it. Also saw someone catch some good sized bream and flatties on live poddys, that seem to be the bait to use on the day. I was also trying some of the gulps that I had found lying around but no success!
  2. I have my symetre matched to a rack raider. Lovely rod and can be found at places for $99.
  3. Hi raiders, Do anyone one of you know any places where i can hire kayaks down at lake illawarra? Cheers.
  4. ok, so visual inspection is the best way to find bait schools?
  5. Thanks for all the tip guys. Boofhead, no i'm not from Orange! This might be a stupid question, but how do you find the bait schools? Im planning on hiring a tinnie over the weekend (first timer) down at the Hacking and definetely want to give a shot at the Salmon...
  6. Hi Raiders, Just bought myself a Twisty gold today. Whats the best method to use such a lure? Do i retrieve it as fast as i can? And what areas should I cast my lure into? Sorry for all the q's, im very new to luring. thanks.
  7. Hey guys, Might be going down to Maianbar for a days fishing on the sand flats. What should I specifically look for to find areas that hold fish? Should I walk out to the edge of the flats and fish the drop off? I will be pumping some nippers there and maybe giving SP's a go. What are some other recommended baits? I will be landbased. Cheers.
  8. Great stuff Pete. Still haven't had time to go up to Narra yet to have a go at those monster flatties. Hows the water level at the lake? Is it still quite low? Cheers.
  9. When you guys fish with bait like whitebait, do you just cast out and leaving it sitting there or do you twitch it every now and then like a SP?
  10. Ok, im going to give some whitebait on gangs a go some time next week at narra. See if i can get any of those monster flatties!
  11. mrsswordfisherman, That pink sure looks flashy! I like the look of those guides
  12. What size hook do you use? By the way, how big are your whitebait? I think the ones I buy are terribly undersized (around 5cm?) and would not fit on a 3 gang hook setup. Thanks.
  13. Hey Pete, Do you mind telling me how you rig your whitebait? Mine keeps coming off the hook when I cast as they seem very mushy. Thanks.
  14. I use a rack raider and its not a bad rod for $99 at most places.
  15. landbased for me. still saving up some money for a boat.
  16. davemmm, Thats the method i use, a juice bottle with a hole but my hole is about 4cm by 10cm. See if there are any poddies in the area by throwing some bread in first. Make sure you place your trap in shallow non tidal water near weed beds. Thats where I find most poddies to be. Also try microwaving your bread to make it crumbly as this will disperse through the water better. What I usually do is place some bread into the trap and some floating on top of it. Once they finish eating the bread on top they will venture in. It is also best when you re-set your trap to leave one poddy in and others will follow in.
  17. Yeh I've fished a few times wading tha flats at maianbar and at bonnie vale. But the problem is it is just to far for me to drive down there! But since we want to hire a boat anyway we were deciding whether we should fish the hawkesbury or port hacking. Thanks for your advice.
  18. Thanks mate! Just found their webiste...looks good. Cheers!
  19. Hi guys, I'm looking to hire a tinnie with a few mates later this week. Just been searching for a while and have found one place up in the hawkesbury. Does anyone know any near port hacking as i want to give maianbar a go for whiting. Also does a hiring a boat generally includes fishing licences for all aboard? Or will my mates have to purchase licences as well? Thanks.
  20. Fletcher, I'm probably heading down tomorrow. But i'll be heading down late in the afternoon. Any other raiders interested in heading up to the lakes? We can probably meet up later in the week earlier in the day. Cheers.
  21. Fletcher, are the fish still biting? I'm planning to either go up to lake either tomorrow or sat. Thanks.
  22. Not sure if my memory is correct, but i think i was told the nexave range was exclusively made for the tackleworld chain.
  23. I need some help too. Tried out my alvey combo today..how do you cast these things!
  24. not a bad idea, we could also give the lake a go if the action on the beach is slow.
  25. I would be interested, i just bought a new beach rod and looking for someone to learn from. I hear North Narra is not going too bad at the moment.
