  1. What a great result, Kevvie!!! :1yikes::1yikes::1yikes:

    G'day kantong,

Soldier crabs are also supposed to be great bream bait.

    Flattieman.

    Gday Flattieman

with these crabs, how do keep them on the hook alive? will they bite through the line?

Will you find soldier crabs in mud flats? I thought you only find them around sandy beach areas??

  2. there a few varietys. Ones that u said with the large claw. The brown shelled ones under the rocks, the green shelled orange claw ones that live in the mangroves in holes or the baby blue swimmers but these are rarer to find. Any about the shell size of a 5 or 10 cent piece will suffice.

so you can just dig around those mud flats and pick them up?

wats ur method of catching these critters? ive used some bait to lure them out before, but never thought about using them as bait. Now i know better

    a crabbing we will go....

  3. Gday raiders!

time to bring this thread up to life. There's heaps of members but so few entries.

    Here's a bit about myself.

My name is Kevin. I live in Glenwood with my family. Im 22 and I study IT and im about to graduate this year. I've been hooked on fishing since my dad took me fishing at the entrance when I was like 8 or 9.

My first fish was a sand whiting about 30cm! Ive taken to fishing on a more regular basis since then. My PB so far would have to be a gummy shark about 3kg and a silver trevally that went 1.3kg.

Ive just found fishraider this year and love reading the reports from the members!

I fish mainly from the shore, but if I can get a ride out, I love the opportunity. Ive only been out with Kikila on Botany Bay, so look forward to meeting and greeting the raiders on the socials.

My :wife: loves fishing too and i'll be bringing her out to the socials when I can.

favourite spot is on the rocks at the entrance to the cooks river going into botany bay.

    tight lines :1fishing1:

  4. I totally agree with your comments Flattieman. But we can all see there is an abundance of carp around, and I wouldn't like to see hard proven facts that carp were the main causes for such things as soil erosion or decrease native fish stock because if we got to that stage, it may be beyond our control.

We should compile a list of our favourite spots to catch carp, sharing is caring!

I personally have not targetted carp, but would love to have a crack at one. I heard in Europe, its some kind of sports fish to them! Australian Carp charters we come!!

  5. good read mate. unlucky with the eel. I myself is not jew obessessed but then again I havent really tried targetting them. They seem to be a difficult species to catch with alot of hours and fuss about it. Maybe im not patient enough for it, plus i dont have the gear for jewies.

    looking forward to your report.

    cheers
