  4. Hi all, Just booked another charter to hit swains reef on the kanimbla in March. I currently have a saltiga z4500h and was looking for a rod to match up to it for the reef fishing up there, I don't plan on chasing Gt's just trout & emperor etc. I don't want anything to heavy as I want to enjoy some decent fights not just skull dragging them out. Does anyone have a similar combo or a rod that you can recommend? Happy to spend up to $350 or there abouts. Appreciate your help gents. Benums

  17. Hey all, Had a good session out today with Scotty Lyons. went straight to Trevally alley first thing for sun up. had a good go there and caught plenty of trevally, kept our fair share about 15 or so and through a heap back. tried the troll around the bay there and then headed for the 3rd runway to see if we could find some tailor or salmon on the troll. Only got one on the troll. then we noticed some birds working at the eastern end of the runway. headed on over and done some spinning with great results, I'm sure at some stage all 6 anglers were hooked up at once. had a great session of tailor, we bagged about 16 tailor and one salmon, could have had lots more tailor if we hung around. headed into the beach for some plastics without too much joy, southerly start to blow up so went to Towra to try for some flatties but no luck. all in all had a great day on the bay with Scott. Thanks Scotty and will definitely be back out soon with you. make sure you get some pics up when you can.
  18. Hey guys just back from the Point. Nothing to crazy to report back was a little quiet. Biggest I got went 55cm and 900g. Got half dozen all on plastics. Fish were very quiet. Heaps of small squire around. Thanks for your help
  19. guys im not really a regular down there so where exactly is GP and the islands you are talking about. Im staying in the caravan park that is next to the bowling club. I know of an island that is just across from there but dont know of amy others. Will definitely try off the red post near the trawlers, I know there is a channel on the south side of the river heading tpwards the breaker wall also so will give that a try. Thanks guys. will report back early next week and let you know how I went. Cheers Ben

  23. Hi fellow Raiders, I haven't hit the water for about 10 months or so as ive been to busy. Finally i will be getting out on Sunday. Ill be dropping the boat in at Oatley and was just wondering if anyone has been having luck in the Georges or Woronora? I was thinking of trying between Tom Ugley's and CCook bridges? Any ideas guys? 24. Thanks Huey, My dad actually took the motor back to #### marine as that is who we bought it off. They didn't even take the motor out of the boot of the car, they just said its cooked and here is a quote $2500 for a new one. They said it would cost $3k to rebuild. It was a month and a half out of warranty. So I spoke to a friend who knew a guy at #### marine. So I rang Steve down there and he said drop it off. While we were waiting he took it out back and pulled the thermostat out and it was full of weed & sand. The motor had overheated because of this. He said not an issue and he will get it fixed. I said go ahead and do whatever you need to do. Next day I got a call from Steve and he said the motor is ready to be picked up. I said what did you do to it. He replaced the head gasket and gave me a bill for just under $200. Steve is a legend and I cant recommend him highly enough. Thanks to everyone for your thoughts. Benums P.S: cant wait to hit the water again....
