  1. Have to pick an end North or Southern End (Collaroy) when its like this. The middle goes baron. I think it may be when there is a long shallow shoreline. But those gutters looked good Its not fair I know.
  2. I tried too and i live on Narrabeen Beach. There was a few in close gutters that looked productive. Narrabeen is like that sometimes. I would suggest Collaroy for in close gutters, and use beach worms. I mean just a few meters out, you would be amazed. Look for that sharp drop just from the shore. You see punters casting right over the fish with star sinkers and rods in a plastic pipe and wonder why no fish. Live worms at Narra Bait and Tackle work well. I prefer to spend 5 bucks then stuff around these days. The lagoon mouth is open again, if you can stomach seeing the tribes of people take everything with a heartbeat it can be ok. Would love to take a six pack and sit back and watch Dept of Fisheries go through the lot of them. I stick to the surf.
  3. Hi My son was at the kayak hire and was feeding fish with bread and they were everywhere, they would eat cheese, pastrami you name it !!, Was getting dark so i could not tell exactly what they are. For second I though mullet. Great for lives, but not if they are bream of course. I beleive thay had black tips on the tail. Some poddy yes but they have more a slim height on the body. Can anyone clear this up for me??
  4. Due to the massive swell it's a giant sandbar I hope tomorrow digs out some gutters Really quite bad for fishing
  5. Definitely a salmon as it runs big time, than gone. Not always, but I've just noticed with no drag it's tug tug and reel em in. I can't seem to get anything else of narrabeen at the moment. Even sized down to little 6 hook and worm. Salmon take that too. I have 4days off. Any other locations in northern beaches not plagued by salmon? I have not done bungin in a while?
  6. http://www.fishraider.com.au/Invision/index.php?showtopic=57142 Kokoda gtr ultra applause 30x abrasion resistance 8 pound in grey. you won't be disappointed.
  7. Hi raiders, I am finding with gang hooks and having the drag on is less effective for hookups in the surf. Letting it run tends to result in a mangled pilly. Or fresh fillets spat out. This is probably salmon specific as it is the season. Any one else?
  8. Also great of the rocks. I think it is actually designed for the rocks. Hence its great as leader. I love the Platinum lo stretch too, mmmmm Orange colour. They are quite a similar line. The GTR is not a stiff so you do have to be careful when spooling an Alvey. Get that spontaneous Alvey Birds Nest. Look down and Love my mono. Braid has made fishing a more expensive exercise. I have found simplifying everything back has helped my results and over all enjoyment. I only have a few sinker/gang rigs in zip lock bags, bait and beer Less gear keeps you on target. And bait in the water.
  9. Hi Raiders, Been reading for a while, and decided to make my first post. I live on the beach, garage to the sand. Its great. I do a lot of fishing from the beach to say the least. Anyway, I have found a very cost effective and line to use. But no sacrifices. Kokoda GT-R Ultra 30x Abrasion mono. It is super strong, when you feel it you will instantly notice how different it feels. smooth. Super low memory and stretch. Knots slip in place perfect. Also excellent to join to other lines. Which leads me to my next point. It works as a fantastic leader. 30lb to 40lb is so strong its scary. Also a perfect line to practice knots on. You will get 300 meters of surf leader for $20. This is tested, and tested. I have not bought leader in years. And of course for main line goes with out saying. See ya. Let me know how ya go
