So I was having a couple of beers the other day with a mate and we could not come to a coherant conclusion, so I am putting it out to the wider community... Had never really given it much thought, but it certainly got me thinking (and a little confused).
The question is, if you are fishing a gutter on the beach, when does the tide run out the strongest? Is it approx half way out on the run out tide (like my mate thinks), or is it half way in on the run in tide (like I think)? The theory behind it is that there is more water running in to the shallows, which needs to be removed via the gutter, which will lead to a stronger out-going current... Would it be stronger than the current on the out-going tide?
Thoughts?
Cheers,
James
