  1. By the time we topped up with squid again, it must have been around 10.30 when we busted up on the first one. We also got side tracked by the impossable salmon that just teased and wouldnt touch anything we through at them.
  2. Many trips this season for nothing, however today was our day. Squid were easy despite the wind, we had nine in less than half an hour. hit up the usual markers and pretty quickly lost all our squid to pickers. Stocked up the tank again with more squid and finally pulled a few nice kings off the Dobroyd Markers. Had to be patient, but they did come through. We pulled out an 88, 93 and 94 and a couple of bust ups The guys next to us got a cracker just short of a meter, and we noticed they too had a couple of missed fish. tight lines Baldy
  3. Before you know it, there will be a boom gate on it too, just love the authorities
  4. Well within his bag limit responsible fishman i say.
  5. The marks on the lower left of the screen are definatly Cobia feeding on the bait ball ;-) Baldy
  6. Looks like they have put on a little weight since last year. The big rain appears to have helped. Great report Baldy
  7. Had a Marine Biologist from QLD out on the boat a few years back He had done a study on Tailor He found that tailor would regurgitate the bait, so that they can eat more. Ironicly. It was more previlant when they upsized the bait. So If the tailor go off the bite, Increase the size of the lure, or the size of the bait your using Sorry this post does not answer the trout question. Baldy
  8. Lon nose is about a mile and a bit south of where you are taling about. on your RHS or western side of the Pittwater Baldy
  9. Squid hard at first, but found a few little ones at the basin up near the net LHS of the drop off as you look at the net, more toward the beach. Big ones at west head. managed 12 all up by 9am Rats at clareville bigger fellas at long nose Over and out Baldy
  10. Hey guys Quick report that we finally got amoungst some good fish in Pittwater today. 3 x 85s and 6 rats. Bout time they came in !!!! Baldy
  11. My only advise to go with all the bling bling tackle boxes for this and that. It to also have one quick referance box, and keep out and handy. It has one or two squid jigs, a few metals, a few sinkers all sizes, a few hooks of all sizes. That way your not rumaging thru all the box when a school of tailor pop up. or that squid comes up chewing on a pilly etc baldy
  12. Hey Knuckle Tip ?? work hard, thats the only tip i have. We were on the water at 5, and didnt drop a bait till 30 mins or so after the change of tide. IE The bite improves with a moving tide. the slack tide is shit unless your after a jew. Baldy
  13. Found them tough but with persistance we managed 3 kings and 11 squid. Have never had the fog hang around for that long on the Harbour, was weird eh.
  14. Ummmm Its called fishing Some days you win, Some you dont chin up Wrinks
  15. Dont anchor on the Western side ( main channell) side of the Western Cake. You will be asked to move and or be fined for anchoring in the channel The sticks all the way thru to shark island is designated as naval waters Dont anchor there at all. again you will be asked to move and or be fined Not sure about Clifton cans ?? it appears that the clearance zone has been extended to 300 mtrs. SO not sure how they will be policing that one this season Baldy
  16. The Penn 850 and or 950 are bullet proof. Trust me. Kings this year are hopefully bigger than last year. So spool them up with 80lbs, tighten that drag to 7 -9 kgs to start with, and hang on. I so cant wait ITS GOING TO A CRACKER SEASON
  17. Ensure that whoever you have on board can handle some very improper behaviour. They are not just blokes that like to get that all over tan My Dad ( 73 ) still cant talk about the last time i took him out fishing in the area your heading. PS Clearly, we couldnt fish there, had to " move on " to another spot Baldy
  18. The boys from Shimano wont be happy to read this post. Not all that fare on them Baldy
  19. Quick up date Definatly worth the trip. Bagged somewhere between 15 - 20 fish. not big, but mostley keepers, biggest going about 35cm Great weekend was had. Baldy
  20. I'd love to go with you Nanook, however my 3 knee reco's wont cope with the walk in that your previous reports suggest. If you can drive in ?? i'll be there baldy
  21. Just do the course ( if you can prove your hours ) Then if they dont think you have enough hours outside, they will issue a restricted coxswaines
  22. Brookvale Tafe does the coxswaines course. Forget how long it is for partime. but perhaps a year doing 2 nights week ?? ( forget now ) Course is not hard, but nor is it easy. requires study, There is alot more to it than just being able to drive a boat. Navigation, evironmental studies, polution, radio course to be done via an outsourced form of eduation, not a tafe course. ( cant get one question wrong in that exam ) I forget the amount of hours i needed, but 1500 or 1800 ??? from memory is where you need to be. These hours cant be falsified. I would suggest getting a ROS book from Maritime. and get all skippers who have let you drive there boat ( over 5 mtrs)to sign off on your hours. I guess the hardest part is the practical test with Maritime. they Throw some curly questions at you and yo have to answer quick, and correct often whilst driving their boat. Guess that will do for an answer ?????
  23. thanks guys perhaps i'll hit the Kowmung then. Bald one
