  1. If you are anchored and they want to have a chat they should approach from the bow of your boat better than comming up the back where the berley is going, but this can still spook fish. Most of the reefs have numerous areas to fish.
  2. I think some people dont know where to fish so they go to where other people are fishing. It is very frustrating if you have been berleying for reds on anchor for a while and they drive close to you through your berley trail, I usually tell the where to go and they take off.

    Old seafarer

I have had a v-sea with a 70hp (old set up) went well, and I had a viking with a 90hp yammy for 23 years, this boat was a dream boat plenty of fishing space and very stable. It got me back safely in some horrible conditions when I got caught out and I was glad I was in this boat. It was a 85 model and I would get another at the drop of a hat if I could. As you said check the transom and the floor. If you find a good one grab it as you wont have any problems on the water with a seafarer.
  4. try turning the squelch down to you hear static sound, turn radio to ch 16 as this channel has the most communication.
  5. I ran a dual battery set up for years in my seafarer and ran it as the marine store owner said and had no problems, it worked fine. what is a vsr kit anyway. Cheers glenn
  6. Keep putting salt on the pillies and they will toughen up, nothing worse than soft pillies. Should be able to catch salmon during the day no worries if they are around. Good luck. Glenn
  7. dont think my 14ft tinny would make it out to 500 fathoms

    ENGINE FLUSH

I flush with freshwater for a while then turn motor and hose off. I then disconnect the hose at the tap and pour dishwashing liquid into hose end re attach hose to tap turn tap on and start motor again. The dishwashing liquid goes through the motor removing the salt. I was told this by a marine mechanic who said the dishwashing liquid removes the salt but plain water wont. The tell tail of the motor comes out frothy. I used to use straight water on my other motor and I had to have it repaired and I was really surprised at how much salt there was in the motor when it was pulled down, and the motor was flushed religiously. So I now do the dishwashing trick. Glenn
  9. rock cale's are not wirrah to the best of my knowledge, looks dead to me.
  10. Are the trawlers working the area, or just anchored up for the night. I was under the impression they cannot trawl Bate Bay. Suppose their trawling where they cant the fisheries and water police would be on to them. I have seen them anchored up and catching bait fish.
