I'd never bought squid best rest assured they aren't nearly as good as they tend to need to be truly fresh, rather than just not off. Also I personally wouldn't consider buying anything that came from a hawkesbury trawler.

As for the boats at Scotland Island, and moored boats boats anywhere for that matter, I don't believe flushing salt water out is particularly important provided the engines are used often.
-
great boats. Pure function

Mate I had the exact same problem down at Clifton Gardens last week.
I managed to get 2 but only after they hit the 1.8 jig about 3 or 4 times.
They kept coming from the side and wouldnt get caught on the end barbs...bit strange as I've never had this problem before?
Cheers
Andrew
That's just what often happens when you're fishing down at you feet from a wharf or boat for squid/cuttles that are so close you can see them. you can't work the jig in the way that is most conducive to hooking up.
a perfect remedy is one of those truly tiny jigs that are way smaller than yozuri 1.8s

Nice work...I'm pretty jealous.
Do you guys only work where you mark fish? Why aren't you mentioning what town you launched from? It doesn't really narrow it down too much does it?

what was the water temp hodgey?

any one heard any recent port stephens reports?

I don't know many rays that hold out 50lb gear for 30mins
-
I use 4lb braid/ fast action 2/4kg rod, and fish with ultra-low drag and hardly ever drop them
-
That would be a good day in my book for sure. what waterway are you fishing?
Also, its catches like that gurnard that make me want to really get serious about a temperate aquarium
-
you sure do well. great results!
what waterway is this ?

How extensive do you suppose the effects of the ban on profishing in the harbour will be?
Do you think the inshore and offshore areas around sydney will improve noticeably from the protection the 'nursery' harbour?
The thing i'd most like to see is better snapper/jew/bream fishing inside and inshore.
discuss.

damn. would love to see that video on youtube !

Overheads reels are not consider the best reels for jigging for a couple of reasons,
When jigging with a overhead reel you are constantly balancing the rod because it naturally wants to spin back to a lowest point position.
Also, It takes you considerably longer to get your jig to the floor then it does with an eggbeater, this is very important because you wanna hit the strike zone straight away and with an eggbeater you literally get down to 100 metres deep about 2-3 times faster then with an overhead, which means you have alot more time to jig.
was jigging at the peak the other day and the torsa was only taking 20-30% longer to to hit bottom than the stella, the torsa had slightly thicker braid as well.

you did better than us
went jigging
found some decent marks around a fish trap
got two 50cm snapper on jigs to the boat
only to have them both sealed.
well done to you

this fish was only 40cm? or a different one? the one in the photo looks bigger, but then again photos can deceive. What kind of lure did you get him on?
