  1. I know there are many of us who are concerned about the impact of pro-fishing in Pittwater and the Hawkesbury. Its not just because there are less fish for me to catch its because the damage to such a beautiful marine environment is something that truly disturbs me.

There have been political attempts to ban pro fishing in the area, but the expenses of buying out licenses undermine support for such a venture.

Basically I think a a good way to challenge pro-fishing in the area would be to finance a survey of dioxins in resident fish. I suspect that, like in Sydney Harbour, unsafe levels of dioxins would be found. After this information hit the media, the public reaction may create a lobby for a politician to step in and do something about it and it could achieve a situation like we have in in Sydney Harbour, which lets face it, has done wonders for the situation here. What do you guys think?

  2. I heard that they are made by the makers of the full boar boats and were going to be in the 4-5m range. I saw some photos and they looked really nice but now there is very little trace of them on the internet

    does anyone know the story?

    starlo was promoting them

  3. Do you swear by bait jigs or do you lose your patience to tangles?

^ 6 hooks is too many to manage efficiently. The rig is too long and prone to tangle.

another reason is that if you spend 1 min baiting the 6 hooks, the first yakka you hook is probably going to shake most, if not all, of the baits off. (Unless you're using a tough bait like squid) it's more efficient to cut bait jigs in half so there's only 3 hooks, and bait one with pillie and the other two with something tough or you waste too much time.

  4. great stuff mate that is a cracker catch.

Ive gotta ask though, how come you chucked it back? She sure looks legal, could have been some nice fresh kingie cutlets for dinner.

    Well done all the same.

they tend to lose eating qualities when they get bigger, and they have more breeding potential at this size, so the smaller ones are better to keep

again very nice fish on light gear, did you measure it?

  5. I like to hit every metre of the spot at least once. If the spot is ten metres long I'll systematically cast once into each metre or so. I never really change colour as I never fish alone and we'll always use different colours. If we have been squidding for ages and one colour has got them all while the other colour hasn't been hit then I'll consider changing...

I pretty much only squid shallow, so i stick to the smallies.
