  1. A 90 hp two stroke. Previous owner said it was just ok but more power would be nice . The boat doesn't have the identification plate stating min and max HP recommends
  2. Gday everyone. I have recently purchased a stessl yellowfin 5.8m plate boat. I bought it with a stuffed motor with the intention of putting a big four stroke on it. Preferably a suzuki Question is, how big? It will be used for gamefishing mainly.
  3. gday, Im in the market for a high quality, light barra, cod and heavy bass bait caster rod. Must be shorter than 1.9m. I have a Gloomis 10-17 lb topwater series rod as my main barra rod, and want this rod to be one step under this , perhaps 8-14lb reel will likely be a chronarch or similar. whats your ideas ? thanks in advance
  4. I use the mid knot. works on a similar principal to the PR knot but you dont need a bobbin to tie it. Has never ket me down on marlin to 100kg and kings to 40kg.
  5. Gday all im in the market for a new barra bait caster. I would like about 6 foot long. Will be mounting a cronarch on it. Would prefer a loomis but other high end options welcomed. im a bit out of the loop these days, let me know what you blokes think. Something sub $500 please.
  6. sounds good mate, im only having the 4 weekdays off work seeing the 26th is a public holiday. I think were flying in on the sunday and coming home on the Sunday
  7. Gday all, a group of us are heading to the Ranfurly's we went last april and had a ball, best king went 38kg and best sea bass went 43kg. We had that good of time we booked it again for the January long weekend. 5 days, boarding the night of the 24th Jan. Its a live aboard charter. Long story short, two blokes have pulled out, leaving us short. we would like 7 blokes to share the costs. We have 5 definates. All top blokes, love fishing and a beer at the end of the day. Its primarily a jigging trip, but we troll marlin lures too and from the grounds each day. the cost is bloody cheap if we can split it 7 ways. Ill discuss price with keen people over the phone or by email. Were flying to Auchland on the 23rd, hiring a minibus and driving to whakatane to board the boat on the 24th. we get off the boat the night of the 29th. heres a pic of the 38kg kingi and i , if anyone is interested, have a look at the enchanter web site listed above.I can be contacted on 0409 782 736 My Name is Grant Speed. or grant.speed@parchem.com.au. I live in western sydney, if interested parties want to meet beforehand, that would be great, we can have a few beers and a chat. Also, i can forward the trip itinery to those who want it. Keen parties will have to coff up $500 each to secure their spot, which comes off the end bill, payable to the captain at the end of the trip. Feel free to contact the captain to validate any info and pricing. If you feel funny about paying us the $500 deposit, pay it direct to enchanter. Its a friggin good trip fellas, come and get ya arms stretched.
  8. gday all, the outfit consists of a Jigging master PE5 reel, with daiwa saltiga pe8 braid. The rod is a Jigstar 350gram rod. Bloody awesome setup. The jig was a 400gram cheepy inblue green and gold, The trace material is actially only 120lb fluorocarbon or 150lb jinkai plus. Cant remember which. Looks thick as in the photos for some reason.
  9. i havent caught kings over about 15kg in australia mate, so its hard to gauge. The New Zealand fish go bloody hard, and we still got smashed up on PE8 braid. in years gone by we fished for kings in australia with 10kg, 15kg and 24kg gear and the kings seemed to go bloody hard and beat us up a bit. With todays tackle and heavy braid line i think we would have won alot more battles and knocked them over alot quicker. All the fish over there are super fit and in great condition. Would love to know what that big king had been eating, but we released him to stretch some other anglers arms
  10. Gday all, Not long back from a jigging trip to the three kings New Zealand. Fished on a boat called enchanter and had an awesome time, many kings over 20kg Biggest kingy was 38kg and biggest sea bass was 43kg. Both caught by yours truely. The luck went my way for a change.
  11. A mate of mine was a professional sand crab trapper in QLD and has tried everything imaginable. Mullet with the gut in is the best bait. He reckons he bought a heap of gutted mullet and was only half as good. Cut the mullet in half, leaving half the gut in each end of the fish.
  12. gday mate as the other blokes have said kings hit baits pretty hard. Only pin them thru the nose if your trolling them or if the current is racing hard. pin them thru the top of the shoulders, if using an offset hook make sure the offset is pointing upwards , not downwards. Yacca's dont need to be pinned very deeply, they have tough skin. Go alittle deeper on a slimy. if you have plenty of livies, i run a stinger which is usually a small but strong trebble hook. Yes the baits arnt as mobile and dont last as long, but the trebble rarely misses. Just replace the livey when it dies. I suspect you might have been getting harrassed by small bonnies at north head. They will attack anything.
  13. g'day all, if anyone could point me in the direction of a good pair of polarised sunnies for under a hundred bucks i would appreciate your advice. Mainly used for fishing so fashion doent have to be a deciding factor. Im sick of spending big bucks on sunnies only to lose them, scratch them, break them etc.
  14. geez things must be slow out at orange mate. Im looking forward to hearing another report in a few years time when someone captures the stickface again. He'll be a bit bigger then, and will put up a better fight, maybe even give his old man an uppercut for making him run around the yard with a stick in his gob and posting it on the net. Make sure you use those photos for his 21st too. well done, bloody hillarious.
