  1. hi raiders, happy new year everyone!!! its been awhile since i posted but always reading all the reports whenever i can. decided to hit botany bay with 2 of my bff richard and basil. got a call from basil (28/12) asking if i want to go fishing (29/12). the forecast was not good but decided to have a look anyway. suppose to go fishing on 28/12 but decided to pull the plug coz of the forecast from willyweather with over 40kph winds over 2m swell. got to the ramp around 530am and the parking was already half full. decided to hit our bait spot to collect some squid and yakkas. lost our downrigger on our way to our bait spot. forgot to lock it on the holder. basil got the downrigger from overseas. not a very good start. we are targetting kingys hoping to take home a hoody. got 2 squid over a dozen yakkas and slimys in about 1hr so decided to hit our kingy spot. caught the 2 squid on the orange jigs, yakkas and slimys on the chicken strips and pilly fillets. got to our kingy spot and quickly setup and sent the 2 squids 1 yakka on float. caught our 1st kingy around the 30cm trying to eat the 20cm yakka. that was really funny. the kingy was trying to swallow the yakka so my mate basil put a pilly cube and hooked the 30cm kingy. the 2nd kingy we saw was about 10kg trying to grab one of the squid on float but the squid kept on squirting the ink to the hoody. that was a sight to see. for the next 4hrs we saw rats and hoodys playing with us only managing to hook 4 rats around the 55cm on yakkas and metal lures. decided to pull the the plug around 2pm. decided to go back the next day (30/12) with my bff richard my eldest son robie and his bff reece. i told my son robie and his bff reece i will take them fishing on 28/12 but cancelled due to the forecast of winds over 40kph swell over 2m. anyway decided to take them fishing on the 30/12. got to the ramp around 5am and there were already heaps of boats lining up at the ramp. took awhile to put the boat in the water so quickly went to our bait spot. saw over a dozen boats sitting at molli point but only 1 boat sitting on our bait spot. quickly anchor next to the other boat and started to catch some bait using chicken strips and pillys. my bff richard forgot to setup the reef anchor which put an end to our plan of targetting the kingys. for the next 2hrs we filled up our esky with slimys and yakkas. my son robie manage to land a 30cm kingy. his mate reece manage to bag out on the slimys. it was reece 1st time fishing on a boat and looks like reece had a great time. back at the ramp around 9am. thanks for reading and wishing everyone a happy safe and better 2019
  2. Hi raiders Its been awhile since i posted. Just want to verify/confirm if a fishing ban at clifton gardens My mate went there today and saw the sign
  3. Just gonna do it manually atm...esky didnt come with a drain plug...lol...will be using it to keep the fish we caught alive as long as we can together with the livebait...the esky is 44ltr so hopefully we can fit the bag limit on the esky...lol...

  6. Thanks mate...yes its not worth the risk...always a next time...i never go outside when the swell is over 1.5m and wind over 20kph...been stuck out there around long reef in 3-4m swell in a 50ft boat...not very nice...took awhile to get back inside the heads...we were going minus 4knots for while...
  7. Thanks mate...i always ask everyone to wear pfd when we go outside no matter what the weather is...been caught outside a couple if times when the weather changed from good to bad in minutes...took forever to come back in...

  9. Thank you very much for all the replies...yes we need to get that radio working 100%...looks like we need a bigger boat...been outside many times before on a 50ft and only taken a 4.5m around the heads from manly all the way to bundeena...well just have to stay close around the heads this weekend hoping for a dolly or 2...thanks again everyone...
  10. hi all just need advice on taking a 4.5m stacer with 50hp to the sydney harbour fad and 12mile. my mate wants to take his boat this weekend to the fad and 12mile hoping to catch kingys and dolphinfish. he caught a couple of dolphinfish last week on live yakkas off the sydney artificial reef and now hes very keen on checking out the fad and 12mile and try his luck. planning to be in the water by 3am from the rosebay ramp then head out at 1st light. forecast for this weekend looks ok atm but wont be going out if the swell is over 1.5m and wind over 20kph. how far is the fad and 12mile from the heads??? there will be 3 fishos on the boat and got all the offshore safety gear except the 2way radio is not working 100%. thanks in advance

  16. Hi raiders Decided to check out the spots down south last sunday 18/03/18 Left home around 3am got to hill60 around 430am Only 1 car in the carpark which means its not looking good Told my mate well wait until 1st light so we can see the swell alot better While waiting in the car around 4 cars have arrived and went straight into the ledge Told my mate well still wait for 1st light coz i hate fishing in the dark lol Anyway after about 15mins saw a couple of fishos going back to their car so i went out and had a chat with them Both of them told me that the swell is very huge and too dangerous to fish the ledge so decided to leave and check bass pt Got to bass pt just before 6am but the gate was closed so decided to go to stanwell park Got to stanwell park around 7am and there were plenty of surfers already Decided to try the beach hoping to catch anything that we can take home like a salmon or tailor Anyway decided to pack up around 9am with nothing to take home My mate dropped his new slammer 3 on the sand when we were packing up and sand went to the spool and the reel Lucky there was a fresh water tap nearby so i quickly remove the spool and washed the reel Home by 11am Thanks for reading

  18. Hi all Just want to know if anyone here can give me fishing spots that are family friendly Im taking the wife and kids on the easter long weekend Thanks in advance
  19. big congrats to both of you excellent team work just wondering how heavy was your mainline will that be some sort of record for a spin reel never seen a marlin caught on a spin reel before we always use 24kg tiagra combo chasing marlin and its mostly hard work when you hook a marlin so fighting one on a spin reel will be at least 5x harder i reckon what size was the spin reel sold my 12000sw saragosa combo recently this story made me want to buy another one lol very well done again to both of you excellent report
