I went there with the sole purpose in mind to bur a bull bar for my triton & got a nice 20% discount.
Just as well I didn't get to the fishing area otherwise it would have burnt an even bigger hole in my wallet

Reviving this old thread as I am about to do the same thing.
My question is,- is it absolutely necessary to take %100 of the old paint off if you are going to paint it the same colour??
-
Whats the best time for blue eye out there?
-
If anyone ventured out in that weather they need their head read?
Safe travels yowie, hope to get some reports from up north ?
-
Was it an out going tide that produced those waves yowie?
-
Nice, do you normally get them that close to the coast up there ?
-
Thats where the fun begins ?
Yeh sad loss but lesson learnt I bet!
-
Great catch & release
-
Nice, so these were caught inside the bay then??
-
Some wrasse are also protected so make sure you check your DPI species chart
-
A few good fish.
Nice to release that big Girl.
It's the law in QLD @ 75+ should be here too!

We will come in line with qld on this when qld come in line with the NSW timeline
Nice fish yowie, good to see some decent sized fish coming from the hacking!
-
Thanks guys, think I will head to the hacking for a bash instead.
It did seem to be concentrated near the ramp & I could even see faecies in the water!
-
Not sure if tbis is the right place so mods please relocate if need be.
Just asking those who have been fishing in the bay within the last 7 day's if the water quality has improved?
Pushed off from foreshore last week & the smell & sight of raw sewerage was a big turn off.
Also the thought of eating anything caught would be crazy.
I hadn't heard any warnings but it was the worst I had ever seen.
Anybody else notice this?
Was actually over a week ago, 3rd february.

Nice work yelnats, Im sure they all pulled above their weight.
Got to get out there for a go myself.
-
Awesome stuff ?
Bet is just great spending time with the old man, catching a fish is a bonus ?
-
Plenty of fish in the bay Xsite!

So were you out there in the tinny??
I have changed all my small metals to a single hook, so much easier imo.
-
I was using a penn GT330 50lb and 80leader.
That's the same set up as me & cant imagine getting smoked on that but hey there are some big things out there
11 days till I head up there for a 3 day quick bash.
Will be fishing land based so does anyone have any suggestions on locations?
I've read in the examiner(on the net) that Zenith is now open to fishing, is that correct??
Ive been trying to contact the DPI for 2 days but no answer

Nice catch.
Well done

Well done yowie, you are the Hacking king

Great fish mate.
Well done

Firstly, no marine parks up here are marked clearly. You will have to rely on maps and they are very strict.
Shoal bay has a ramp itself and is very easy to use for a boat your size. But my suggestion to you would be to put on at soldiers point and drift the islands and work the rock walls and surrounds. I'd be happy to take you out and guide you around for a day!
Cheers scratchie!!!
I can attest to that!
I got fines $500 for being 10mtrs inside the sanctuary at the first eastern point from the break wall!
When I asked where are the markers they said well its from the point to that marker in the middle of the bay
Dam money grabbing if you ask me, should have more buoys outlining exclusion zones imo!
-
Nice one Scratchie, I love it up at the port but don't get there very often even though my family own a unit a Nelson bay
Mostly been out on charters when I have an extended stay which we normally come back with a mixed bag.
Summers & warmer currents are on the way

Well done for taking your own time out & show the Hospitality you have shown to someone that the only thing that brought you guys together was FISHRAIDER !!! Gotta love this site ......
+1 to that!
Land based fishing spots for Australian Salmon

Yeh pretty much any beach could produce, its a matter of timing.
Anywhere in the northern & eastern beaches will hold salmon schools at some point.
I caught a large AS in botany bay once so you never know where they will show up.
Good luck
