  1. I would like to try hawksbury but not sure of the land based spots there that are livie friendly
  2. Cheers for the replying, did alright bring them to the harbour got a few tailor up to about 50cm. Was interested in targeting Jew with them since I always use yakka or squid to catch them but mullet seem to live a lot longer the tough little buggers.
  3. Gday raiders, I got myself some live Poddy mullet to use up and the tides look good for tomorrow morning. Was thinking maybe garie beach but haven't actually used them off the beach before my other plan which usually works at highish tide is use them inside the hacking on some sandy areas for some decent flathead, but I would like to try catch something different with them other than flathead. If any one would like to share a spot that they do ok at with Poddys send us a pm don't have to be the hacking I am willing to travel an hour or so also if someone wants to tag along or would like some live bait to use let me know. I am land based and don't have a boat. Cheers.

  5. maybe raise the posts to 100 that way you can get a better idea if they are morons or not and also try get some more mods in if you don't have much time on your hands they might be able to fill in some times? this is a great site and there are a lot of other solutions to this problem then giving up all together you should not let this upset you so much i hope you can find a good solution for this. cheers Jason
  6. hey im keen to head out to try catch one of thses things i was gonna start giveing them a go this weekend let me know mate.
  7. The weekend is looking good so far for an outside shot I was there yesterday and the conditions where horrible and the current was hollowing! Managed a few snapper the biggest one going about 48cm..... Your best bet is to find some nice ground and pick into it as close as you can then start a burley trail with the nastiest fish bait you can find lol,Make sure you don't break your trail as any reds you may have got into it will move on if it is broken. The best way to fish for reds is with a hand line but if you are using a rod just use a light rod with about 4kg-6kg line and try get some fc leader on there and run a small ball sinker right down to the hook the weight will depend on how hard the current is. Cast it out so it ends up where your trail is drifting to and leave the bail arm open and let line out nice and slow and just be careful of the bottom as you will loose your rig if it gets stuck on the reef. If you get a take just let it get a bit of line first then shut your bail arm and strike the reason for this is if a nice red takes your bait and it feels any sort of weight it will let go straight away and it may not be hooked up. You can also fish for them with heavier gear on the bottom or a bit above it but you will get a lot of rubbish as a bi-catch and your bait taken but if you want to do it this way get a bigger size hook on there so you will hook only bigger reds as another bi-catch of fishing this way you could also catch kings, amberjack, etc and if you are fishing into the night you may also get a trag this way. But remember the most important thing burley! Might see you out there this weekend Good Luck! Jason
  8. Hmm I was out there with a friend on sat we started at about 9:15am we fished a deep hole off Lilli Pilli for heapss of under size reds! And we got a few nice tailor and then hit the flats for 2 nice blue swimmers but was really quite for there... I have heard a day time jewy there is not uncommon

    Hairtail

hey just wanted to know if any one here could help me out on how to catch these weird looking guys... I have heard that they come on in the colder mounths and are good eating as well. Were should i try for them and what techniques should I use to do so... I will be doing this landbased for some reason I just got intrested in them lol so any help with this will be much appreciated Thanks Jason
  11. Sounds good to me if you are using it on a offshore reef you got a good chance of attracting some nice reds! Only problem would be you might have to much hardware on it to get that really big strike but sounds like a good idea.. Were did you buy the sinking Berley trap from might give it a go my self ... Yes it is true that we won't be seeing megan in those movies any more but they should get another super hot robot loving chick
  12. first post and first report...sorry about the lateness but it took a while for me to post up but now everything is all good Had a arvo shot on sat with with a couple of mates on one of there boats.... rat kings on the bait ground in the harbour annoying the yakka's, finally got enough bait and headed out to a 40mtr ground, a bit of swell, but nice and smooth, wind variable, so we had a bit of a problem staying on the mark, we went to re-position and lost a pick..., very quiet with virtually no current wasn't the best omen. Rats or should I say mouse kings grabbing livey's and strips and running round all the other lines provide a bit of entertainment for a while. Other boats left and we had it to ourselves, still wasn't looking too promising, the current started to pick up a little on dark, so we hit the berley hard and I scored a amberjack!! on a fresh squid head.... and a few reds started to turn up mostly around 1kg, then my friend pulled one around 2 and a bit kg and came in at 59cm, his first decent red!, just as we were about to leave large choppers and trag appeared, i managed to pick up a nice trag around 3.5kg and was 73cm! on the lie detector we had to pull the pin then as the boat ramp we launched fromm has the gates close at 9pm so had to leave the trags there for another night as there were alot more... there not the easiest fish to try hook up lol but were prob gonna have another crack at them this sat when we head back out there... will put up a report on how we go cheers Jason..
