  1. Yep everything Brickman said, particulary

about the bommy near the boat harbour entry. At times it can break right across the entrance so head in slowly and if its breaking pick a safe time between sets to head in. Theres plenty of parking as well. Enjoy your trip and keep us posted :)

  2. Ok.. as its only any marine chart im not giving away any special secret so here goes. If u are traveling West under the Bridge stay about 10m to the right of the triangle u will see on the bridge and travel along that line westward as you start to aproach several boat sheds( from memory the 3rd ? ) the depth will drop to about 22metres. It runs for perhaps 50 or more metres so its easy to find.

  3. Hen and chicken as well as Canada bay are good landbased, can't imagine it's different in a boat...

Hey Task, without knowing a lot about your boat and gear etc, For an all round spot id try around the Gladesville Brigde area , there is a good drift from the new bridge towards the old pilon westward that can produce good flatties and under the Bridge on the Gladsville side right under the trianagle marker and westward there is good deep water 20M which hold jew and Trevs in season .

Busy boat traffic here so pick your times :)

Good stuff Sailfish , thanks for the pic and i hope you enjoyed releasing them or eating them it as its YOUR choice. :) I most likely will not try your spot but its taught me a few things about where Jew may turn up.. Thanks for being a good raider :)

And Mr Jew hunter can you explain a few things as being a member here i am very confused ? When Sailfish posted a very honest post about his catch stating when and where the fish was caught,, he recieved nothing but greif from you in regard to its location and the health of the fish etc , and then you followed and made the comment "Sounds like it will be as busy as Pitt St again.Another good spot ruined". Why is our fellow raider being ostracized for providing truthful information to his members and doing exactly what this forum has been created for ? It appears to me and no doubt others that you may be trying to persuade people against fishing here for your own selfish motives as you are the Jew Hunter and he has found a spot on your turf !! If he caught a leather jacket at Parra Weir you wouldnt say Boo !! As a Moderator your posts on this thread as well as others should remain impartial and not dictate to members on what they contribute to the greater raider forum .

  5. Hmmmm ive caught but not eaten heaps of blackfish from that spot and they look in PERFECT health and they would more than likely stay there longer then a Jew so i wonder why their flesh wasnt affected.

  6. And this is exactly the attitude and kind of response that discredits input from the recreational fishing lobby. The data in the paper was frank in its admission it was an estimate. Even so, I too was surprised at the magnitude and I thought it had been vastly over-estimated, but then I ran the numbers and 100t is only 50,000 fish for the whole of NSW (assuming they average 2kg). There are probably 1000 people fishing recreationally in NSW on any Saturday and if 100 of those caught two jewies of 2 kg that's 400kg a day.

It's all about means and averages and I think 100t is probably achievable. Around the north coast eastuaries and river mouths it is common to get a dozen or more smaller sized fish a day. Around Sydney its completely different.

"And this is exactly the attitude and kind of response that discredits input from the recreational fishing lobby"

Why ? for not blindly accepting government depts figures as factual .

Do you really belive credit was or will ever be given to what an amatuer fisho has to say , they will impose licences ,fees, no fishing areas, bag an catch limits until the cows come home while ever people just accept their word and believe they are responsible for the decline in fish stock. For this reason i couldnt be bothered really debating this with much purpose but id would like to add a bit to the conversation. As for your figures yes they are getting to what is more realistic numbers but keep in mind those saturday night jewboys are not doing it on a daily basis unlike the 1000 pros you mentioned . If that 400Kg rec fisher stat was repeated for friday AND saturday for basicaly the 6 month Jew season that figure only reaches 20T , and as we all know bugger all people actualy get the chance to fish once a week let alone twice. Anyway i think the figures can be argued and swayed in anyones favour and until a more conclusive and actual data driven figure is achieved i will always stick to my own experience and observations. They have every licence holders details which could be easily used to send out a questionaire to obtain this info if they really wanted to actualy look for the truth. Sydney harbour to me seems to be picking up in Jew and noticably Kingfish numbers while The Hawkesbury is on the decline , Is that due to anything ?

The answer will be what supports my arguement .

    :) Gaz

  7. The indivual rec take may be small but cumulatively it can be quite large. There are 1 million rec anglers in NSW and only 1000 pros, so do the sums on that.

BAHAHAHA. 90 % of that million wouldnt know what a Jewfish was let alone know how to catch one, what a stupid cop out stat to throw up. Dont start me on that dumb lame argument because its TOTAL BS.

  8. On the fishers and shooters website out of 13 listed acheivements 2 are fishing related, and basicaly both are on the same issue. Its about time we also hammered them to start acting on our behalf while ever they are using the fisho's valuable vote. Why the hell they merged the 2 parties in the first place has me beat . We need a stand alone voice.

  9. Yes heaps of times, prettywell open the any type of fishing you are into.Plenty of beach to fish but a 4x4 is a plus. Rock fishing around at CrowdyHead and also wharf fishing at Crowdy inlet. River fishing in the back waters of the Manning river, lagoon fishing for plenty of whiting and as mentioned the breakwall itself for Jew and some monster flathead especialy near the cleaning tables. The wall also yeilds bream and blackfish by using a float for both just drifting clear of the rocks. My mate murders the bream this way all the time.

  10. Hi Diesel,

Yes the hawkesbury is not what it once was. It was not ever an easy place to fish but regular fisho`s could find a good feed.

Today you would drift off Patonga for a good feed of Flatties but none the next. I think you know why.

We have slaughtered the Jew fish population with so many of those huge Jewfish being kept and not released.

Bream populations no longer exist and there are good reasons why that is so.

I was listening to an old timer on the radio today who confirmed what you had experienced and he is a person who knows the Hawkes better than anyone.

Hope it gets better for you next time.

    Too many pro's ?

  11. You are not wrong. I spent 5 days on a houseboat the other week and i landed 2 undersized red bream in that whole time. I even had prawn baits out the entire night only to find them still untouched in the morning. I did the house boat trip the same time 2 years ago and the fishing was identical, so its either this time of year or its been on the declin for some time.
