This is what i think is the minimum a young man should know.

How to use hand tools like hammers, saws, chisels screw drivers, tape measures etc.

    Doing jobs like hanging a picture for the mrs,changing a flat tyre,starting a fire,digging a hole,using a broom,i could go on forever.

Not just young men should know these things, young women should too. And I know my 2 girls will.

My dad has 2 left hands and 10 thumbs, but I have learnt all these skills and more from my mum.

When I got my licence, the first thing mum did was make sure I knew how to change the tyre and check fluid/oil levels.

Thank you so much for helping this old fart out. It was well camouflaged, that's for sure. So how prolific are these things? I've never heard of them. Would they exist in the Murray Darling system? Cheers folks, bn

    Don't worry Neil, I couldn't see it either. :)

    very cool.

    Yes, Happy Father's Day all.

Some time ago I told the story in one of the forums of how thieves stole much of my tackle including a cedar spool avley reel my dad gave me when I was 14 and built my own beach rod.

It was upsetting because he rarely bought gifts and this seemed very special. The reel was worth very little to anyone else but me.

Anyway,  I retold the story a few months ago and my wife went and tracked one down on e-bay and gave it to me a present for Fathers Day.  She's a gem!

    Cheers

Hi all, just joined although been stalking these forums and others for many years.

Names Sammy, everyone calls me squirt and thats how i normally introduce myself. Been fishing for most of my life, live on lake macquarie (across the road from it) but most of my time is spent here in sydney due to work,

2 kids, 4 year old boy and 16 month year old girl, who both of them have already taken to fishing, no boat as yet but plan to get one shortly. Fish atleast twice a week whether its going for the mighty mud marlin (carp) with mates after work or going for some good eating fish up home in lake mac,

Hope to put some reports up soon, as im sydney based most of the week, im always keen to go for a night flick, whether it be chasing carp in a local pond or driving for an hour to get to the salt water.

Best pb for night fishing was a 56cm Flathead on some corn at apple tree bay, and a 40 odd cm bream at church point. normally just use light gear, 2-4kg rod and some decent braid, makes the fight more fun, and really really light gear for carp,

    Tight Lines guys and gals,

    Regards Squ!rt

    Welcome to Fishraider Squirt.

Looking forward to some reports Flathead on corn is a new one for me!

    Cheers
