    Spiral Wraps

Bashir, Give Willo a yell ( you know where to find him). He's building his own rods now & a lot of them are spiral wraps. Absolutely awsome!!! I'll be building my first spiral wrap over the next few weeks, just in time for the summer mackerel.
  2. Macka, I've got a 12 yo cousin who is mad keen on fishing. Lives at Old Bar & fishes the manning every chance he gets from a V nose punt his pop gave him. If your agreeable, the X85 if it still works instead of turfing it would suit him down to the ground for his punt as he don't have a sounder. I'll pay postage of course. Flick me an email if you are interested.

    Line For 6500b

We run anything from 10kg Mono to 15kg braid on our 6500 baitrunners. For what you are describing for an all rounder, I would think about putting 10kg - 12kg Penn 10x on it. If you a tending to fish deeper water with it, then maybe think about going to Braid. We run either Spiderwire Stealth or Power Pro Spectra.
  4. Try Oziexplorer. Can do all you want with the evaluation version.
  5. Hey Mick, Got a trifecta up while at the Bowls club on Saturday arvo & pulled a few dollars out of them wretched pokies. Made for a great afternoon.
  6. When I visit the relo's down at Oldbar neat Taree, we go down to a rock wall and get our fill. Last lot we got some of them were about the same size as those in the pic. Bloody beautifull!!!
  7. Ahhhh I love that place! Has been my childhood holiday destination since year dot. Might be getting down that way over christmas... I HOPE!
  8. You can watch it in action on the link below. http://www.gcfishing.com/anchor.htm
  9. How on earth the captain got that boat so far up the rocks is beyond me. She's a twisted rusted mess now. These pictures were taken the day after it happened.
  10. In this day and age of high quality colour photo copies & the like. There is hardly a need to purchase a licence The inspector has a quick glance at the date & hands it back. Will all change once they change over to cards though
  11. thats the furthest north I have seen it. hard up against Farquar by the looks of it. Will be down your way in the next month or so. If its closed I'll be able to have a nice run all the way from Wallaby Pt to Manning Pt!
  12. BushNBeach, now thats a great mag Also read QFM as well. The glossy mags I tend to find a bit boring. More so storys about fishing rather than informative, but thats just my opinion. Havn't heard about this DVDMag, any shed some light on that?
  13. Mick, thanks for the pics. That pic of the seat! WOW Last time I was at Oldbar that seat was way away from the beach! The developers only have themselves to blame & the councilors should be sacked over that development. I know of the guy you are talking about that cut his own track through as well. He is mad. My uncle may get his beach views back yet You know, he had a plan showing a road infront of the houses already about to fall in the drink. The road naturally never got developed due to the pace the bank was being erroded & as such the reason there was an imaginary 100 year tide line drawn where no development could take place. The tide line runs right through the middle of most of the houses that have beach front & also the units at the Meridian that have been recently constructed. Thats why all the houses that were built oin the last few years on the spare blocks in Lewis street are set back from the beach, because of that imaginary line. To reclaim the beach is going to take some serious effort by way of sand pumping jetty or similar. Can guarantee thats not going to happen. Pedro, Them houses on Currumbin Hill are in a very bad state. The whole hill is in danger of slipping. Not only affecting them few houses, but everyone below and either side. Them properties on the hill had been selling for 1.5mil - 3 mil and are now virtually worthless.
  14. I've caught several fish with hooks in their gut as well. Some with new hooks some with the hook that rusted that it almost fell apart when removed.
  15. Steps gone hey... Woohoo! My uncle will be killing himself laughing.
  16. Looks like you've had a bit of rain down that way Mick. Love the Flag. " Go the OLD BAR Pirates " BTW, the Merridian hasn't slipped into the Pacific yet has it

    Sounders

I got my Lowrance X88DF from the states. Had a problem with the transducer & it was all worked out via email with their customer service people & I had a new transducer in 5 days. All from the states. Would have taken me longer if I'd bought local I reckon, with me having to send the old transducer to them, then they test it & then send a new one back.
  18. I like the part where they show the Silstar rods n reels. Sticky drags n all
  19. You'll be hard pressed finding a charter that targets pelagics specifically on the TWeed or Goldcoast. Most of their fishing no matter what season is bottom bashing. BUT, if you do want a charter for pelagics that will knock your socks off, try Mono's Sportsfishing Adventures Phone - 02 6685 1913 Brunswick Heads Only 30mins south of the Goldcoast. Mono's Sportsfishing Charters Prime time for some massive Hoo & Blues.
  20. Are you talking about double line pulley?? It takes twice as long. Thats how I have mine setup. But it halves the workload on the winch. Takes about 3 mins to get the boat onto the trailer
  21. I have Electric winch, brand is Powerwinch. I wouldn't go back to a manual winch. Pulls the 20ft Cruise Craft no problem. No mucking around connecting up to battery atc, if you do it right. I have the plug in the rear of the car. Just open the door, pull it out & plug it in the winch. Takes no longer than having to get the winch handle out. Not all that noisey, I don't reckon. To let the boat go, simply back the clutch off & unhook. Even has synthetic rope on it, so no more mucking around with cable. Takes about 30 sec longer than a manual winch I reckon. No more huffing & puffing
  22. We've been using SP on the offshore reefs for the last 2 years now. Catch just about everything on them. Squire, Pearlies, Trevally, YTK, even XXOS slimys Makes for a bit of a change.

    Bar Crossing

Up here, we have no choice but to cross a bar. Comming from Sydney it was a BIG change. One of the most important things is learning to read the water. This will basically let you know where the deep water is, essential for safe crossings that is. All the reading in world fails in comparison to actually doing it. A good way to see how the guys do it, is to sit on an advantage point & watch em go out, watch where they run. Gotta say though them waves look a lot bigger when your in front of them :naughty:
