He watches Dad & Pop a bit too much. This footage was taken when he was around 4.5yo
  7. The mags I read now days are the ones like QFM & Bushnbeach. You guys down south would know them as NSW Fishing monthly etc. Articles written by everyday fisherman. I find I get the best value out of them sorts of mags

It's great taking the little fellas along. My young bloke is 5.5yo & this is his 3rd summer on the water. Comes with us just about every trip. We used to fish Cowan a bit when I lived in Sydney. Try the bay on the opposite side of the river to Cottage Pt Sea Rescue. Just off the point in about 9m of water if I remember rightly. Used to do well for the leatherjackets there. Easy to catch & nice to each. Plus with a bigger bait you'll have a chance for a jew. I reckon its great taking the kids along and watching their skills develop.
  9. Any of the reefs off Tweed have their fair share of jew. The current at the moment will severely limit your ability at targeting them though. Much better a winter option they are. I reckon conditions out there would have been pretty crapola. Got up at 3:00am to check & went back to bed.
  10. Thats my mate Willo & it was filmed off Palm Bach Qld. A whole 1km off shore or 4.3KM round trip from the boat ramp & back. Most of the fish were Cobia, with a few mackerel thrown in around the outskirts. He worked that school for about 40mins & only pulled tuna off it, thats when he sent his camera down. I got the full version, which goes for quiet a while & is awsome. That footage and some other mind blowing stuff will be making "Fishing The Goldcoast III" DVD
  11. 1100GPH might be a bit too big. 700GPH will be sufficient.

We also bought a rig off KROBOATS , top people they are. The fello drove all the way to St.Clair where we lived at the time to value our trade in as we only called in there while having a swim down that way. He drove away with the trade in & we got our new Quinnie a week later. Good honest establishment IMO.
  13. My first thoughts are that this is normal for Johnson pumps. IMO they are utter crap. I went through 4 in under 12 months. I have 2 for bait tanks & 1 for bilge. I've replaced them all with Rule pumps and 2.5 years later still going strong. Cut your loses mate & for safety sake, replace them crappy Johnson pumps with Rule's & you won't look back.
  14. I assume you are going for YTK ? Rubberband through the eye socket or nose bridge & attach the hook to that, would be my first choice.
  15. When we were looking for a new boat we had a list of features we definately wanted & the Cruise Craft Explorer 600 fitted the bill nicely. A lot of planning did go into the setup. Many an afternoon with a rod in each holder deciding where to put different things. Quadriple checking everything before drilling holes..LOL Took an hour for us to drill the hole through the transom for the second pump pickup!
  16. The LED strips are water proof. I got a 70cm one & they work great. ( Pic of the bait board was taken befoe I got the LED strip) I'm thinking about mounting some lights flush in the bait board that face outwards. So when fishing of a night, the rods are illuminated so you can see whats going on
  17. This pic shows the rod holders - Now you see them, now you don't. This pic shows the dual pickups. I put the rod holders as far back as possible. With one approx 45deg offset. Gets all the rods down the back of the boat & allows more room for things such as spinning. Also put Scotty rod holder brackets down each side as well. I use both the powerlocks & strikers. Pic of the bait board. It has a sink underneath where you can either keep bait or other bits n pieces. One thing I did do, is put a LED light strip along it. During the dark, it throws plenty oflight & cancels out your shadow from falling on the board, stopping you from seeing what you are doing. Pic of her side on
  18. I've got your boats big brother, the Cruise Craft Explorer 600, which is pretty well setup for fishing. In relation to the two live wells. I've plumbed them both. One with the inlet up the top & the other with the inlet down the bottom. I use the one with the inlet down the bottom for livies such as pike & slimys as these fish require moving water and also it ensures oxygenated water all through the tank. The other tank is used for yakkas as they will survive just about anything. so it don't matter really if the water comes in the top & out the over flow. The pic shows my pump setup. Also where I have put rod holders for travelling to and from the ramp. My boat has a big kill tank already. How big? Big enough to fit Spaniards over 60lb in and room for more. Only a 30lber in there in this pic.

    Hook Snelling

2 ways to do it. First is with a seperate bit of line around the top hook. Second, is to simply wrap the line around the top hook a few times to keep it in place. It will move however under some pressure.
  20. Thanks Watto, Noticed you live in good ol' St.Clair. I grew up there, used to live in SummerHill Place.
  21. Received a surprise package in the mail yesterday. The Viva CF3500, from the catch of the month comp for Sept. Will come in handy for chasing jacks in the local creeks. Thanks to all that voted, FR & Modern Fishing
  22. Given the fish you are targeting, I would go the TLD20 or TLD25. Your arms will love you by the end of the day & you got the capasity there to handle anything big that should come along.

    Cobia

Was only a 3kg pearlie on the end of that rod Seriously though, if you want to target them, then you must go to where they frequent for a start. No good hoping for a bycatch in say Sydney HArbour or the Hawkesbury. Big live baits about 10m up off the bottom will see you connected to one, if they are in the area.

    Cobia

We have them in plague proportions up here at the moment. Mostly around the 20 - 30lb mark this time of year. In winter the big snodgers come along. Fight like dogs they do.
  25. The difference between the spool winding evenly or not, is a matter of mm. On this picture of a TSS4 you can see the spacer. Infact it has 2 on there to get the line to wind on even. Most TSS4's & baitrunners suffer from this problem at some point. Its nothing to really worry about & it easily fixed. I also got some washers from an auto shop. The type that are used on sump plugs only smaller. They work a treat & have got them on my older baitrunners. You could always just buy a new spacer washer too, but with the way them reels scream when something big takes off, I wouldn't be surprised is a few thou gets shaved off the bottom of the spool over time, compounding the problem.
