  1. Ah, seems it may be crap afterall. No wonder there are tonnes on ebay!!!!!!!
  2. How can 550min of fishing be worth less than $6.92??? It can't be that bad surely (although it does feature Gus Mecurio I suppose!!)
  3. I don't understand any shop doing this - they will stock something that gives them higher markup which ends up not selling, rather than easily being able to sell the popular item at a lower markup and actually make a living AND give the customer what they want......
  4. Daniel, thats the point I'm trying to make - my tackle store never has the stock you want when you 'drop in to replace the lure you lost'.....so theres no advantage over ebay....
  5. If my local tackle store actually had the most popular products in stock when I wander in a couple of days before a fishing trip, he'd have my business. However, in the millions of lures, line etc he has along the walls, walking in and getting an SX40 lure or a common line in the weight you want is impossible. I don't mind if he is a couple of dollars more as long as he has the product and offers good service. But he is 'expensive' (compared to other tackle stores) and the only thing I've let him order in for me about 3mths ago (a fishing map that I can get from a tackle store 3 suburbs away 30% cheaper) I'm still waiting for.....not even a call to say its delayed. Theres no excuse for having thousands of lures EXCEPT the popular ones - once out of stock is ok, but you make sure next time you order sufficient stock of a popular product. If they pull their finger out and get fair dinkum, I might start buying from them again, but if they continue to have the wrong stock and bad service, I'll continue to use ebay.......
  6. Has anyone made their own version of 'gulps'? I suppose it would be possible....
  7. If the poor bugger was celebrating the end of ramadan you would think he would be so hungry he would of just swallowed it whole.
  8. Mate, bad luck. If it was an opportunistic thief, they will have no idea about the BIOS password, so I would be contacting a few of the local PC shops and letting them know about it in case someone brings a thinkpad in saying they forgot the password. Good luck with it mate. Martin
  9. Is that maple rod from a fishing shop thats a guys name starting with F by any chance? Cause I saw some too and wondered what they were like......
  10. Try Port Stephens, much nicer place.
  11. Yep, Ive got some yummy dinner sized flatties off the 8cm pogys too - the anchovy colour.
  12. Thanks Dave. I was thinking thats the one to use - I have a funny feeling at low tide some time ago I have seen a lot of sand around the other one. Martin
  13. Hey all, Theres no mention of these ramps in the boat ramp section here - was wondering if it was possible to launch a small (4.3m) boat at dead low tide at the ramps at either Hawkesbury Esplanade or Holt Pt Rd - or is there too much sand below the ramp? The reason being I want to fish Towra Point for some flatties...... Ta Abitfishy (Martin)
  14. I thought all trailers these days had to have a plate saying they abide by the Australian Standard etc etc, also stating its TARE, GVM etc, get it weighed then get the trailer stamped with a VIN, THEN go to the RTA to get registered. Maybe the plate etc is only for commercially manufactured trailers and not home mades..... In your post you mention you have a pink slip already (which I thought would indicate its already got plates, vin number, been weighed etc...). Could you eleborate a bit? Back when I registered a home made unregistered box trailer, I had to get it weighed, a VIN assigned, then take the form I got from the inspection station to the RTA who then registered it and assigned me rego plates.
  15. The misses & are are going on our first kayak 'adventure' weather permitting (think its going to be OK!). We are going to hire a couple of Yaks from the Woronora boatshed and head upstream towards 'The Needles'. Not sure whether I'll bother taking the fishing gear this time, since its my first time on a yak, but I have a 3ft canoe rod, and some SP's, so I guess it wouldn't hurt. Might just concentrate on yakking, staying upright and not drowning, and see about fishing next time! From pics I've seen its a magical spot and can't wait. Only problem is if I love it, I'll absolutely want to buy a yak and deck it out for fishing - can imagine what the would say then. (I can just hear it - Ah, you don't use your boat often enough and now you want to buy a Kayak?)
  16. Hey all, Does anyone own an Australis SQUID model sit on top kayak and use it to fish? I've been looking around a bit quite keen on giving it a try and this model seems to suit. In particular I like the way it points out the foot rests are set lower than the seat in order to minimise cramping on long stretches - since I get bad cramps easily so it was a worry - great that this is designed with that in mind. Also wondering if anyone has one of these models, if you can put your legs straight out on them - the pics I have seen on the companies web site all show people with slightly bent knees - which would definately give me cramps....
  17. Freaks, all of you! 30min preparation, 30min clean up to flush motor, pack away and chuck the rods in the garage, but then again, its a small boat with minimal gear.
  18. The DVD is great, theres one for sale in the FOR SALE section at the moment if anyone is keen.....
  19. I'd want reassurance the motor was OK.....
  20. Just keep in mind one thing - once you leave Sydney with its high prices and settle somewhere cheaper to live, its extremely difficult to get back into Sydney if you change your mind. I'd consider renting for 6mths (while you rent out your Sydney house) before you make it permanent....just a thought.
  21. Hey guys, Popped down to the Georges River to check out how clean/dirty the water is (its a tad dirty, not as bad as I thought), and thought I'd warn you local boaties to be careful of plastic bags - just standing there for a minute I saw 3 plastic bags float past (along with a variety of containers and cardboard pieces), so keep an eye on your tell tale.
  22. There are hire boats at the marina where the dolphin watching tours etc leave from, as well as D'alboras marina. Take your pick. However when I was up there without a boat, the ones from the dolphin watch marina were older but bigger and more comfortable which may be a factor if you are lacking in experience on a boat.

    Bloody Hell

Mate, a few things, do the rounds of the neighbours and see if anyone saw/heard anything (car speeding off, or a smash noise (even small collisions make a hell of a noise at times). And one thing you MUST do, is on the same time of day tomorrow AND next wednesday (ie, in case the same person drives that route daily or each week), sit out the front half a street length away and see if a car with damage on that side drives past. Get the rego and get the coppas to investigate. The least they will do is see if paint scrapes on their car matches your colour. The only problem is the time frame it was left there and found damaged - if it was hours and hours, it might be hard. Give it a go, I've heard it can work. Just think, how many times do you drive somewhere thats fairly regular, espcially in a residential area (which I assume this is) - its usually to or from home isn't it? Hope you get the mongrels.
  24. Hey guys - motyman, that cabin is great, shame I don't have the boat yet to see if its even likely to fit. offtapp1 - you are right, this might be a problem, I'm probably better (and would probably be quite happy with), a heavier duty fabricated piece for mounting of steering/gauges etc and a decent screen. I can always add canopy/bimini at a later date if I want a bit more protection. What we'd like and what we can afford is often quite different......
  25. Mine was already named when I got it - WHALE RIDER. Which makes us feel really self conscious with us 2 fattys sitting up front in it
