  1. Oh yeah, surprised some RSPCA nut hasn't had it banned! Although I hate to say, this nut agrees it does seem a little cruel - fish have feelings too!
  2. These government departments need to get fair dunkum. National Parks is the same, never reply to emails.
  3. Getting them a coupla females from Port Stephens, males from Lismore, and gunna get them to 'make luuuuuuuv'. Hopefully next season I'll get a few hatchies. Martin
  4. Hey all, Wondering if anyone in the next week or so (or even before Christmas), is travelling from Port Stephens, or Lismore to Sydney? I have some very small hitchhikers I need to get down here from each place. (Geckos, will be well contained and won't be a problem). A shipping company is out of the question - they want to charge $64.50 from Lismore for a chinese container sized box! Problem is I need to track down someone coming from each place (not neccesarily the same person of course), as I don't need one without the other.... (ie, 1 pair in Lismore, 1 pair in Port Stephens) Thanks Martin
  5. I had a funny feeling it was lure or fly only there??? Am I wrong?
  6. Haha, I know what you mean. Its strange how big even those tiny common garden skinks can sound when they rustle through leaves!!
  7. At dawn and dusk, be careful of snakes too mate, red bellies in particular. Don't want to scare you, but better you be aware dawn and dusk at freshwater is a perfect time for them to be out.
  8. God, wouldn't you be peed off if you launched, and started up to realise nothing was happening. I mean, I know I don't check the prop is there before I launch (helps the boats in the garage though), but how many people do??? I'm worried enough that I remembered the bungs!!
  9. I think it all depends on species, type of SP, type of bait, location, technique etc. For instance, if I chucked out a bit of bait and sat it on the bottom, in an area known to catch flatties, yet I also flicked some pumpkinseed minnows around, I pretty much know the plastics are going to win.
  10. Mate with so many local kayak and canoe makers (and blokes doing them in their backyard as well), it could be from anywhere. You can even get plans off the net to make them, so I don't like your chances at finding exactly who made it, even a 'similar' canoe would be different makers because all canoes are 'similar' LOL. Make something up thats impressive........ Actually, tell them its a limited edition 'Fishraider' Canoe!
  11. Lucky bugger, I'm in luck if I wake up an hour AFTER my alarm. I'm thinking of doing a Tim the Toolman and hooking the alarm up to a 110db piezo buzzer. Thanks for the report
  12. Those teeth look a tad nasty - what is it?
  13. I used to have access to a gold plating machine. Now THAT would be something different.
  14. SHHH....actually I haven't shown my yak on that forum, theres a 3rd I visit that I got the Pflueger....but Fishraider is the best of course. Theres a pic here on the Members Boats post under boating too.....
  15. While everyone is comparing their sic sticks (could say something else there but won't) I also got one recently off user monk here on the forums, a 7ft 2-4 sic stick pro for $85 (looks brand new) and love it! Bloody bargain I reckon. Adding a Plfueger Criterion reel off 'another' forum for $50 and it makes a nice cheap half decent combo.
  16. Thats interesting, I've heard of BCF, mainly from a QLD'er, but never knew it was a Super Cheap Auto of boats. It does sound like one of those stores that you can send the misses to the clothes shop and you are still roaming the aisles when she comes looking for you.....
  17. Mate, although only 4" diag screen, I have entry level Lowrances on my kayak (x47) and runabout (X50ds) and they are fantastic for the purpose.
  18. mmmm.....I dunno, its bad enough them selling elcheapo stuff that doesn't work for a car - but I'd be careful buying super cheap stuff for a boat...... Not to mention the number of safety recalls products they sell have. But for some things it might be good.
  19. Would someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I read somewhere due to the pollution in the Parra that keeping your catch at H&C was not a great idea.....
  20. Hey mate, Good one! LOL. I agree, its amazing the number of deadheads fishing/boating seems to attract into the industry..... Of course, Fishraiders are all intelligent, friendly blokes who are highly educated and the best in their chosen fields.....
  21. Hey guys, Thanks for your replies. Seems like the way to go. I agree with the comment about the cuddy cabin - I saw a half cabin which doesn't give tonnes of room room. Evil, mate, as much as I'd kill for a ciggie, I really don't want to go back to a pack a day. I ended up in hospital with a collapsed lung which is why I quit in the first place......it sorta hits home and is like 'what the hell am I doing this for?' Ta abitfishy
  22. Mate, sounds like the best part of the deal you got was the $1.50 for postage.
  23. Hey guys, I've got a old dehavilland 4.3 open boat forward steer that isn't a bad boat at all for the rivers, or out to Towra point on a nice day no wind etc, but I'd like something a little more comfortable, but around the 10k mark prefer no more.....since I've quit smoking (3mths now) this might be my reward. I've seen around the internet the Savage Osprey range 4.8/5.0/5.2, either runabout, cuddy or half cabin, up to early 90's or so I might be able to get for the price. What are these boats like? I think I heard they were a step down from the Lancers which themselves are supposed to be great boats (and I've been on a 530 lancer which was a very capable boat). Or any alternative to the Ospreys that is similar? Must be aluminium. Would generally only ever be used for same - Wonnie, Port Hacking, Hawkesbury, Botany Bay on nice days. Anyone here actually own one? I know there are current style Ospreys but they are out of my league for the $$$$$.
