  4. Hi everyone, My brother and i started fishing the bream and bass event this year with a few good results, someone recommended to us that we get a catchy team name and start a facebook page to try and gain some exposure and to show people how we do it etc. Anyway to cut a long story short we cant really think of a great name so have decided to take on any ideas from the good people on this site. Really its just a bit of fun so get creative we want to hear anything you have. Next event berkley super series-lake macquarie 22nd-23rd july so would ideally like to debut the name then.
  5. Awesome info guys, taking it all on board and might have a crack as a non boater as well as fishing other events from our own boat. Now just to put it all into practice.
  6. Cheers rick, we didn't get to fish them but had a look along there while getting a feed and looked like a great spot, the current was ripping hard through there though, But that's great info and will include that in the plan.
  7. we found a stack of gulp crabbys in a 5 dollar bin at bcf before the trip and loaded up on the bob, great little sp! Cheers Dave, any specific colours you like in those lures that you recommend? We will definitely vary our approach we found plenty of good spots when we were up there but then found what we thought might be hidden gems like structure down deep and a few fallen trees on the bottom so have them as well as we figure the oyster leases are going to cop a hammering!
  8. No macman, we haven't this is our first real go at anything to do with the tournament fishing scene.
  9. Hi Everyone, Myself and my brother finally bought a tournament fishing boat, just a 2010 Quintrex Hornet Trophy 500, not as fancy as some but was able to get a good deal and its a good start for our first tournament boat. We will be fishing our first Event at Forster in the Berkley Super Series then having a crack at some other bream events throughout the rest of the year. My main reason for making this post was to just ask a few questions: Does anyone have any experience fishing tournaments and what advise/tips would you give us, Tips on bream fishing Forster? We went up a month ago for a look at the area and practice where we did OK with the first morning in 5 hours getting a bag of 5 bream to approx 2.8kgs, then that afternoon we set ourselves another 5 hours and had a bag of approx 3.5kgs. The next day we only managed 2 legal bream in the morning 6 hours, not sure why but they had gone off the bite. But we only fished the lower areas of the lake, oyster leases and weed flats, we never made it up to wallis lake so still have no idea what is up there! We need a team name, as we have no sponsors or anything like that, we were thinking maybe we could go under the name Team Fishradier and represent the website? I'm unsure if someone already does this but i thought i would ask before we did anything. Finally we are trying to build up our lure collection, so i was hoping to compile a bit of a list of peoples favorite bream lures so we can get our selection up, we mainly use soft plastic as we can rig them weedless when fishing for bream. So all in all that is about it at the moment until the 27th-28th of may when we hit Forster, i will post our results and photos of how we go for anyone that is interested, and just remember we are always happy to help fisho's out! We are by no means experts, but we have had some success with the bream so people who are just starting out or want to know anything please do not hesitate to ask us anything, as we are always happy to help. Below is the boat we will be using.
  10. Parsley bay boat ramp isn't to far from there? I always use that ramp and apart from a couple of cowboys i have never really had a problem. Although i have had to give my fair share of uppings out to wankers who moor up at the loading pontoons, nothing frustrates me more!
  11. thanks JA1990 will looking into that
  12. Does anyone Fish bream and bass tournaments here? Looking to have a crack next year just wanted to see what people think about them? Surely fishraider would have a team?????
  13. G'day everyone, Currently looking at what would be my best option for a tournament fishing boat? My brother and i are looking to have a crack at a few Bream and Bass Tournaments come next year, problem being we currently own a 5.25 savage escort which isn't a great boat for trying to fish some bream and bass country. So Basically looking if anyone has any tournament boats and can help give us some direction in where we should start to look, our budget is up to 25k Any advice will be much appreciated.
  14. Great spot Lake Cathie, i have a nice little holiday house up there and frequent it a few times a year. Excellent system but some times i find it takes me a while of searching to find the fish depending on the status of the lake. Hit me up if you go back there and ill let you know some of the spots i find productive. Ill be up there in feb for a few weeks and cant wait!
  15. The Blue Swimmers are on at the moment 2 weeks ago we dumped 4 pots at spot x went for a flick came back 6 hours later, one pot had 10 blue swimmers in it!! Ended up with 22 across the 4 pots, we put the smaller models back and took 8 home for a feed.

    Pittwater

That should work. sometimes we anchor in the boat moorings, start the burly and watch the kings come up the trail, good thing is plenty of other species like to come check the burly out as well so you can get a good mixed bag feed!
  17. Just a thought, with the warragamba dam spilling over last week, do you think we will get a run of trout in the nepean river again like a couple of years ago?
  18. ive caught and seen people catch lobsters in the hawkesbury/broken bay area, i'd love to tell you where to go but id probably have to kill you after that, hahahaha drop me a pm tho and i can point you in the right direction.
  19. Guilty, I was about half way between the front of the lake and the Perch hole. Such a lovely area
  20. The jewel or otolith is ear bone of the jewfish, I'm lead to believe it gives the fish it's balance, and if they didn't have them they couldn't swin, They are found in the top of the vertebrae if you can crack it open.
  21. Hi everyone, Went up to play some golf round the mid north coast area on the 27/4/15 and was meant to play for 8 day, and was going to try and sneak some fishing in, well after all the rain we had i only manages 3 rounds of golf, the rest being cancelled and some good fishing in between storms. I started by taking the yak up the lake, it was on fire with flatties and whiting, flatties on sp's and whiting on yabbies not much size to them for the most part but still fun catching them and letting them go. One night down at the bridge in lake cathie for any of you who know it, i was flicking a 2.5 inch berkly prawn around in a dark green colour and got a couple of nice flatties going 63 and 45 for the table. After the rain the water colour was a nice brown over at the laurieton break wall and with a solid swell still rolling it i thought i would have a crack at a few jewies around the wash and on the turn of the tide when the 2 water colors meet. After a slow start with nothing the first afternoon on bait, i went and brought a nice big hard body (perpetrator 160) and some berkly nemesis sp's in blue pepper at 6.5inch with the big tail. I threw the perpetrator 160 around finally hooking up to a schoolie about 60 cms which i quickly released, swapped over to the sp and after about 10 casts on a slow retrieve hooked up and landed my 1st jewie going just on 80cm struggled to get it up the break wall as i only had a little net so after getting a bit wet i had her in the net and up the wall, as i had a bit of a crowd i got one nice guy to snap a photo for me with this being my first jewie on plastics something ive wanted to get for a long time. So after a few photos i was back to my ledge, a while went by then i got smashed out of know where bringing up a nice 77cm model, i couldn't get the smile off my face, its such a rush getting that hook up and 1st run on the sp especially as i only had 20 pound braid and 30 pound leader on. By this stage no one else on the break wall had had a hook up so my spot was getting a little crowded, so i called it and went to clean the fish. I was able to find the jewfish's "jewels" as well which was pretty cool, so its a good way to start off my collection. The next morning was my last day there so headed back to the wall to try for a few more and to my surprise i hooked up again but was shocked to see a decent bream on the end 6.5 inch soft plastic that was all for the morning session as i went back to where i was staying for a morning jewfish feed and started to back for the drive home. so all in all it was a pretty good trip, a shame the golf was cancelled but i got a pb bream on sp's and my first jewie on plastics and hard bodies so needless to say im pretty happy. Here are a few photos of the highlights
  22. This might be a stupid question. But are you using fresh/live bait? My brother and i fish the hawkesbury every 2nd week, targeting jewies, and we usually have pretty good luck. send me a pm if you have any more in depth questions as im happy to help,
  23. Yea I hope so to, is the lake itself full at the moment I thought with a big swell and the rain it might be enough to open naturaly
  24. valient usually holds slimies on sun up but the dont hang round for long ive found
