  1. snaps are great for bream & trout fishing. I wouldnt use them targetting large mulloway and other species, but for smalelr species, they are a great way of being able to change quickl;y between HBs... However, do not just go out and grab a pack of snap swivels.... this would be shit... Go for a snap actually marketted as 'lure clips/snaps'... i only use the owner & decoy snaps, and only in the 0 size.... there great.
  2. dreamfly - sounds like the main issue (other than it being a cheap multi piece rod) was that you tried to snap off 50lb braid using a 15kg stick...?? what did you expect to happen?>
  3. does anyone know if other plastics are able to be brought in from overseas? non-gulp........?
  4. all it does is porve the point that ya dont need to impart any action on gulp to catch fish... just whack it on a hook and soak it as a bait.....
  5. OWNERS!!!! by the way, i dont do it... but would be quite safe to spray your entire tackel box with inox. wont affect fishing them at all.
  6. great work mate what kidn of popper is that? almost looks like a tiny version of a halco roosta popper
  7. very easy to do. braid to a small clear plastic float (for casting weight), then leader tied to the fly.... this way you can fish dry flys easily, and wet flys to certain depths, dependant on your leader.... you can also add water to the float to give extra casting weight
  8. i cant see the pic, but from what watto asid its a baby vib 35 ?? if so, they are a gun bream lure, retrieve it like a plastic
  9. have you tried international ebay? i would swear i have seen them in japanese ebay stores....
  10. Cheers Stewy. Which brand are those? I have a coupld of the same type, made by AusSpin i think.... havent used them yet though, goodto here they are a goer, ill be sureto tie one on Sunday morning when i go. I had a quick scan through the lrue fishign reports as well, looks liek youve had a bit of luck on surface lrues as well... which kind do you find works? Thanks, macca
  11. Ive caught a few breamskis on them, never had an issue with rust, although i do look after my lures pretty well with cleaning and storage etc
  12. Gday Raiders, I have recently joined a freshwater anglers club here in SA (SAFWAA) and cant wait to get out there to chase some Aussie Bass... The dams they stock contain a fair few diff species; callop, cod, bass, rainbow & brown trout, atlantic salmon, catties and silver perch (as well as a few reddies and carp that have found there way in), and although i am familiar with cod callop and trout fishing techniques and lures, i have never hada shot at bass before.... I would be using my bream/creek flickstick; a 6ft 1-4kg strudwick sicstik pro and stradic 1000FH combo with 4lb smoke fireline..... hopefully i wont be undergunned, im not sure how big they get in SA though... My lure collection is quite extensive and contain all sorts including; -bucketloads of SX40s -jackall chubbies -jackall cherry 48Ds -jackall flat fry -jakall nitro jnrs (tailspinner lure) -megabass 3/7oz spinnerbaits -SX48s -variety of poppers (jackalls, ecogear, strike pro) -smiths camions, jades, towadis lots of plastics as well.... these are my normal bream and trout lures,,, will any of these be suitable for the bass? and if so in which circumstances? any other suggestions? and im also after a bit of an idea of techniques u guys use......... i know im asking a lot, but hopefully one of you has a spare moment to fire off some info thanks guys, and hopefully ill be putting up a pic of my first bass soon cheers, Macca
  13. this is a link to the best ebay store i have ever found for Jackall lures.... ive bought quite a few of them, and although i have not seen the particular colours you are after, they do regularly cycle through a few differant ones.... http://stores.ebay.com.au/sayaka603-Japan-...3QQftidZ2QQtZkm hope that is helpful... if the url does not work just go to ebay stores and search "sayaka603" cheers, Macca
  14. not a problem. just remember, fish them really slow past structure and along the shallows of banks. id also reccomend carrying a tackleback since youll be using soem expensive lures and throwing them right into structure... the tackleback may stop the tears... happy fishing
  15. 22.95 ?????? ive never paid more than $17!!!!!! thats here in SA though.... worth the money though IMO, they will catch bream, trout, redfin, mullet, salmon, schoolies, etc etc etc...... even when the fish seem to have shut down. great lures. now its hard to say which colour is gonna work... as they all are suited to differant days and differant conditions.... that why i have them all. well almost all, lost one last night... but if i had to have four to cover as many situations as possible they would be as follows; 301 for any murky water on bright days 307 for trout and bream, clear water on bright days 339 murky water, bright or dull days, and nightime 341 all waters, nightime or overcast days anyway just a rough idea.... hipe that helps mate. all these lures have caught me decent fish (as has the entire ecogear range not just SX40s) cheers, Macca
  16. YES..... if i was you i would be using a 4lb flourocarbon leader of around 1-1.5m length....
