  1. One of the eye lids in the rod I had been using for my Daiwa Tierra 3500 recently broke, it has only been used a couple of times, so the fact that it broke, makes me think that it is cheap and not worth fixing. Anyway, that being said I want to know what rod I could match my reel with. The official Daiwa website suggests I match it with a Team Daiwa Tierra rod, but are these still being sold? Can anyone suggest anything that would be a good match, including how long it is and how much I should expect to pay. Thanks.
  2. Hi could you tell be where these freshwater sections of the parramatta river are that hold carp. I also agree, it might be more FUN to catch a decent size carp then a small bream. Nevertheless, as a kid I liked catching anything.
  3. This sounds promising. Can anyone give me a specific location at these areas? Maybe where I should park the car, so I can walk to the spot?
  4. Hi Marky, yeh if you can find out from you mate at work, I'm willing to give it a shot. As for Lake Gilla, I've heard that place is good, but is it no fishing at all, or just in that particular area you are talking about? Anyone know anything about Lake Woodcroft?
  5. Hi. A while ago I posted a thread on carp and where they could be found, well I am still searching. For a "pest" species they are certainly hard to find. I am wondering if anyone knows of any ponds or lakes that are infested with carp and are able to be fished. I know Centenial Park is full of them, but unfortunately the park is more concerned with making money (charging companies $750+ for corporate fishing events) than dealing with an environmental issue. Killing one carp (if you are that wag inclined) can eliminate a potential hundred. Anyway, I digress, regarding place to fish carp. I had a crack at Chipping Norton Lake the other day, it was a nice spot, didn't run into any carp, caught an eel though...So anyone have any ideas?
  6. Firstly, i'd like to be on the record as acknowledging the fact that this is a weird question/proposal, but it just goes to show you can learn about everything. If anyone can show me a couple of pics how how their tackboxes are sorted, i would appreciate it. (I know nothing re fishing) Thanks.
  7. I just bought myself a 950ssm spinfisher and I want to fit it on an old Daiwa rod. When trying to fit it the back of the reel foot slips nicely into the back bracket but the front of the reel foot seems too big to fit in the front bracket, I was able to bend the front bracket up a touch and managed to get it in, and it is sitting nice and firm in there. That being said it is only a few mil in there and I am paranoid it is going to come out. I don't really want to grind/file the reel foot down. What are my options? Thanks Ps: I am new to all this so I may have to take the rod/reel to a shop (western Sydney) to get it looked at, or to have any advices carried out.
  8. Hi. I have been into fishing for a long time and am trying to slowly add tackle to my collection, that being said I am very inexperienced, and as such have never caught anything decent. I've only really ever caught small Bream. I've tried fishing off the beach a few times the best I did was catch a stingray, although my friend once caught a decent size bream. Anyway, I know people don't like to give away their spots but can someone tell me any places in Sydney where I might have some better luck. I am not after anything in particular (I gave done a lot of reading on the forums already, so I have got some ideas).
  9. Hi thanks for the replies. I have another follow up question (I am new to fishing so know very little), how do I know what reel to get, as in what size. I like fishing off the each so would like a reel for that, but one that can be used from the rocks if need be. I have come across this family (orra sx) which are supposed to be well suited, but what size. I suppose the larger the more "high strength" line it can hold, but the heavier it will be?
  10. G'day I have recently come across this reel and was wondering of anyone knows anything about it. It seems to look good. http://www.abugarcia.com/products/reels/spinning-reels/orra/orra-sx
  11. Yeh, I remember as a kid going to Centenial Park and feeding the ducks, i remember the size of the fish i used to see in the water (Carp) they were HUGE. But ive also been under the impression you cant fish it... As for eating Carp, im not sure how good an idea it is. Even if it is clean, i have also heard that it has a muddy taste, but it might be a treat for my dog?
  12. Hi some of you may know I am quite new to the forums and new to fishing, could someone tell me a decent place along the Nepean River of where I might have some luck. Maybe indicate the road that it is off? I don't have a boat, so it would have to be off land.
  13. Thanks for all the information. After reading fishbois post I'd say that my rod is capable of catching carp, almost sounds like it is suited for carp. After reading this and other posts some ideas might be: Parramatta (Behind the RSL as advised) Cabramatta Creek Toongabbie Creek Lake Garriwarna Can anyone think of any parks around Fairfield, Smithfield, etc areas with Carp-filled lakes? Thanks.
  14. Hi there, i am new to these forums, so apologies if this is not the right section to post in. I have done some reading on this forum and was reading various threads on where to find Carp in Sydney. I have heard that Chipping Norton has some lakes that might have a bit of Carp in them, and that Cabramatta Creek has/had some (the person who suggested Cabramatta Creek, said they checked it five years ago, so things may have changed since). So anyway, my question is, does anyone know of any areas in the South-West of Sydney that I may be able to fish for some Carp? I have heard that Carp are a decent fish to catch, they will put up a bit of a fight, which is all I am looking for, and that they are plentiful, so it shouldn't be too hard to find some? Although I have been fishing since I was a kid, I consider myself "new" and a "beginner", so any help is appreciated. Thanks.
