Well done Ian, you always put in a solid effort and great report. Pity about the hairy ... but that's fishing.

Reminds me a bit of when you threw away the gemfish at the boat 🤭🤭🤭

Zoran,
Could not leave your boat just sitting there doing nothing, engine not running, spiders building webs inside, so I took it for a run.
Trolls well at a slow speed, so I let out a line and hooked a couple of big bonnies. Unfortunately one of them was deep hooked so it bled quite a bit inside the boat as it was thrashing around on the floor. I managed to get most of the blood stains off, just a few left behind so now it looks like a real fishing boat.
Dave.
Oh Dave ... you really must be missing me ... you risked a grand theft charge just to keep the motor ticking over ... you are such a champion mate !!!
BTW, hope you cut my lawn while there ?
PS - Don't worry about the fishy blood ... I have a scrubber with your name on it ... I'll supervise you detailing devOcean after your next outing.

Thanks Zoran!
Was good to get a feed this week.
Ive been trolling out wide lately, together with a mate who also has a ski. Only one hook up (my mate) while we were trolling 50m apart. But fish spat the lure. Lure came back with a whack mark too.
You taken Devocean out lately?I really tried to take devOcean ... but could not figure out how to get over the 3554kg of excess baggage .... also the water here is a bit stiff to launch and retrieve ...
... but soon it will be time to take devOcean for a swim ... I'm getting desperate for a fishy feed !!!!!

Have you tried using frozen peas for bait ???
Hmmm not so far 🤔… but I have used them to sooth the joints used to keep the lines straight 😆

Looks like whover owns the lines in the top right of your first pic is doing ok...looks like a triple or even possibly a quad hook up.
Yup. They have strange trolling setup here for sure. Still haven’t figured if it’s Yam or Merc powered tho 🫣. I’ll report back if I find out.

You might think you are on the top of the world in the photos, however, the top of the world is here in Syd-ney. Fresh fish to be caught here, not the frozen stuff around you.
Hiding in plain sight - if you know where to look! Not everything is frozen… quite a bit of SP here !!! Which might make somebody irate for sure 😂
SP- soft powder !

Thanks BN. I hop to be posting soon too. I wish there was a way to download and catch up on all the reports offline - I’ve got 20+hours of travel on the way back. Take care.

Canada?
Thanks @Burger … snow?!?! All I see is stiff water… still trying to understand all the local species and their habits… seems after hours of dashing around stiff water they all converge on local watering holes - I don’t remember much after that 🤔
But yes BC, Canada.

Please give us a travelogue when you returnThanks Donna… I fear everyone would be bored 🥱… unless they are stiff water addicted?
Cheers everyone!

Hey Raiders,
Been a while since I have posted in the fishing forums. Basically I've been trying to figure out how to land something worth reporting on in all this stiff water ... any advice?
Anyway ... so far I've managed to keep all my lines tight and to avoid major snags ... still hoping to land a big one tho!
Be back soon ... please leave some Mahi Mahi for me !
Cheers

Nice stack of reds there. Well done. Any weights added to your rigs or just free floating?

Well don’t be guys. Fresh water fish do look more odd than their salty cousins for sure.

Excellent report and adventure Dave and Amy. Thanks for sharing.
I first came to know of SHs when I lived in Singapore. Extremely aggressive fish. The locals we’re targeting them in an abandoned quarry that had filled with water and become a huge lake - some we’re even using juvenile turtles as bait 😱 as apparently the larger SHs were quite fond of them.
Not sure I could ever go to that but lure fishing for them sounds great.
Nevertheless I hope nobody introduces them here.

3 onboard. Whole day of fresh air and entertainment on the salty water. 60l fuel. 2.7kg of flattie fillets. I’m going fishing again and again and again….
Yes I ignored the investment in the boat …. But that will give years of enjoyment and at the end if I look after it will have a residual value.
Fishing is a lifestyle choice. Enjoy.

I’m n addition to above also check the simple stuff- ie that you have not accidentally left the unit manually set at a depth or zoomed into a depth range.
If it’s in Auto depth and you’ve lost bottom then lower frequency will give you better depth reading for sure.

Well done buddy. Shows you still got it .... (must have been the other two the other day that let the team down !!!)

So Zoran, is that why your fishing prowess has dropped off in recent times?
You want me to show you how to catch a few? 😂
Dear Dave, you’re either worried about me or you miss me. Either way I’ll pencil you down as crew for the next outing. BUT I’m not sure you should be throwing stones mate, if you recall your last outing with me, the video evidence showed “someone was using lots of colourful language coz the fish wouldn’t stay on someone’s hooks ” … just saying !

hi there raiders , i just spoted this post on MSN (the gardian ) they are talking about ocean eddies and how , as we head into summer, the giant eddy is unlikely to go anywhere. If it moves towards the coast, where marine life is concentrated, we will see water temperatures spike – and possibly, underwater disaster for many species. anyone know more about them the last one we had was in 2021 , thought this may interest some of you ,
2021 lockdown(s) not much fishing for me 🫣😳😔
cheers Zoran
