  1. Juggs will keep ya posted we are planning to go from botany in the next few weeks as boat is moving southside to coogee
  2. I think a good structure should be splitting the DIY section into 4 categories Boat (definitely the biggest - as most DIY opportunities) Shore Rock All And then maybe into ideas/how to's e.g. Boat - Safety Boat - Fishing Boat - Maintenance Boat - Trailer Boat - Electrics Shore - Live Bait Shore - Beer Chairs / Fishing Seats Rock - Safety Rock - Gaffs and Fish Retrieval devices Rock - The Ultimate Kiddies pool/Live Bait Tank! / What aerators last? Rock - Lighting All All - Home made lures All - The worlds best Burle ... Just a thought mrsswordfisherman
  3. Report - on the water by 550 - with lunds, pillies, burley + fresh squid + fresh occy. Struggled to get liveys at balmoral - but picked up 12 yakkas over an hour + 1/2 Got out the heads - Piker caught a big leathery a good 35-40 cm (this thing had teeth!) - got a few various sized pickers + one big ray - all let goes bar the leathery Our livies got smashed (7-8) but no big takers - pretty bad weather after 1pm - so headed in at 2pm - solid days fishing. Nothing on troll - my mates squid though on Friday (31.5 - was epic a good 1kg - and about 45cms)
  4. eyes bigger than his stomach - little big man syndrome! - sent him out for strip bait - but was tempted for sashimi - but no soy/wasabi - or more important a clean spot to eat.... but I tell ya - an awesome thrill - I never believed in trolling - but have the spreads out now! (trying 1 popper, 1 skirt + 1 deep diver) - also chucked a sluggo out at slow troll - with a weight!
  5. Definitely a sweep - good pelican breaky! - annoying little buggers - especially when trying to get some good yakkas - apparently they can be okay live bait.... any comments? We had a nice pelican that joined us for a bait sess - we kept the yakkas and gave him the sweeps!
  6. Salmon - was on fresh caught squid - bottom basher rig - off balmoral near middle head. Bonito - in between north and south head sydney - using yozuri deep diver!
  7. Also further too -have been thinking of adding a second valve - and having valve on both inlets - allowing me - to use 1 or 2 - and also resolve the drain out issue. Have no valve to the T junction then 2 valves to each tank!
  8. Yes - it does! - would like some feedback / suggestions. Have found with the scoop - I can happily leave the pump running + get good flow. When moving I do need to close the valve to half - when settled happily runs at 3/4. Did have a learning experience on Saturday - didn't use tie downs (the bilge pump) on the filter / base - has only some push down clips to the strain / filter cover screwed to the scoop. My burley bomb (homemade) - was left down and pulled against my inflow tubes - and broke my positive power cable - so time for V3! I do carry a few corks (good suggestion for all boat kits) - was thinking worst case when I want to swtich the pumps - to cork the bottoms. Any ideas?
  9. Bruce - its a late question - but where can you buy the rubber o ring seals? Cheers Ads
  10. Uploaded a youtube .... ....... - just in case the below doesnt work much better when parked and have made improvements for last weekend. Bank tank is like a spa (good for squid) + many liveys - front great for keeper tank and yakkas - happily kept about 25 travs - last weekend all day. No big drain Budget spit Battery $150 Pump + Scoop $75 Outlets + tubing - $75-100 - probably underestimated build a little bit
  11. Most likely heading out for days fishing - hopefully out of the heads. Just interested if any other boats wanted to tag / join up. We will launch from Tunks about 6 - head for liveys at Balmoral - then out the heads. Conditions apart from rain look prime. We have a 4.5 mtr fibre glass runabout - so okay for close shore fishing/<2m swells - don't have a big motor - but we will get there okay for 2nm+ a little bit with low swells Just interested to see if there are any raiders that will be heading out and interested to find some partner boats for regular runs - we are heading out most weekends! Will revert to Rose Bay/Roseville Bridge - once the ramps are back in action - or may start to launch from botany Going for kingeys / pelagic's - but if no luck may go for some bottom bashing - table fish (flatties etc) PM or sms on 0402..473..517
  12. Thanks for the TIPS! and feedback - your right about marine shops - bloody $12 just for an inlet / outlet fitting. Tried to get buckets from Bunnings but no good sizes and didn't think to check the irrigation section for fittings Probably all up about $300 bucks to build - with some spent on failed - 1st version setup. I'll try an upload a youtube. The back tank when running - is like a spa. A yakka even made it all the way home - and was swimming round the boat while we were washing it done. If you have a reasonable size boat - ditch the battery aerators - and get yourself a blidge pump! Valves are highly recommended - I can still only run my pump at half with current outlets - but works an absolute charm.!
  13. Don't know if many people have done it - but building your own quality live bait system can be a bit daunting. The added challenge is matching all of the different parts and shop stock. Using Bias and Witworths mainly I found it's pretty difficult to try and match it all up (only can fit / check match in the shop and sometimes you need to use non preferred items / sizes) and compensate for your own's boat size and layout Though I'd share a few of my photos It's got Big Spare Battery (for all accessories) - trickled charged during the week. 1000 gph bilge pump Primary Value 1 * T Splitter (wanted Y shape but no stock in size) 1.5inch Tubing 4* Inlet / Outlets Bracket with scoop Didn't want such a strong pump but it fitted the scope available perfectly Attached V1 and V2 The setup works extremely well
