  1. How about my gear is it alright for poppering?? Aswell as my line is it alright or do i need to use a mono leader instead??
  2. Hey guys, i usually fish at brighton le sands, and always realise how shallow the water is. Some people have told me of a sand bank/hole infront of coles station but i didn't really find much over there at low tide. So i am trying to find help were i could possible find a section with deep water within casting distance from the shore. Thanks guys Billy
  3. Tyvm for reffering me to a brand of popper. I will make sure to get it and tell you how i go in the near future.
  4. Thanks for reply. I have tried that before but i would still not get very consistent blooping, and its causing me to have a feeling that my rod might be to flexible/long. What do you reckon. I might be buying another popper to see if it makes a difference. cheers, billy
  5. Hey guys i currently own a dohhh 35 mm popper lure, as of now the problem i have is that it is not popping well enough. It is either not producing a splash or skipping across the water. My gear is a 7 foot 1-3kg berkley dropshot rod with a mojiko dynamite 1000 reel with 4lb braid and a long 5lb leader. Please any advice guys on making it pop better. I do kind of have a feeling its a problem with either the length of my rod or the type of popper..... Thanks guys, Billy
  6. Thankyou guys well appreciated for clearing that up for me..
  7. Hey guys, so ive been trying to find out which colours i should choose when soft plastic fishing. How do i choose which colour?? Is is true you choose according to the water clarity and weather??? ty guys
  8. Thank you for advice. I've heard of Zman plastics but don't really know where to buy them from, plus do they work as well as Gulp Plastics, and wat about snapbacks are they those ones that have alot of action.
  9. Thank you. The reason i removed the clip was because i thought it would give less action, but you have proved me wrong! However even the clip i would get a few tangles when i used a lift, wind, stop retrieve. thanks, Billy
  10. Hey guys I just bought a TT 1/8 blade. it worked pretty well but the problem i encountered with it was the tangles i had on the back of my treble hook. I tied my line to the back hole as i'm using a slow retrieve. If i constantly kept reeling in i would not get any tangles, but the problem with that is i don't want to use that retrieve as it is a bit fast for my liking. The retrieve i wanted to use which got tangled involved me jacking it up letting it sit down on sand for 3 seconds than jacking it up again. ty guys PS: oh yeah, im also using 4 pound braid attached to 4 pound flurocarbon, with a 1-3kg berkley dropshot rod and a small 1000 sized reel
  11. TY for all the replys guys well appreciated. lol i had a feeling they where tailor, just gotta move on:D And i was targetting bream that day. Can't wait to take another crack with my new gear i boughtm ill post a report. CHeers, BIlly
  12. hey guys went fishing today, i was using 2" gulp prawns on a 1/8 size 2 hook jighead. I got alot of bites but kept getting the tail bitten off. Like around 50 times:D i got real pissed off and decided to call it a day. i really need help on this, it will be aprreciated. Do u rekon my hooks arent long enough? COuld it be a bream, tailor, pufferfish or any of that stuff? Any way to fix it will be greatly appreciated ty guys Tight lines
  13. Thanks for the advice. As for the 10kg braid i was actually ment to say 10bl braid.. sorry for that I just measured my popper and its 35 mm long, for whiting and stuff like that... Then i compared the weight between a 1/8th jighead and the popper and the popper felt like it was half the weight. So now im thinking my popper might be way, way, way too light. And as for my rod it doesnt have any lure specifications, but it is very light, thin and made out of graphite, which probably means its designed for lighter lures. Maybe i should go buy a heavier popper for whiting????
  14. Thanks for the reply bennoz. I can cast a 1/8th soft plastic 10-20 m far, which means the popper is much lighter than 1/8th..... so does that mean a 5-10 metre cast is all ill expect to get??
  15. Hey guys, i recently bought a dohhh popper lure, the only problem i had with it was that i could only cast 5-10m maximum. I have a 2.10 meter mojiko soft plastics rod from 3-6kg rating on it is a Shimano hyperloop 4000FB reel. I am using 10kg braid and 10kg flurocarbon leader. Do you guys have any tips on casting it further, could it be my lure is to small or too light?????? ty, brighton le sands
  16. tyvm for the reply nibbles. Ill be sure to try the recommended soft plastics. love your comment on the melting soft plastics:p i would use it as scent for my bait. tight lines
  17. THanks for the advice guys. How about the tails getting bitten off?? And any advice on whiting and bream would be well appreciated. Thankyou very much
  18. Hey guys im a land based fisherman on brighton le sands and have just decided to move from bait to soft plastics as i dont have enough time to fish with bait anymore. i've tried a few different soft plastics and have had alot of bites with gulp minnows and prawns but the problem is that there not hooking up or the tail is getting bitten off. Is there something wrong im doing? Furthermore, iv'e heard about all of the success people get on flathead at botany bay but for some reason i have never caught one of the shore! Any tips and advice on that will be appreciated. My last question will be soft plastics for whiting and bream. are popper lures good??? Thanks guys and hopefully with your advice i can catch a big fish:p yay!!! today i caught 4 flathead 1 snapper. All within 30 minutes although they were all small. After that half an hour the tail of my plastic was getting bitten off again...... All in all it was still a fun day and can't wait to try using poppers tommorow common guys dont be shy.....
  19. Hi and thankyou for responding. I gave tube worms a try today fishing on the rocks sticking out of the shore. i managed to get a few bites and nibbles but i couldnt land them. i was the only one not catching fish while everyone else was. Everytime the fish bit i would end up losing them. Do you reckon its because my line is loose or something else. P.S: Sorry we cant meet up as im only 15....
  20. So i followed the advise of u guys last time and decided to go down to a local fish shop he gave me a fishing rod that i can throw very far with. Yet i can seem to catch no fish, i have only used prawns so far, and only use a basic runner rig. i fish mainly on the shore and avoid the rock platforms sticking out of the beach as i always get snags. I would appreciate some advice from u experienced fisherman on how i can start catching some fish, and also where to fish, rigs i can use to avoid snags, best time to fish and so on. TYVM guys
  21. thanks guys i know exactly where to go buy my fishing rod now. im going to be fishing mostly on the rocks aswell as the shore on the left of it. so i would probably need a rod that throws far. do u reckon that first option you gave me is good? tyvm guys.
  22. Hey guys nice forum btw. i recently moved to brighton le sands, and want to pursue the hobby of fishing. So far i don't know much about fishing. I don't have a rod yet either and would like some advice on where i could fish at brighton and what rod i should buy, aswell as the bait. tyvm
