  3. Hello fellow Raiders, This is my first report from an exciting activity in the late afternoon today. Finished work a little early today so I thought to myself...since I'm in coogee why not finish the day off with . Sea breeze was light and the waters were calm. Drive pass the beach to Lureline Bay. Standing at the top looking over the bay, it seems like there's no activity and I was deciding whether to wet the line or not. Well, you'll never know what's in the water until you cast the lure. Off I went to my car and grab my rod, bucket and tackle box and ran down the edge to the rocks. took out my little 10g Gold Halco lure and cast it. In less that 3 mins while retriving the line...BANG!!! my reel started to sing. This crazy salmon was jumping in & out of the water but I managed to bring it near to where I was standing. It was still kicking hard while I was trying to lift it up to dry grond when suddenly a loud SNAP!!! my rod broke into 2 and I screammed But I realised the line isn't cut so I winding the remainder braid line with my hand and attempted to bring up the fish when again this time the line SNAP!!! Now this fish is already half dead and on the rocks, I jumped off the platform onto the rocks and grab it onto shore..that's my prize...my FIRST SAMBO...not going to lose it after that great fight. It measured 60cm and weights 2.5Kg. Ran back to my car and grab my other rod with my heart thumping and could hardly breath due to the excitement. Cast again and BANG! another salmon of slightly smaller in size 58cm weigthing 2.2kg I'm so excited. The third cast again BANG! this time it was a harder fight..sure enuf, it wa a bigger fish and is crazy jumping out of the water countless times...then suddenly I could see it spat the lure. both the fish and lure fell into the water and upon looking at the lure, one of the treble hook snap! Afte that, all went quiet ..not a bump... Anyways, I'm so happy today for my first salmons and also I can give them as b'day present & surprise to my girlfriend whose b'day is today. She was in awe when she saw the size of the fishes. Great day, great time, great action in a quiet bay. I'm not worried abt the broken rod; there's always another rod but not another opportunity like this. Cheerio Raiders!! It's me Reelfisho again with my other pics..i know you guys want pics as proof. here we go!! Those are the fishes and my broen rod. And here's me with the fishes (sorry abt my topless pic)
  4. G'day Raiders, It really has been a wonderful time and day for all the Raiders at the social. Firstly, I want to thank the sponsors for their support, the organisers who worked so hard putting everything in place for a smooth operation. Drinks and esp the Food was excellent, keeping everyone a little charged up after a hot weary day under the sun. And congratulations to the Ralph, Fisherwoman and also young Andy. This is my (and my gf) first outing at the social, having missed the previously 2 due to work commitment . Woke up early with hopes of striking kings later in the day and found there were also other landbased fishos already waiting for the kings to strike. Glad to meet up with other fellow raiders, also Swordfisherman, MrsSwordfisherman, FLightmanager, Boxfish, d' moderators..all of you guys are just great! Didn't catch any kings despite having to see the landings of a couple of kicking kings by Hiramasa. But while having a short chat with MrsSwordfisherman, a boxfish took me snackbait. This fish really feels funny..like a pencil case stucked inside it's body. But the funniest thing is that a fellow raider also known as "Boxfish" was fishing next to me. What a co-in-ki-ki..(coincidence)!! Yes, that's me with the fish among the photos. By midday, packed up me gear and went for a swim...water was pretty cold. then rested and stayed till after the presentation. Looking forward to the next social and it's really nice meeting fellow raiders. Cheers to all ! Ray the reelfisho
  5. Hey kbark, well done and congrats to you! Looks like you've already start an early spark..if not flare at CG. After reading your report and Kingsrule's, I'm so tempted to take fake sickie from work Me and me gal are couldn't wait for the Raiders' outing on sunday. Cheers to all Raiders! Ray
  6. G'day Milts, I'd say try Clifton Gardens jetty as well. (I've not caught a king yet but)Went on monday with my gf to check out the place and saw this guy fighting to land this king and as Penguin said about the pylons....the fish went side to side then straight under the jetty and out again followed by a "DING" on the fisher's line ...going back to freedom. My gf saw the action and was dumbfolded coz she kept saying there's no action n fish there. So there you go, Milt. New to fighting the kings..I'll be at the social as landbase. Maybe will see you and other fellow raiders there. Cheers, Ray
  7. what a great result, Kelvin. Seems like you've already done some research and development for the upcoming event. Well Done!! it would be great if I can get those kingies being a landbase fisho. Cheers from Ray.
  8. Hi Rob, I'm pretty new to fishing the kingies but would very much like to join in the fun...happen to get my weekend off (after much begging with my supervisor). I will be me and my gf as Landbase but would like to join any fellow raiders' boat as deckies. Would you be able to tell me what gear to prepare/use for this social, pls? Look forward to hearing from you. best Regards, Ray
  9. Hello fellow Raider! First thing first..HAPPY NEW YEAR '07 TO EVERYONE!!! Tis my first posting /reply here in this tremendously good fishing blog. Been reading these great reports and it's getting better and better each time. CONGRATS to Hiramasa on the kingies. I guessed I've missed out the action there if only I had stay a little longer . It's my first time there at Clifton to try out with my gf...I mean fishing. Was there till just before noon and landed an octopus which held on to a beer bottle. Seems like it's still enjoying the New Year's celebration Now I can show the proof to my gf there's kings at Clifton...just patience and persistance will reward every fishos. Am I not right? Cheers RAIDERS!!! Will surely post on my catches in the future. Ray
