  1. I was surfing down there a few weeks back and a guy was pulling in a few decent tailor he was fishing in front of the little creek that runs out there when it rains enough.
  2. I didn't bother measuring the pike but they were probably 45-50cm the slimey was probably about 30cm I was really suprised they would go for it. I've heard pike make good livies but half the ones we pulled in were looking pretty dead when thrown back in.
  3. Hey guys, Hit the hacking on New Year's Eve for the last fish of the year. Plan was to get some slimeys and target a few kings. We had heaps of trouble getting past the pike and only managed 1 off shark island and a bunch of yakkas. The slimey went out live and was straight away taken by pike. We hit gymea bay to down rig the yakkas but it was quiet so we moved onto the deep off lilli pilli baths where we managed a rat king on a live yakka and a 78 cm flatty on a yakka strip. PB flatty was a good way to finish the year. Took a few snaps and sent her back. Happy new year everyone. Dan. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    WD-40

Hey guys I heard from someone that wd 40 works great to attract fish if sprayed on lures or bait anyone tried it? Cheers, Dan.
  6. Hey mate I've been having some luck lately with a dark coloured jig with red behind it so it glows red under water. And a slow constant retrieve seems to be working for me aswell.
  7. Nah I stripped it down and gave it a real good clean out and oiled it a bit so it's all good
  8. hey fellas, hit the hacking this morning and it wasn't pretty, the wind was a lot stronger than forecast pumped some nippers and headed to a little cove just west of mainbars little harbour it was very slow with only one whiting in the boat and it was only just legal. i saw some flashes of silver so i cast a nipper at them and bang! a nice fat 30 cm whiting. all went quiet for a while until my mates rod bends over with something taking a big run, a couple of minutes later and a big fat 40 cm whiting was in the esky. all went quiet so we decided to head in. we were cleaning our fish in the boat across the bay from the water st. ramp where the old sailing club once was (when was that knocked down?) stupid me put some squid on my hooked and chucked it out and left the rod sitting next to me in the boat ( not in the rod holder) when all of a sudden i hear a splash and look up just in time to see my rod being towed into the depths. after standing there dumbfounded for a minute i grabbed my rod with a live bait set up on it and cast in the direction the rod was going. slowly retrieving it so the hooks would pull along the bottom suddenly i felt some weight and kept winding slowly when my rod appears, i grab the rod out of the water and feel weight start winding and still on the hook was a 30 cm bream. so thanking my lucky stars i headed home with a feed of whiting and bream and my rod lives to fight another day. Dan.
  9. Hi fellas I fished up south west arm today and got a 46 cm flatty and two just legal whiting. Got bitten off by what felt like a nice flatty. Moved to the sand bar across from ship rock and picked up two bream about 30 cm. there was a bit of surface action in that area as well. Dan.

  14. G'day everyone, In previous years when the weather got cold the fishing gear got packed away but after being well and truly bitten by the fishing bug this summer I don't think I will be able to give it up this year. So just wondering what's worth chasing during the colder months? Fishing mainly in the hacking and botany. Cheers, Dan.
  15. I think mainbar is the closet place you can legally pump nippers. And wanda beach has plenty of beach worms.
  16. ok cool thanks for the reply, have you ever had any trouble with them taking your bait? ive seen a few posts on here with people saying they have hooked them. cheers, Dan.
  17. hey guys, ive recently been spotting heaps of sea turtles ive never seen them around the cronulla area before this year. ive seen them heaps whilst camping up at point plomer but this summer ive seen them in the surf here and whilst fishing all the way up to lilli pilli baths. and one of then was an absolute monster. is this strange? cheers Danlarter.

  19. ive done my research mate but a bit of local knowledge is always handy. my first attempt will be done with live yakkas around the hightide im not sure if a livie from a float would be better or just sending it to the bottom as research ill probably try both anyway. cheers, Danlarter

  22. G'day raiders! i woke on sunday keen to hit the beach that night but unlucky for me the family were in town so i decided on monday morning before work. after borrowing the old mans beach rod for the last few years i decided it was time to shout myself my own, so off to gabes fishing shop at sylvania i went after a bit of chit chat with the bloke working there i decided on the kamashark 12 foot 2 piece rod as my weapon of choice. i grabbed some pippis for bait as they had no fresh worms. i cant find any at the moment is anyone else having this problem? and if not where has them? i was up at 5 and line in the water by 5.30 as the sun started to rise the fish stared to stir and it was long until i had a nice plate sized bream in the bag a bit shy of 30 cms but a fat little bugger. two more casts and i was quickly baited both times, unfortunately it was time for me to head off to work but all in all a great way to break in my new rod a beautiful mornings fishing and something for dinner. cheers. dan.
  23. G'day buddy I'm heading down the beach first thing in the morning to try out my new rod if you don't mind me asking where abouts were you fishing? Nice catch by the way.
