  1. Spent a lot of days as a kid fishing the rail bridge and Aquatic club breakwall. It's surprising to a lot of people jut how productive that area of the system is. I'm pleased to hear that it is still producing quality fish and providing great fun. I hope to be up there this weekend to wet a line so I might just see you on the water. Keep the BW reports coming!!
  2. Caught 7 flounder of various sizes on the day. The biggest of them we kept, both measured 32cms nose to tip. I grew up on the BW but live in the Blue Mtns now. I go back to visit family as often as I can and always pack some kit - you just never know what opportunity might present itself!!! A day spent fishing isn't counted in your life time, especially those spent on the BW.
  3. Fished inside Box Hd with my wife and daughter. Had a great day. My wife caught the 60cm flathead, the rest was shared among us all. Used pack prawns and pillies.
  4. I'm heading to Fraser Is for the first time with my brother and his family. Looking forward to working the beaches in search of the legendary tailor and possible small sharks. It's been a long wait for this trip so I'm looking foward to it. Like previous members enjoy the holiday season and stay safe. Look forward to reading lots of successful stories in the New Year
  5. Flattieman the twitching nippers are starting to grow on me. I've had to do a lot of experimenting with them but the more I use them the more confident I am becoming. I need to starting trying the different colour combos available and try ro match the colour to the conditions. Always something new to learn with this fishing game Tim
  6. Hit BW again today with my younger brother. Started at 5 a.m. from Koolewong and headed around to get a supply of nippers. Started with a drift from Little Box Hd to Box Hd with a steady supply of berley going trevs, undersized pinkies and assorted small reef fish keeping us busy. Hung around Box Hd for an hour or so fishing the washes for 5 solid bream in the ice box, best 800 gms. Headed up to the top end of Paddy's for a fast session of whiting, flathead and bream, best whiting 40cm. Flathead just legal but were returned for another day. Ended the day with 5 bream, 6 whiting and great day shared with a good mate. Sorry no pics as the camera on the phone is playing up. Twitcher nippers worked well on the whiting and bream when fishing Paddy's but the real deal won the day on number and size of fish caught. Tim
  7. Hi Raiders, My first post for a while. Spent the day fishing the Brisbane Water, started at 5:30 from Koolewong ramp, conditions where perfect. Started at half tide rocks for a couple of flathead and a solid Trev. Headed back to Woy Woy to gather some yabbies then up to Paddy's Channel to chase some whiting. Plenty of fish around finished with a mixed dozen of whiting and flathead.
  8. Great report. I have fished that area of Kanangra a couple of times, especially the Kowmung, over the last 20 years of so. Pristine it is and the views go on forever. I would like to go back there in person one day but your report has taken me back in my memories. Thanks for the trip.
  9. Noah The B/W is a place I know very well. The water is very cold and clear at the moment and so the fishing is pretty slow. The best places I find are the sand flats and the drop off line at Saratoga as well as the oyster lease on the railway side at the northern end of Paddy's Channel. The Rip bridge is always worth a throw but be prepared to work hard at this time of the year to find a few fish and get a feed. There are a few spots to pump nippers but the nippers are few and far between as they get a fair working over throughout the year. Try the sand flat opposite the oyster lease described above. Also try SP's along the edge of the oyster leases as I have caught a lot of bream and flathead using SP's, especially twitcher nippers, shads and grubs. Good luck and I hope you leave a few behind for me. Tim
  10. Had a similar experience off Palm Beach about a month ago. General consensus then was a shark or possibly a dolphin. Gets the heart racing when that much line disappears in such a short space of time. Be nice to get a look at whatever it was, even if you couldn't land it. Sounds like you had a productive night despite ant disappointment about the one that got away. Better luck next time.
  11. Hi Ant, Gotta say that spoon bay is one of my favourite spots on the Central Coast. Spent most of my growing years up that way and cut my teeth fishing the Brisbane Water and surrounding beaches. Bad luck on the day but you're right to say that its great to wet a line. I live in the Blue Mountians now and don't get to wet a line as much as I would like. Keep at it hope to see you on the coast sometime.
  12. Headed out on Wednesday morning with my brother for a fish in Brisbane Water. Left the ramp at 6:30 headed to Box Head, heaps of fish on the sounder but few prepared to bite. Caught a couple of small flathead, a squire and rock cod. About 8:30 a big school of salmon and tailor boiled past tried the SP's, hooked 6, lost 6. Headed back into the estuary where the water was cold (12 C) and gin clear. Fish very timid to bite, scored a couple of whiting and 3 large wrasse (unusual for B/W) at the top of Paddy's Channel. Spooked plenty of fish whilst motoring over the sand flats, couple of large lizards certainly caught the eye. Conditions were ideal with lots of parking spots available. Used nippers, prawns and fish for bait. Better than than my best day at work!!
  13. Thanks for the replies. Whatever it was it gave the heart a kick start. Can't wait til next time.
  14. Headed to Palm Bch Fridayas Id heard reports of jews about. Perfect conditions for a beach bash. Fished from 1-5 p.m. on a rising tide. Caught a solid bream (37cm), a dozen or so dart and a couple of juvenille salmon. Used a variety of bait but squid and slimey mack seemed to be the best. Was smoked by something mid afternoon, 250m of 30lb braid gone in 60 secs, probably still heading to NZ as I write. Applied as much pressure as I could but I couldn't stop it and it wasn't about to stop. Have no idea what but another fisho down the beach suspected a rogue kingie, but I'm not sure. Any other suggestions?? A few solid salmon being caught around me. Had a great afternoon, well worth a throw.
  15. Nothing, possibly to calm, headed for the cover. You're right any day fishing is better than my best day at work. Just gotta keep trying and learning
