  1. Get aluminium mounting hardware. Dissimilar metals + salt water, makes for a bad time
  2. The name is deceiving, it isn't a snapper hot spot. Snapper Island is a decent bait ground though. Northeast side is the place to go. Have caught some decent flathead on the southeast side too. Need to be careful off exposed rock there, it comes out of nowhere.
  3. What safety gear do you have with that boat? Makes a difference to where you can go
  4. My brother got the Polycraft 6m centre console and won't go back to ally or glass
  5. Keep an eye on Facebook Marketplace, there are a lot of really good deals that come up. Just need to be primed and ready to jump on it.

    Forster

If you get bored at Forster, drive 1hr north to Crowdy Head. Great marina, lots of close by reefs and shoals that fish really well. A point from Rick's post above; Don't forget about the marine park at Forster, it is rare that fisheries are forgiving.
  8. good work on the recovery! I would follow this guide http://fish.shimano.com/content/sac-fish/en/home/customer-service/reel-maintenance-instructions/_jcr_content/bodycontent/download_2/downloadFile/file.res/Maintenance Tips- Spinning Reels.pdf And probably use an air compressor to get the majority of sand out.
  9. The big screen just makes finding spots easier, for those with diminished sight at least
  10. The navionics Web app is great for having a look around for new spots while at the computer
  11. I believe chopper is correct with those entries. As for pub, harrington has some good ones. If you're hungry, forster has a great buffet at the bowls club
  12. Hope the scumbag doesn't see his boat and gear again! Auction it and proceeds to the management of fisheries.
  13. Is the fuel tank breather open?
  14. Hi all, Joined 4 years back when I first moved to Canberra, just introducing myself now. Shows how much fishing I got to do in the last 4 years I have now purchased an old Brooker 4.4 forward control with 40hp evinrude. After a few months of working on it, it is finally running well. Making trips to Batemans Bay every 3rd saturday now. Is there anyone here that would be able to give me a hand to find a spot to get started? I drifted around the bay on saturday and pulled in s**t loads of mostly undersized flathead. I will be on the hunt for some reef species and some squid. Cheers all, tight lines.
  15. I ended up in Batemans sat for about an hour on the Clyde no bites on baits or soft plastics so went walking around and had some dinner. Heading home I decided to stop at nelligen and had a fish of the pontoon there. Got a 36cm flathead on the first cast and nothing for the next 3 hrs. I'm just happy I got to be at salt water for a while.
  16. Hi all It's my first post on here. I'm in Canberra and just decided I'm gunna go for a drive and wet a line down the south coast somewhere. Was thinking Batemans or moruya sort of area, just seeing if anybody has been fishing around there past couple days to see what its like. We'll be land based with some baits, soft plastics and I got a couple hb's to try out. Any advice or recommendations would be muchly appreciated. Cheers Peter.
