  1. Gday Mitch, Welcome to Fishraider. Crossed the bar at Forster a fair bit over the years, Its generally quite predictable but always be cautious. When heading in and out always stick to the Southern breakwall which has the Coastal Patrol tower, as the Northern side is quite shallow and is where most waves break. Most locals cross the bar early and most come back at around Midday or earlier before low tide and before there's a good chance of a North Easterly blowing up. When coming back in, I usually pick a lull in the waves and go for gold.Riding the waves in is also a good way , and always log in with the Forter Tuncurry Coastal patrol. All the best lad...Steve PS: Mate would not even consider crossing the Bar up at Taree/Manning river. From a fool who has crossed it once before, simply don't bother Crowdy Head is a much better option and his only a few minutes up North.
  2. Gday mate, What day you planning on heading out?
  3. Gday fellas, Headed off Lake Mac/ Swansea in less than convincing conditions, was my knew boats first real run and handled itself quite well in the sloppy 20 knot North easterly.Ducked in behind Moon Island for a couple of hours, heaps of Wrasse and Rock cod. Kept a Groper about 42cm and Cod apparently called a Barb-wirey cod looks identicle to the fish Kingfisher snared off Botany bay a few weeks ago. If the sea calms down by early arvo might try and head out again for a couple of hours...Cheers Steve

  18. Hey fellas, Sorry to be a nuisance, just wondering if anyone has ever crossed the bar at the mouth of the Bellinger River at Urunga. I just came back from Urunga this morning and the bar looked like a no go zone the whole 6 days I was up there.. Steve

  20. Gday fellas, Haven't been on in a week or so and haven't been out fishing until Yesterday off Urunga. Up at Urunga due to an unfortunate incident in the family. Fished with my brother in law. Launched up at Coffs due to the fact that the Bellinger Bar was basically closed up with sand and the right side which was open had 2-3m breakers crashing into the river. A good day on the water. 4 Mowies to 50cm, 2 Kingies 58, 70cm, 2 Trevally to 35cm, Sweep and Strangely enough a small Dolphin Fish???? A good day on the water for a bit of relaxing, yet to test out my knew boat, possibly on the weekend...Thanks guys Steve
