    Reel spray

Some years ago I got some reel spray from the Pirtek fishing challenge. Worked brilliantly, but I’ve run out. What should I use?
  2. I figured it out. I am tech savvy I swear haha
  3. Glad I asked now, I was certain I wanted to go down that route but will give carpet another look as well as the Flowcoat stuff
  4. Thanks Donna. I couldn't get it to work so just gave up in the end.
  5. At some stage I will be putting in a false floor, casting deck and storage on my 12" project tinny. I have some experience with marine carpet in a larger boat and it's ok to stand on but a HUGE pain to clean. Squid ink, bloody, scales etc just don't come off easily (IMO) Has anyone used EVA foam in a similar context? This is the type I am considering https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Gray-Adhesive-Marine-Flooring-Faux-Teak-EVA-Foam-Boat-Yacht-Decking-Sheet-Pads/264447459018?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160908105057%26meid%3D3c89f6b132da4edc89fd37463c88aafe%26pid%3D100675%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D15%26mehot%3Dpp%26sd%3D264447459018%26itm%3D264447459018%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2380057&_trksid=p2380057.c100675.m4236&_trkparms=pageci%3Aa5a6220a-547f-11eb-be47-4a23256e7043|parentrq%3Af47811271760aadc019df3b8ffee14ee|iid%3A1
  6. It’s not for sale sorry, I only just got it. The motor is in fantastic condition. Old yes, but in my opinion, a way better engine than some cheap direct from COVID Country options.
  7. Great tip frank. Thank you. I won’t have an issue burning through 20L of fuel these school holidays, it’s quite thirsty going flat stick with 4 people in it haha. I am going to send you a PM so we can talk trailers and other mods!
  8. I caught one off box head close to the rocks throwing a small plastic.
  9. In the interests of keeping things simple, I think I will leave it how it is for a while. A false floor would be great for comfort, but putting in a bilge pump, battery etc instead of getting out on the water and enjoying it doesn't seem logical.
  10. I will just have to work around them then Would cutting into the side of them to install storage not weaken things and remove emergency buoyancy
  11. So that's why newer boats have wide gunwales.
  12. They are full of foam, so I am assuming they have to stay.
  13. Not that far away! Although I am staying away from your neck of the woods at the moment *cough cough Corona* Do you have a thread on your mods mate? I am going to use this boat for a while before I decide on what to do. However I know I want some marine carpeted areas and some storage for the anchor and basic fishing tackle and rods. Would really appreciate your input!
  14. It has some rust and has an odd tap type tow ball coupling, but just got towed from the south coast home with no issues. I am thinking $800 is a good place to start. I plan to paint it, look for a new trailer, casting deck, sounder etc. once winter sets in and I am not using it.
  15. Thanks Frank. Hopefully the photo links work. I am not sure what to make from the "make an offer once you see it" deal. Originally a figure of $800 was thrown around. Low? High? I am not sure. Everything is registered and road/ sea worthy.
  16. 1960 something Clark 12" tinny with a 15hp Mariner motor. It is rough and the trailer is home made from who knows when! It has some sentimental value as it is my Dad and his best mates first boat. May trips to Montague Island is this this plus all sorts of other adventures. The motor has a full service history, and I mean FULL. Every trip, flush and service has been documented. It stopped being used in about 2018, however it was started regularly and maintained as needed (all documented!) Trailer has new tyres and bearing. I have been asked to make an offer on it. Interested in the brains trust knowledge on what would be a reasonable offer and also what do I need to take into account for future expenditure. A new trailer at some stage I would say.
  17. Good advice and funny you say that. I had already planned mods for it and then was told it had some swivel seats, rod holders etc already there. the motor is 20 years old but comes with a full service history and detailed log book of every trip it has ever been on!
  18. Thanks for the replies. I will post some photos tomorrow when I pick it up. It's a 1960's era Clark 12". My dad and his best mates boat from their youth.
  19. Wondering if tinny seats provide structural integrity to the boat. i.e if I remove the middle one of the three I may/ will weaken things. Haven't got the boat yet, musing about putting in the cliche deck.
  20. I've attached a drawing to help my question. Either in a boat or on the shore, which direction do you retrieve soft plastics when there is a current running? a is with the current b is against the current. Do fish predominately face against the current to nab smaller fish? I am mainly talking bread and butter fish here like flatties, bream, whiting, trevers etc.

    Tinny purchase

A boat that big huh, wow, that is longer than I have been looking at. Might have to borrow a mates boat to test out how we go.

    Tinny purchase

Hi all. A bit of background to give you context. Some of the happiest times with my dad were in a boat fishing or boating. We have access to a 4.8m Baymaster boat located a few hours away at the family holiday house. It's a chore to put in the water and out again. I have two kids 8 & 6 who are into fishing, boating and being outside and a wife who is into being outside. I've got them into using soft plastic so I don't have to use bait. I am now on the hunt for a tinny to take out on days where the wife is working or after school. Not only for fishing but for exploring as well. I have set a budget of $2k for initial purchase in case my bright idea of family time doesn't work out. I've found a few in my price range and I am after advice on a) what to look for when inspecting them. Do I ask to have them out on the water? 2) I am looking at boats with a floor already installed, ones that come with all the bits and pieces like oars, anchor, lights etc but is there anything else I should look for?
  23. Next time you go diving out these send me a pm and I will give you my gopro to use and take some underwater footage. Would lover to see what it is like out there
  24. Have decided to not rush out and buy flares, have also decided to not go into open waters today. Instead just stick to Brisbane Waters and poke around there for a few hours. I have a fire extinguisher sorted and will be buying a permanent one for it before I go out in it again. Heading out now to mount the compass. Thank you everyone for their advice and sense.
