  1. G'day Andrew

I use covers for most of my rigged lures. But I have had gun ho mates throw them into the spread without removing said covers.

I also use 25mm diameter and up heatshrink as sleeves for the business end of trolling skirts that are in the lure rolls, to minimise the mess that occurs when you manage to 'accumulate' more than the roll is designed for. Let me know if you want a better description.

    Cheers Leo

    Hey Leo,

Thats a good point, removing the covers before dropping them over the side haha. A lot of people forget them in the excitement of it all.

Thanks for letting us know how you do it. I like finding out how others set up their gear.

Anyone else got some great ideas?

  2. Hi,

Will the lures be available at tackle shops in Australia in the near future?

    Regards

    Bob

    Hey Bob,

They sure will be available in tackle shops but cant be sure when.

Its far quicker and easier to jump on the website and buy them online. Haha saves the running around.

  3. Received my order the other day.

Got to say these lures look impressive plus the benefit of packing bait inside,I can't wait to get them in the water.

Excellent, they wont be in the water too long as fish find them real quick!!

Keep us up to date with your successes..

  4. Hey rayzor,

The line runs through the head (the same as any other skirted trolling lure) then passes through the bait chamber down to the hook. By unscrewing the hook lock from the bait chamber it will simply let the leader run thought the head freely but still be connected to the hook.

    Hope this helps...

  7. The day started in the lazy hours of Monday morning with a last minute weather check and a quick look at SST we made the decision to fish Northeast of Browns as there was a distinct temp break of 18.7 to 19.6 degrees over the short distance of a quarter mile, so we loaded the boat, dropped the lines and headed up the harbour.

As we rounded South Head we were greeted by a light Southwesterly and fairly calm seas so the course was set and the bow pointed east.

The afternoon was slowly turning into night when a radio broke out in a burst of screams that went something like "4 WAYHOOK UP ON BLUE FIN" so with ears pealed I waited for more info, wasn't long before the coordinates were given over channel 21 and we headed that direction.Crossing the 1000 fathoms mark north of the vessel hooked up on dusk in 18.8 degrees we put a couple of glow sticks in the head of the Scent Blazer lures and no sooner I turned my head to see a 80-100kg of southern blue fin tuna eat the short corner (Purple Frigate 24cm / 9.5in Smoker head)…

Check out the biggest fish, photos (as they are to large) and the rest of the report on:

  8. Went looking for the cold water. Could not find any. Didn't matter. We managed to hook up on four simultaneously halfway between Heatons and Browns in 19.2 degrees water. Never seen anything like it. Managed to hang on to one. No birds. No visible bait until the water exploded around us. A sudden huge commotion with sauris and fin everywhere. These guys can manage the most amazing aerials. We were using for the first time one of those Scent Blazer Bowling Ball Teasers stuffed with Mackeral. Not sure if it made the difference but we will be using it again. That's for sure.

Great work Uncle Bo-Bo, very nice fish!!
