  1. Done A tough question and topic. What is a recreational fisherman? Someone who loves and respects the opportunity to fish both today and tomorrow or a person who is there to grab whatever they can get at any cost to the environment and future catches. To get a fishing licenser it costs an few bucks. To get a gun license you need to belong to a club, training, education etc. That's one of the things I really like about being a Fishraider member. mijaro
  2. Thanks, AD and others for your thoughts and advice. I had heard about submerging the reel in fresh water truth is I didn't have the guts to do it. I will know better next time. Will let you know when the rebuild project is finished. Mijaro
  3. Thanks Zed and slinky, A great piece of literature Looks very healthy. I don't think my Penn has as many parts, but all info is relevant. All I need to do is know how to put it back together. At my age and memory it will need to be in one sitting, with the help of strategically taken photos as I dismantle. In the meantime I am thinking of spraying the guts with inox? I won't get back to it until next weekend mikjaro
  4. Hi Raiders, I guess it had to happen One slip and my 2000 is submerged in saltwater. Washed it in warm water and crossed fingers to no avail. Opened it up this morning and salt crystals are already forming, amongst the grease and the gears. I am thinking: Stripping it Soaking each part in meth? Reassembly using photos I took as I stripped it Add plenty of grease as I go. Any comments or suggestions pls. Thanks, Mijaro
  5. Hi Guys, I have not fished seriously for well over 15 years. I now come back to a world of plastics, braid line, tournament reels etc.etc. What type of guides are suitable for braid line? I am looking at a rod with Titanium Nitride guides ?? How are these likely to react to Braid line? thanks,. Mijaro
