  1. Well done, your patience and hard work is to be admired!!!

Question: I have a 2003 Quintrex coast runner, where the hinges are for the window there are rust stains. The screws for the hinge look to be stainless steel, so why is it rusting. Should the screws be alloy of some sort?

  2. Aron,

You got to be kidding, the facts a plain and simple.

    I have 2003 Coast runner

I want to put a lader on it

I go to the dealer and ask for a Qunitrex ladder

I go home try to put it on and guess what, its to wide!!!

    Reply from dealer, SORRY MATE.....

Aron, I'm glad you happy!!! :1badmood:

  3. Another Quintrex issue.

I have a 2003 4.6m tinny which didn't have a ladder when I first bought it. A few days ago I finally decided to buy one from a Quintrex dealer (I didn't want a generic one).

Guess what the new ladders for quintrex boats is 5mm to wide. What a pain in the A...s!!!!!!

2006 Qunitrex boats have brackets 5mm larger than the older models. Why does this company behave so badly, customer service my Ar..s!!

    This needs to be said.

  4. Sure sounds great BUT!

What hapens to the kids when they get older, ans. they will leave for Sydney is that what you want?

What possible opportunities are their for your wife and yourself for future carear growth etc?

Will you or your wife go stir crazy in this small town?

Will the inlaws really look after them? How much?

Sorry to poor cold water on your idea, there are risks associated with it, thats all.

I thought about it as well in a small town down the south coast, and after spending 4 weeks down there on holiday one year, it changed my my mind.

    But sure sounds great!

  5. Hi guys,

The last 6 days have been spent in Sunny Jarvis Bay. The weather was fantastic, Summer seemed to have come early, but the wind finally arriving on Sunday 20m top 30 knots.

Went fishing 4 days in a row but with little success. Went out to the Northern head land (light house), Bowan Island, middle ground, around Husky beach, Honey Moon Bay, Boat Habour and near Murrys beach.

Tried trolling, bottom fishing and drifting.

Total catch, 4 flathead, 2 large pike, 4 leather jackets and 15 squid.

In regard to the fishing I came back a little dissapointed.

I have put it down to the change of season, what do you think? Still early for the summer species.

Next time I'm down there I'm going to Greenwel Point and heading down the coast, any suggestions where to stop at?

  6. Pollycraft need to be able to convince people, with facts, that the wait of the boats does not impact on fuel.

I saw them, look good and strong, but the weight of the boat and how it will perform out in the water???

    Major boat show issue.

Of all the boat manufacturers, not one gave a demonstartion of how they actually go in the water!!!!!!

    Not one !!!!

What was the point of the show????????? Your at Darling Habour why not put your boat in the water and show me how it goes, don't just talk about it.

What are these guys hidding, besides that fact it's a closed shop.

These guys are better than AWB!! :1badmood:

  7. Aron,

Your a legend, the DIY looks like my most economical option.

I have a Qunitrex 4.6m coast runner, with no storage space what so ever.

As soon as you get 3 guys on it with a Ice box, tackel boxs, rods and some food etc its all over, no more space to move.

The 4.8m has a storage compartment under the floor, the 4.6m don't. I don't know what the logic is behind this?

The one of the main functions of these boats is to fish. Right.

So why is there no storage compartments for a Ice Box, tackle box (inbuilt). Qunitrex couldn't give a rats, nor could there sister Stacer.

Their arogance at their dealership highlights their lack of knowledge and or Couldn't give a rats attitude.

Another example the new Stacer Sun master - 4.6m, 4.8m etc Why would anyone want a 500mm transom, would you klike mopre cabin space instead. The design does not take into consideration the user requirements.

Sorry to go to on, but this needs to be said.

  8. Yes,

I was hopeing for the impossible I know.

It looks like the existing seat will have to go, and will need to buy a esky with a seat, the dimensions

    approx L100 x H420 X W500.

What type, Fibroglass (EvaKool) or the Polymer stuff (tropical)? Please will need to sit on this, so needs to be strong.

  9. My boat show experience

I went to the show on Saturday 10am and I'll give you guys a tip, its not worth going for any supposed bargins!

The alumnium boat dealers ($20 -$40Kare the same stone faced B..LS...t artists. They are where Qunitrex and Stacer. So many dealers of each brad and not a bargin in site.

The boating industry is a closed shop in Australia with the proceeds going mostly going to Queensland boat manufacturers.

Show price is usually $1000 cheaper for a boat, but by the time you add the options youi end up paying the same. Your better off buying it at a dealer without the pressure at the show.

One tackle store had some items that were slightly cheaper on slected items., but that was it!

I think it was Hunts accessaries had good deals on boating product (about 20%).

There where some good bags for the kids, stickers , colour pencils the lot!

    The Cafe was over priced.

We finished up looking at the crusers, saw a $420K cruser looked fantastic!!

Overall it was ok, but if these dealers want to sell boats, they realy need to come to the party on price.

  10. I'm looking for a Ice Box for the boat (WxLXH) Min 50cm = 45x 76x32 (cm).

The limiting factor is the height of 32cm.

Why only H=32cm, due top the Quintrex back seat ! From the floor to under the seat its only 32cm high. The length between legs is 76cm so the length is not a problem, and the width of 45 or 50cm is not an issue.

Can you guys suggest a brand that is only 32cm high?

    Minium capacity needed is 60L.

  11. To be honest I cannot remember excactly, would have been around 15m.

The bottom was rocky, I lost a few hooks.

I was at a dangerous location, just to the side of the waves breaking. Watch for where the waves break and them add at least 20m. You just don't know!

Let us know how you go.

  12. Mediteranian BBQ Fish (whole),

Best BBQ type - Stainles Steel grill with heat beads!

Clean and scale fish and dry them with paper towel! add 1 Tsp of salt & Pepper in the cavity of each fish

    Mixture

Dice garlic finely 3 cloves minimum

    Chop up Parsely 1/2 cup

    Olive oil 1 cups

    2 tsp salt

    1 tsp black pepper

Commence heating grill (5 min at least)

CRITICAL , when grill is hot (sizzel test with one drop of oil) place fish on grill

Within 20 seconds lift fish off grill (using spatula and tongs) and place fish in same position- now the fish will not stick.

Generally wait until the eyes of the fish turn white (3 min depending on thickness) and then turn over fish

When turned over, brush mixture onto fish

Cook the other side for half the time and take off grill and place mixture onto the second side while on serving plate.

Then Sqeeze fresh lemon over the lot.

This can be service with a boiled Spinich and potato salad adding the mixture as a dressing.

This can be done for any whole fish, although for large thick fish high heat at first then reduce heat so the fish does not burn.

This way of cooking does allow you to taste the different flavours of each fish.

The heat is critical as high heat allows the fish not to stick to the grill!!!! Once the fish is on 20 secs you can afford to turn doen the heat by 1/4. of original temp.

    Enjoy

  13. Hi Guys, Went out to Botany Bay On Friday 9am, caught very little. Came back in to Pick up the wife a kids at 4pm for some afternoon action.

We went oout to the first break wall, caught 2 legal Flatheads and heaps of small one's, it's nice to know they are there for another day.

I decided to change bait, I put some scad on the line and then......... I was on! I fought this fish arond the entire boat with the kids cheering and the wife trying to get out of the way.

Then we saw some color, the wife was claiming it was on her line!!!!! I said "no way" and proceeded to bring him in.

Yes a 70cm King, the kids loved it and the wife was in shock! I had the biggest grin! :1prop:

Caught him on 8lb braid, a fluger reel and some light rod.

That was it, hulled the achor up and went home a winner. :biggrin2:

PS: Chicken pellets in a sack cost $15 - 25kg bag, last forever.

  14. Guys,

Over the past year I have taken notice of the moon before I even think of going out.

    My Rule

4 -5 days before full moon

    4 - 5 days before new moon

I've even tested this by going out, out side these times, coming home with nothing!

So there are really 48 days a year with a high percentage chance of catching fish!

Do you think it applies to most fish types?
