  1. Just ordered a new Quintrex 590 Legend. The boat is a centre console and I have decided that a hard top would be better than a bimini. Does anyone know who would be the best to approach to custom manufacture this for me??????
  2. Lets set a challenge to catch as many as you know who!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. Sydney sure is fishing well and I look forward to future seasons. Earlier this year I dropped a monster at about 1 metre and I have now dedicated my life to beating my PB of 94cm. I am thinking of rigging my boat with internet, phone and computer as I am sure that I can run my business while I have a fishing rod in my hand. Today I fished with 80 pound braid and 80 pound leader, the fish that smashed me had to be a shark (maybe a large king)!!!!!!!!!
  4. It was a last minute decision to hit the water today. I called a friend to see if he was keen, he was so the golf game was cancelled. Arrived at the ramp at 6.00 and headed straight to the bait grounds. We found the squid action a little slow, hit Balmoral for yakkas and before you knew it the tank was full with 20 or so. Decided not to search for more squid as we had to be off the water by 11, anyway we had some frozen from a trip a couple of week’s ago. First we went to Quarantine to try for some hoodlums; all we were able to catch was a couple of rats at 55+. We were fishing with squid strips and yakkas. The squid won the first round. Decided to head to the wedding cake to see if I was able to repeat last Wednesday’s session with AO 7474. Sounded around to see if the fish were holding up in numbers, they seemed to be spread out as the bait had separated into a couple of schools. With the downriggers in place we started, we both had a yakka on. The fish were showing up on the sounder but seemed a little shy to our offerings. I changed to a nice squid strip when Paolo’s yakka is smashed. A nice fight later and a 62cm landed. As Paolo was resetting his bait onto the downrigger my squid bait took of, I landed a fat 66cm model. Decided to give the red marker a try (the old wedding cake). There was not much bait holding in the area although we sounded up some large fish in the depths. We dropped our baits for nothing. Headed back to the wedding cake and on the way back both of our baits get smashed by unstoppable fish. We landed 3 more at at the wedding cake with the largest eing 61cm. I wasn’t able to repeat last Wednesday’s efforts but a fantastic morning on the water and nothing beats fresh Kingies. By the way squid won the day. Beats working!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. I will be selling the benefits to the on how important it is for me to keep refining my harbour fishing skills. Planning to fish Sunday in the Harbour as the winds look favourable. Happy fishing rof
  6. I also have 2 on my boat and find them a most valuable tool. I have used them in many situations throughout the harbour and beyond. Did a trip to South West Rocks and some of the locals laughed at the concept. Riggers paired up with a good sounder are extreemly valuable.
  7. Can't wait to have a fish on the new boat. I don't know why you are asking for feed back as you know that the boat is a machine.
  8. AO 7474 can't wait to see the new Haines Hunter and head east for some serious fish. Happy to have you on board again.
  9. I guess 75% of the catch were caught using yakkas. The strike on the squid seemed to be a little slow.
  10. After a couple of months reading all of the fellow raiders reports I thought that it is time that I share my Sydney fishing experiences. Hit the water yesterday with Anthony (AO 7474) after a slight delay with his alarm clock . We left from Tunks Park just as the sun started to rise. Headed to the usual bait grounds to collect squid and yakkas for our days adventures. The squid action was a little slow. Time had started to get away and we decided that it was time to hunt down some kings. We sounded up a couple of large areas holding bait and we decided that downrigging was our best form of attack. As Anthony was setting his rigger his spool from his Stella 20000 falls into the drink and all I heard was the splash The spool was retrieved without the line We set our lines again and commenced to rigg, and over the following hour we pulled in 6 king fish (5 legal). It was amazing to watch the sounder and look at the fish moving upwards off the bottom towards our tasty baits. We had exhausted our bait supplies so we headed back to the grounds for more. With 6 more in the tank we went back and worked the same area for another 3 good sydney kings. It was one of the best days on the water I have had. It was a pleasure to fish with someone as dedicated as myself. Thanks Anthony. Hope to hit the water soon and catch that monster hoodlum.
