G'day sam bros- If you try one, my suggestion would be to go for a 'plain' series without a drag (A5 series) the 600A5 (6 inch) is probably the most versatile and will handle any fishing location and most species. It is considerably lighter and less 'bulky' than the commonly used 650 (6+half inch) which has been the 'standard' beach reel for generations. If looking at a reel primarily for Bream, you could reduce size again to a 500A5 (5 inch) or better still an Alvey Luderick reel (again no drag) with the sidecast function.

Thanks waza, I was thinking of getting one with a drag. Thought it would be easier to fight fish with.

Is there any downside to alvey's with drag?

  2. I had a 3.8m tinnie previously and although fishing the estuaries was doable, it wasn't too comfortable, especially if it was choppy.

Now with a 4.55 Quintrex escape runabout, inshore fishing with 3 people is very comfortable. Fishing headlands and the close reefs is comfortable as well.

I would recommend going for a boat around that 4.5m mark and the minimum i'd go is 4.2m,  Anything smaller would be uncomfortable with 3 people.

Also you do not need a safety inspections if the trailer is less than 250kg tare weight, regardless of whether it is braked or not. So the boats that you are looking would not need a safety check for rego.  https://www.service.nsw.gov.au/transaction/esafety-checks-pink-slips

Thanks for the report and video Sam. Very professional as always. What was the music clip? It's a bit repetitive, yet catchy and upbeat, which made it highly suited to the video clip. Cheers, bn

    Thanks BN, much appreciated.

The one part of editing i always struggle with is music selection. I found it on youtube and thought it would suit the theme of the video. But I couldn't find another song, so I just repeated the same one haha. Its a song by Alan Walker, I think.
